Beyonwiz V2 - Does not boot up to UI

I have a V2 that today it will boot up properly.  It gets to 52% and then hangs there for a few minutes then finally goes to 100%.  The control does not work and but it does say REC on front screen and so it appears to be operating the record timer.

My question is what I should do next.  Should I push 'Recovery' button on rear or try booting from a USB and in that case what should I have on the USB.  Thanks

OK I solved this problem.  The V2 is barebones and accesses the NAS for storage.  For some reason, the file that it was trying to access, on the NAS, was corrupt and so the V2 could not start the recording and thus prevented the startup sequence to complete.  Once the timer was no longer active, it booted up normally and displayed an error about NAS file access.  Ideally, recordings should not be commenced until system is fully booted, at which point and NAS error can be displayed to the user.

It depends just what you mean by "fully booted" Recordings are managed by the enigma2 application, which is started at the end of the boot process. It then takes over management of the operation of the box as a PVR.

On the V2's front display the "boot progress" indicator runs up to 50% in the actual operating system boot process, and from 50% up while enigma2 is starting up. The timer list is loaded and recordings are started fairly early in the enigma2 startup. Exactly when NAS devices are mounted on the PVR's filesystem depends on exactly how the mounts have been set up.

I suspect that the issue with the NAS isn't a corrupt file (starting a recording doesn't read any ordinary files on the recording device, though it does read and modify directory contents), but more likely some sort of access issue for the PVR to use the NAS at all.

OK thanks for explanation.  The NAS is old and fairly full and so we are replacing.  One thing we have noticed is that it takes 5 minutes to shut down the V2 in the evening and that would appear to be a synching issue with NAS, perhaps because its old.

Overall we really like the Beyonwiz and have tried others but they are nowhere near as good, once you elarn how to use it.  My wife gets very stressed when it plays up :)

Quite possibly, given the other problems. During shutdown, the kernel has to write any modified file system blocks from its in-memory file block cache to permanent storage. If there are issues that slow that down, then that could cause the delay you're seeing.
