This update had huge consequences for my BYO IceBox.  The IceBox got stuck in a loop trying to read new channels, the old channels still worked.  It then stopped recording, even though the channels had valid timers.  I did a soft reset (supposed to keep recordings), but it reformatted my disk - all recordings lost.  Hard reset didn't return the system to function until today.  Is this something that BYO can look forward to in subsequent updates?  Is the IceBox sold by IceTV also affected so badly?

Here's an update of my BYOB journey.

You recall that I was using a 5th gen i5 NUC and that everthig woas good except I was getting internmittent green flashes.  With the help of others on this forum I was able to eliminate everything except the processor and inbuilt graphics processor.

It seems that the 5th Gen NUC with i5 processor can't eliminat the green flashes.  They can be minimised pretty much, but the are still there and they are distracting.  The flashes are most distracting when any on-screen menu elements are displayed.

The solution was to obtain an "old" Dell mini computer, this machine has an 11th gen i5 processor and graphics processor, 8Gig of RAM, 500G M.2 small form factor SSD.  Worked brilliantly out of the box.

I added a 2Tb 2.5" SSD and set it as the boot drive.  The M.2 still has windows, and I have the option to boot to Windows if I want to.

For a short time I ran IceBox on a 2Tb mechanical drive.  It ran pretty well, but the SSD is so much better, running more smoothly overall with ad skipping being excellent.

I am delighted with IceBox, but would love to see the ability to re-scan the TV channels without having to reset IceBox.

Depending on which NUC you have there may be two HDMI outputs. If so, try the other one.

In my experience with NUCs, output characteristics may differ between the two HDMI outputs. Particularly if relatively recent, and where one port may be "native" HDMI and the other, converted displayport output.

Another option is to try the displayport output, if there is one, and a displayport to HDMI adapter.

I have not experienced this with either of my BYOB (identical Intel NUCs). Do not recall it being mentioned for either IceTV IceBox or BYOB IceBox. I have seen it on Topfield PVRs, so I checked the oztoppy wiki (http://oztoppy.wikidot.com/no-picture-or-green-scren) and the most likely cause is the HDMI handshake. Could be a loose connection or an iffy HDMI cable. If you have another HDMI cable, see if it has the same problem. You could also check the video output settings - the recommended output setting in 1920x1080 @ 50 Hz. You can change the setting Settings > System > Display.

Hi all, newbie here

I've successfully set up an old NUC with BYOB and all is good, except that the screen flashes green when watching live TV and recorded content.

I can best deceive the issue as a light green flash, oriented to the left of the screen at full height.  Occasionally the flash shows a series of black dots.  The flash happens more often when the playback bar and controls are displaying.

The hardware is an Intel NUC, i3, 8Gig with a 250Gig SSD running the system.  I have a 2Tb mechanical drive as PVR storage.  I'm in Australia with a single August DVB-T tuner.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
