Title: Program name change - Doctor Who
Post by: Russell at IceTV on July 15, 2006, 02:48:48 AM
The following program has been renamed to separate it from the older series:

   Old program name: Doctor Who
New program name: Doctor Who: Adventures In Time And Space

This change will begin with episode "Tooth And Claw" on Saturday 22 July on ABC at 7:30pm.

If you have a series recording setup for the old program name, you may want to change it to the new program name.

Thanks,
Russell

Thanks Russell...

Just wondering - can't you just call the older series "Doctor Who : The Classic Series" ?

This is how BBC define it (I've sent them an email to double check) as per here:

Thanks,
Shane.

Hmmm, not happy, Jan.

Why not just use the first run/repeat flag?

I assume this has been done because someone has complained about ending up recording all Dr Who - new and repeats?

I think maybe the guide team chose this name because that's what ABC Australia is using:

I think it was done so people could pick which series they wanted to record, similar to how other series are renamed each new season.
