Has anyone actually received the refund yet?

I certainly have, (ie. Money is safely back in my bank account) and going by comments both in this forum and on Whirlpool it would appear that quite a lot of people have actually received refunds for the Skippa purchases from Paypal.

Perhaps I have missed something ?

I do not think you've missed much. Sounds like a pretty good summary to me !

The first bit of good news in all of this. I've just received an email from paypal saying I will receive a full refund of $417.00 within 3 to 5 days. I'm one of those that never received my Skippa.

Thanks for the tip Bridjee, I just made the same call and spoke to a Paypal operator who had already received a similar call this morning (possibly yours). My case has been re opened and they said I'd hear something more from them in 24 to 72 hours.

Yeah,

In my response to Paypal I included the link to the Skippa add. My gut feel is that Paypal are not going to be very co-operative in spite of their "buyer protection" policy as this exercise, if they pay us all out will cost them a lot of money.

I just received the below response from Paypal regarding my SKIPPA claim.

"Unfortunately, we are refusing your claim because your purchase was for a virtual, digital or intangible item, which is not covered under PayPal Buyer Protection. We only cover claims involving physical items that can be shipped and tracked.

We encourage you to work directly with your seller to resolve the problem. You'll find their contact information on the Transaction Details page"

I've gone back to them telling them that the above is obviously incorrect reasoning.

My claim was because I had not received the Skippa, not sure how Paypal are going to respond to those who did receive one.

I also received the email but replied with 2 questions that I'd need answered before committing to a monthly subscription.

Question 1 - How many devices would be covered by the new monthly subscription ?

Question 2 - Would any of the current Executive/owners/directors be in any way involved in the new arrangement ?

If the answer to question 1 is 5 or higher, the answer to question 2 is ABSOLUTELY NONE and provided I was able to cancel on no more than a months notice then I'd be in.

I was initially sceptical and hesitant about the ides of paying for an EPG. However, about 18 months ago when my TiVos started to die I purchased a Topfield which came with a 3 month ICE TV subscription so I decided to give it a go. I was quickly converted, mainly for the ease of use and the fact that I could set up all my programming from one spot (ie the PC) and I now have 3 ICe Tv enabled boxes. As a result I signed up to one of the long term discounted offers. Therefore, at this point I'm out of pocket for the unfilled Skippa order I place in June, (Paypal claim has been lodged) and assumably will be out of pocket for my remaining subscription (about 3 years) on the basis that ICE TV goes the way most people are predicting. ie. It ceases to exist along with the EPG or somebody else takes on the EPG and starts from scratch.

Moving forward, should some organisation take on the EPG component of the ICE TV business and continue to deliver it the way it's done at the moment and assumably not honour existing subscriptions, there's no way I'd sign up again even for a term as long as 12 months. However, should a new provider offer a month to month option, even if that were to work out slightly more expensive than say a 12 month or longer subscription I'd most likely consider it. Simply speaking that achieves two things, firstly subscribers have no long term exposure and secondly, the provider has a regular/steady source of revenue.

I also say this on the proviso that Heinze Hermann and Colin O'Brien have absolutely no involvement in whatever comes out the other side of this mess. From my perspective and based  on what I've personally experienced over the last couple of months and what I've read on the various forums, at the very least these two should finish up facing Fraud based criminal charges. Unfortunately though they will probably not and will disappear under a rock for a year or two, come back out when they think everybody has forgotten what happened and likely, do it all again.

edit - Gas667 you must have posted while I was composing this. It appears we have not dissimilar thinking on this.

Im posting these comments in both Whirlpool and the IceTV forum so apologies in advance for anybody reading them twice.
I really do not know what to do anymore with this Skippa debacle.
Its increasingly obvious that we are simply being lied to from all levels within IceTV.
Here it is now 07/10/2015 which means its over 4 months since I ordered my Skippa which when ordered had an ETA of the end of July. Being a new product coming to market I did not fully expect it to arrive by the end of July but on the other hand did not think that on 07/10/2015 Id still be waiting for it with the latest lot of delivery promises expired with no further updates from IceTV. Ie. The latest I have was Heinz note last Friday indicating that tracking details would be provided yesterday. As has become the norm with IceTV over recent months a date or timeframe has expired with no further update until sometime after that expiry.
My lie comment above can be fully supported by a service ticket which I opened on 14/09/2015 when I first asked IceTv when I can reasonably expect to receive my Skippa. Looking back through the history of that there are numerous contradictions in the messages given to me not to mention that every date and timeframe they gave me has expired without being met.
The most recent example being:-
28/09 - Told IceTV to cancel my order as Id had enough
29/09 Ice TV (Dave) told me that if I did not cancel, Id have a tracking number on 30/09 or 01/10 at the absolute latest (unequivocal guarantee) as the Skippas had cleared customs and were expected in the warehouse that afternoon (ie 29/09). When I asked what compensation Id get if the unequivocal guarantee was not met he did not respond. Anyway like a fool I agreed to rescind the cancellation, something which I now very much regret doing.
Combine this with Heinz notes of 11/09/2015 and 02/10/2015 really creates what should be an extremely embarrassing situation for Ice TV and that is without even referencing the comments/feedback in the on-line forums.
When I first signed up with IceTV  about 18 months ago, I was most impressed with their service and the couple of initial teething problems I had were quickly sorted out by a call to support. As I result, Id been strongly singing the praises of IceTV to family and friends. I also took advantage of one of the various extended subscription offers that were regularly advertised.
Today, I cannot think of a circumstance that would see me give IceTV another cent of my money or recommend it to anybody. Im certainly now telling anybody that may be interested in taking up IceTV or even worse, buying a Skippa, to closely look at the comments in both Whirlpool and the IceTv Forum before making a decision so they can go in with their eyes open.
Apologies for the length of this rant but I just needed to get it off my chest.

Please tell me that there are not still delays in customs as I was told the following by Dave at about 8.00pm yesterday.

"Hi Gary,

Thank you for contacting IceTV Customer Service.

Sorry for all of the delays. All Skippas have finally arrived at the Sydney warehouse. The Skippas were on track to arrive late last week and be posted last Monday, the 28th, but they were delayed at Sydney International Airport for 5 days due to the airport workers and customs daily 4 hour stop-work strikes since the 21st. Thankfully all of the Skippas have been released from customs now and have arrived at the warehouse. All orders have been sent to the warehouse for processing and packaging. Tracking numbers will be sent by Australia Post instead of directly from IceTV. You will be sent a tracking number from Australia Post once they have picked up the parcel and scanned it in at their parcel sorting centre late Friday or Tuesday (assuming the Post Office don't work on public holidays).

Best Regards,

Dave
 IceTV Support Team"
