Adrian,

This bickering over show details that most users ignore wastes our valuable time.

Hi Stephanie, my first advice is to ensure that the IceBox tuners are connected to the splitter, and the splitter is connected via an aerial cable to the aerial wall socket, as shown in our setup guide found under Help - IceBox on our website.  Also the TV can be connected to the splitter as shown in that setup  guide should you ever need free-to-air TV on the new TV.  Also ensure the little "adapters" on the splitter are not loose but "squeezing by fingers" tight.

Give us 25 hours in a 24 hour day and I'm sure we'll get on top of these issues.  It's on the list but doesn't affect anyone's recordings, neither choices or accuracy.

It will be done when we come up for air.

Getting Help / Re: Icebox power cables
August 31, 2025, 10:49:06 PM
Hi,

Yes you could definitely get one from a Jaycar type store or online. The spec in volts and amps is on the side.  More amps would be no problem in a replacement, definitely not less and the volts should be the same.

We have never had one fail before?

Re Midnight Texas - I'm guessing you are the only person who is concerned and we have other more pressing guide work to focus on, so unless you have some insight it can stay as it is.

If it airs anyone who has set it to record will get it, if no one else has then its presence is irrelevant for the time being.

Why not consider our own design "IceBox", developed by IceTV as Beyonwiz, Humax etc had closed down? It has complete IceTV integration and on our website online store

Have you tried plugging the HDMI cable into another TV or monitor to ensure it is the IceBox or HDMI cable, not the current TV.

Getting Help / Re: Old Remote - Red light flashes
July 06, 2025, 03:01:15 PM
Hi,

You can try a reset by manually forcing the remote to re-connect to the IceBox by unplugging the dongle from the IceBox (while the IceBox is on) then holding both the "OK" and "Back" buttons on the remote control until the red light starts flashing regularly (it will be a little slower than when the buttons are held down, and will take around 5 seconds), you can then let go of the buttons and it will keep flashing at this rate and it will be in pairing mode. At this point plug the dongle in and shortly after that the flashing will stop once it connects.

Then try using the remote as normal.

If no luck we have much better upgraded ones called Remote 2 on our online store.

Out if interest I did the following calculation:

What would $8 ten years ago (our sub was $7.99) be worth today allowing for an average inflation of 2% per year?

It comes out, rounded to the nearest dollar, that $10 today will have the same purchasing power as $8 did 10 years ago, assuming 2% annual inflation.

So our price increase is effectively zero and i strived to achieve that in each of the past two one dollar increases.

The first thing is to try new batteries.

We are always happy to replace any wonky original ones with the same model but we simply can't afford to replace that first model with the new v2 one. Also the manufacturer of the original ones refuses to take any responsibility stating that they don't fail in their test environment:(

To get the production small volumes of remotes that we need has been really difficult as the manufacturers normally sell them in many thousands to major TV or STB companies who themselves are in much bigger markets than we are.  After many months of trying and finally finding a suitable replacement that is the V2 I had to nag the manufacturer repeatedly and accept a stinging price penalty to get them the make it for us. Nevertheless, albeit we make minimum margin, the end result is a huge improvement and well worth the update cost.

Please note that the wild movement across the screen can be due to a flat battery as being wifi so not needing to be pointed at the IceBox is does chew through batteries.

Getting Help / Re: IceBox not Responeing

As best I understand after a period the remote turns off to save battery so at that point on the first press wakes it up and the second press fulfils the required function

General / Re: Obtaining another IceTV Dual Tuner
April 04, 2025, 01:03:34 PM
HiMark,

I replied to your ticket on Wednesday, here's the copy:

""""Hi Mark,

You can buy a single (dual) USB tuner from the BYOB section of our store. Note you will also need a splitter as shown in our Setup & User Guide under Help on our website. I'm not certain but you probably will need to also do a soft reset once the second tuner is assembled and the IceBox switched back on. That is found under Settings - System in the menu (make sure you choose Soft Reset not Hard Reset so as to not delete your recordings).

https://www.icetv.com.au/bring-your-own-box/"""

Plus here is the link to a soft reset support article:
