Getting Help / Not Skipping Ads
June 11, 2026, 06:47:14 AM
Hi,

Not sure if I need a soft reset to resolve the issue of no ads being picked up in my recent recordings?

Cheers,
John

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for those instructions, as I had no idea.

Oh, I missed that point, so yes, I can try it on another TV tomorrow as I'm at work atm.

Cheers,
John

Hi MD,

I tried swapping ports on the back of the TV, as well as using a brand-new HDMI cable that was still in its packaging.

Live TV, and any other media service, I cannot see this line, and it's only when I run through the IceBox. All since the TV software update the other week.

Cheers,
John

I have done a few more checks, and so far, I still cannot remove this line.

The only thing I have yet to do is perform a hard reset, but I'm unsure how to transfer my recordings to another drive first, as I would like to keep them. I tried plugging in a portable HDD into one of the USB ports on the IceBox, but that interfered with the RC and stopped it from working.

Thanks, DeltaMikeCharlie, you have given me a few more options to look into. I will not be able to test anything more for now until the end of the week, as I'm on night shift.

Cheers,
John

Getting Help / Re: SDD Replacement

Hi again,

I have now swapped ports and done a complete power off and on again, all with no change.

Watching this horizontal line more closely, I notice that the picture seems split, and the top and bottom halves of the image do not line up anymore, only by mm but enough to become annoying.

As suggested by Ian, I could also try and reset the TV, or try and roll back the latest update.

Sorry, guys, I've been on nights and have only just tuned in again, so thanks for your replies in the meantime.

A couple of points and more investigation to follow.

This TV is only 12 months old, so I'm hoping it's not broken already.

I did have a software update sometime last week, and it was after that when I noticed this line appearing across the screen, but only on the IceBox, and not on any of my other streaming devices.

I have swapped the HDMI cable, but the line is still there. I will swap HDMI ports later today to see if it changes anything.

More to follow..........

Getting Help / SDD Replacement
July 03, 2025, 05:36:22 PM
Hi,
As I suspect my SDD is on the fritz with a constant horizontal line running through the middle of the screen, I'm guessing there are a few choices?

Put up with it

Replace the SDD

Transfer the recordings to another portable drive, as the drive is nearly full anyway.

Points 2 and 3, I'm clueless, so I could use some help, please.

Cheers,
John

General / Horizontal line while using IceBox
June 29, 2025, 01:06:56 PM
Hi,
Over the last couple of days, a horizontal line has appeared in the middle of the TV screen. It only appears while running the IceBox, as I have tried looking for it on my other streaming services, but nothing. The line is not always visible, but it is there, and is more noticeable during a scene change. I'm not sure how to describe it in any more detail.

My 1TB HD is nearly full, so could this be a sign that the HD is on the way out?

Cheers,
John

Yes, working again for me now, all is good!

Cheers,
John

PS, Any update on the disappearing EPG and then also recordings, as I'm having to do a soft reset at least twice a week atm?

Yes, I'm having the same issue. I even tried in Chrome, and am getting the same outcome.

Getting Help / Re: Guide/Timers not updating.
April 19, 2024, 08:21:47 AM
Hi,

Yes, I have lost a few of my timers again, and there are lots of blank areas in the EPG.

I have National Nine News HD set to record every night of the week. I work a couple of nights a week so therefore I remove specific episodes via the web UI. Each time I have done this for the news, and I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence, but sometime later other timers that are supposed to record for the news drop off, and the EPG shows lots of blanks.

I did a reboot last night where I also noticed that there is a new software update of 11.6.2 (I think).

Cheers,
John

An update!

I now have my replacement RCU with kind thanks to MD. I can now say that the RCU is behaving as it should be and to my relief, the Icebox is now reacting like an entirely different appliance.

The second issue I was having was despite me not turning the Icebox off, my TV would not do its handshake via HDMI, so I would have to reboot the Icebox each time I turned the tele back on. I bought a new HDMI cable and had partial success, but had a lot of sparklies across the screen. I then swapped HDMI connections on the back of the TV, and like magic, again everything is now as it should be and I can turn the tele off and on as I please.

I have had a third issue since then when some of my timers disappeared from the recording listing. On doing a look around I found a lot of blank spaces in the programme guide. I cleared the cache but it still did not help refill the missing channel programmes, in particular channel 9 HD, and SBS HD, to name a couple.

I could not find how to repopulate the guide, so last night I did a soft reset, and everything came back up and also restored my lost timers.

Was there an easier way to do this rather than a soft reset?

Cheers,
John

I'm not so sure anything including me is wife-friendly these days. :-)

Quote from: DeltaMikeCharlie on April 04, 2024, 03:25:36 PMPlugging in a spare USB keyboard into the IceBox could be a workaround until the new RCU arrives.

Thanks for that suggestion, the idea appeals to me for sure, but I can already hear the wife's comments even before she says them aloud. But I might just test the waters regardless.

Cheers,
John
