Can't turn off my Topfield
« on: August 14, 2007, 10:05:05 PM »
My Icebox2 confirms its USB connection every 30secs which means if I try to turn off my Toppy to standby, it automatically switches back on again to confirm the Icebox USB connection. I only need the Icebox to download once a day, is it possible to change the settings to confirm connection before download time and enable me to turn off the Toppy? Have a 5000.
Thanks

Actually, the icebox2 does not check the Topfield connection every 30 secs, it also doesn't force the Topfield to turn back on from standby if it's not detected.

The way the icebox2 works at present is that before a download of the guide is attempted it will check to see if the Topfield is available, if it's not then it will not download the guide but re-schedule another check 60 secs later, when it will then try again. Over time this retry time  gets longer and longer until it has been 6 hours from the first attempt, then if it is still failing the icebox2 will reboot itself (and only itself) and then schedule the next guide download for the next day.

This is a very small portion of my system log, can you tell me what it's doing?

Those are from the DHCP daemon (which requests an IP address from the network) checking to see if a new address is available.

This is purely on the network side of things, and also wouldn't cause another device to be turned on.
