My replacement remote 1 is now flaky even with fresh battery. Can you provide the reset sequence if that helps.

SKIPPA / Skippa ti good home
April 29, 2026, 08:41:18 AM
I have a skippa that I've replaced with icebox and need to send it to a new home or throw. The second option just doesn't feel right.

It used to work well once I blocked the Freeview website that it polls coming up with the annoying 404 error.

It has a fan in it that I used to plug in to usb in the summer as it used to run warm in the hardware config I had. I think I also rejigged the internal video connector which didn't like head.

BYOB / Re: BYOB Wired And WiFi dropouts et al.

@raymondjpg had a good point.
Pulling the power plug resolves many issues that a reboot doesn't.

My wife and I have been using the IceTV IceBox for a while now, and it's honestly the best way to watch TV. The AutoSkip feature is what makes it stand out—you don't have to sit through ads, the show just plays straight through. Once you get used to it, going back to regular TV feels painful.

The IceTV app is another great feature. We can set up recordings for the week and even create searches so that anything we're interested in—like a specific show or genre—gets recorded automatically. I never have to worry about missing a new Lego Masters episode, and I know that if Brigadoon ever airs again, it'll be there waiting.

I've also been testing the new remote and it's a big improvement over the original. It's much more responsive and reliable. The new version 2 is now available, and I'd definitely recommend it—it makes using the IceBox even smoother.

Overall, the IceTV IceBox does exactly what it promises. If you're tired of ads and like the idea of TV that just works the way you want it to, it's well worth considering.

Thanks Dan.
Only if others are interested.

When I check on the Last EPG Fetch I can see my phone and an icebox. I can not see my device iceboxbyob last Fetch.
It's connected to server, processing new timers and has full 7 days of EPG loaded.

Quote from: prl on October 29, 2024, 03:03:48 PMI mentioned a recent dodgy EPG entry here:
https://forum.icetv.com.au/index.php?topic=8235.0

It'll be hanging around for a very long time (11 years) unless someone fixes it.

Sounds like this is the issue. So waiting for epg update to fix.

iOS 18.1 release version has not helped.
I've tried sequence of uninstall app , phone reset, install, phone reset, app reset.

Still does even in the middle of trying to record a show.

Good idea, I'd not thought of a hard reset between uninstall/reinstall.
Still happening though.
Any other suggestions.

On iPhone 15 pro with 18.1 Release Candidate. New version of iPhone icetv app is unusable.
It appears to do app reset, both randomly when I click on something and every time I go back to Icetv app. it pops up with updating: series, shows etc and it loses where I was in the guide. Some times the light grey screen, during reset sequence, persists on completion where nothing can then be selected. (Though maybe pulling screen down clears it?)
I've uninstalled, reinstalled and even changed new setting: update timers to 5min.
If it's 18.1 RC fault 18.1 Final releases today. I'll see if it's fixed.

IceTV iPhone app is using my local time when I'm in Italy. For example; the ABC midday news is shown as 04:00. All other shows are shown 8 hrs different than Canberra. I'd have thought the App should use Australian clock/time associated with my account (CbR), like it used to do in the last version.

Closed, Reset App...didn't help.

Deleted and reinstalled seems to have fixed screen jiggle. I'll keep an eye on the refresh issue.

I use the second smallest font possible on iPhone to maximise the number of things I can see in all apps. On the icetv app, tv guide, the writing is small, as I like it; it's just the "New Recording" font that appears bigger than before which is ugly and possibly a change over last version. I have adjusted the font from smallest to largest and can see that the font is indeed dynamic type/text. Very large on smallest font setting and extremely large on largest font.

Interface with IMDb excellent as it now goes directly to the IMDb referenced entry cw the old version that left me hanging in a search that generally didn't work well.

I leave the app open on my phone. With the new release when I return to the app it has the old screen listing from my last use. The old version seemed to force a refresh. Just an observation.

When I scroll down TVGuide and stop it works, but 1 second later the screen changes and things have moved.

When I set a recording, the new recording screen fonts seem overly large.
Different than last version?  Maybe not correctly applying the Apple text size setting? My phone is set to very small font.

Getting Help / Re: Comskip not working
April 09, 2024, 07:09:18 PM
Quote from: Aardvark on April 07, 2024, 01:39:11 PMRunning V1.11.6 and although Comskip is enabled in the IceTV Addon it is not working.

Any help to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks

My comskip came to a halt last week and now working again after ssh'ing into box to investigate.

Dan will implement a fix for my problem soon. Only If you're up to ssh and remote access and take full responsibility for actions:
- By looking at recent recordings directories there will typically be .log files for files that have been processed with the same name as recording.mkv files.
- There is a comskip directory on the icebox (~/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.TVheadend IceTV/comskip) with a file 'comqueue' containing a list of files to be processed along with a flagfile 'commskip_running', which indicates the process is active. On my box the queue was full, the process not actually running but the file 'commskip_running' was present.
- Deleting the commskip_running file sorted it such that within minutes it started going through the list
