IceTV EPG Content / Which Maigret?
November 22, 2025, 01:35:16 PM
There have been several TV adaptions of the Maigret books, the most recent currently on ABC (2025 version), which was preceded by version commencing in 2016, 1991 (French) and another I remember from the 1960 (BBC) - not the last has not been on TV for many many years. It would help if the EPG data distinguished between the various incarnations, particularly the 2016 and 2025 incarnations.

[EDIT] Just found a reference to a Granada version staring Michael Gambon, made in the early 1990s.

Who Do You Think You Are? (Irish TV series), produced for RTE is not the same as the on produced for the BBC.

According to Wikipedia three seasons were produced (2008, 2009 and 2018). The episode on Adrian Dunbar aired by SBS on 11 November was from the 2018 season. IceTV correctly identifies this a being S03E06, but for the wrong country. It is not clear that this is the case until you see the closing credits.

I do not know if SBS intends to air further episodes from the Irish version - there were 18 episodes made. If there are any future episodes that are S01E**, S02E** or S03E** then they are likely to be from the Irish version rather than the UK version.

Not sure if this is a major problem - just caused me real confusion.

General / IceBox firmware 12.2.2 A hidden change
August 01, 2025, 01:51:03 PM
In addition to the changes listed in the release notes IceBox firmware 12.2.2 also modified the file naming convention for recordings. Reflecting the inclusion of Series (Season) and episode number in the EOG date, that information is now included in the recording files.

Example:
Using old naming convention
Homicide_ Life On The Street-SBS VICELAND HD2025-07-1502-30.mkv
Using new naming convention
Homicide_ Life On The Street-SBS VICELAND HD2025-07-2413-55-S05E13.mkv

This makes it much easier to identify recording that you may wish to copy to PC or to PVR such as a Beyonwiz or Topfield.

Between now and midnight all my scheduled series recordings on 7flix are showing as triple donuts. The are properly configured for my IceBox (BYOB and IceTV). As far as I can see no other LCNs are having this issue. The timers appear have been downloaded (checked using OpenWedif. Is this a case of a failed time adjustment for the timers?

Beyonwiz / Running OpenATV on Beyonwiz T2
March 16, 2025, 06:32:09 PM
I am thinking of road testing OpenATV on one of my Beyonwiz T2. If I recall correctly there is an IceTV "add-on" for OpenATV, what I would like to know before I embark on this undertaking is are there any issues I should be aware of when using IceTV using OpenATV.

This just started happening. Adjusted timers for T2 and V2 it stopped bringing up options when I tried another T2 and IceBox. Tried a different browser and different account and saw the same thing.

Is this a general issue or is it just for me?

General Discussions / "Wrong" program recorded?
December 23, 2024, 03:13:06 PM
Last night on my Beyonwiz (T2, U4 and V2) an episode of Law & Order named "The Girl with the Curl" recorded (7Flix Melbourne) - when I looked at it it was an episode of Bones". Both Bones and Law & Order are scheduled to record on the Beyonwiz. It did not record any of my IceBox. My IceTV IceBox is scheduled for both Bone" and Law & Order, BYOB1 and BYOB2 only for Law & Order.

IceTV EPG Content / Beyonwiz double donuts
September 18, 2024, 11:45:05 AM
My Beyonwiz are showing multiple double donuts in the My Week listing. However, there are no double donuts for IceBox. [Will ignore problems with the Toppys as that is probably due to the way in which they update timers.]

With the Beyonwiz it is odd that the most recent timer downloads are not showing any errors in the logfile; for some there are error messages for earlier downloads - see screenshot.Beyonwiz error message 18-09-24.jpg

On one of my Windows 11 Pro PCs I am running Release Preview insider build. Yesterday I loaded the lates build - Version 24H2, OS build 26100.712. This morning when I attempted to connect to one of my BYOB IceBox units I was presented with windows login box - claimed I needed username and password due to organization policies (no organization and I had changed nothing). Once I changed the settings from anonymous SMB to username and password all was well.
I changed the default username and password - libreelec - before doing so.

IceTV EPG Content / Diagnosis Murder Obsession Part 1?
November 30, 2023, 11:26:08 AM
Yesterday/overnight Diagnosis Murder "Obsession Part 2" was recoded as a series recording, however "Obsession Part 1" does not seem to have been recorded. Was it actually trasmitted recently. Had the same problem last time around, part 2 recorded but not part 1.

The program description for this movie is given as:
QuoteTwo hurricane hunters track a huge, violent hurricane that is bearing down on a Gulf Coast town. (United States, English)

It is in fact set in WW2, and the hurricane in question is an aircraft not a weather phenomena. It seems to deal with the experiences of Polish pilots flying with the RAF.

IceTV EPG Content / Antiques Roadshow Sunday 13-11-23
November 13, 2023, 07:36:32 AM
The episode transmitted (Bishop's Palace Wells 1 - a repeat of an episode transmitted a few weeks ago) was not the advertised one advertised (Ulster [Folk] Museum 2).

I believe this must have been a last minute change by the ABC. Please keep a close eye on episode listings in the coming weeks as this is likely to put things out of kilter.

I will check to see if the "repeat" this morning is of the "correct" episode.

Last night I had scheduled the Moral Hazard episode of Major Crimes on 9Gem HD Melbourne. Last time it was on (some months back) for some reason it did not record, so I had missed it. Owing to the tennis ending 55 minutes early (this is guestimate, based on how much of the episode recorded), but fortunately on my V2 I has 1 hour pre padding (similar setting on my BYOB IceBox), so managed to get the full program. The start was missing on my U4 (only 20 minutes pre padding) and on my 2400 and 5300 (15 minutes pre padding).

So, this time I was very lucky.

Presently there are multiple programs that are being broadcast on more than one network. At one time when setting series recording we could specify the network (rather than LCN). Unfortunately, the LCN on which a network broadcasts a program can change, or be transmitted for example on 9HD and 9Gem HD interchangeably.

Examples I am currently seeing are:
The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys (SBS and 7Two)
Agatha Rasin (ABC and 9Gem)
Call the Midwife (ABC and 7Two)

In the past there have been problems with
Chris Tarrent Extreme Railway Journeys (SBS and 7Two)
