New iPhone app. Week 1 observations

Interface with IMDb excellent as it now goes directly to the IMDb referenced entry cw the old version that left me hanging in a search that generally didn't work well.

I leave the app open on my phone. With the new release when I return to the app it has the old screen listing from my last use. The old version seemed to force a refresh. Just an observation.

When I scroll down TVGuide and stop it works, but 1 second later the screen changes and things have moved.

When I set a recording, the new recording screen fonts seem overly large.
Different than last version?  Maybe not correctly applying the Apple text size setting? My phone is set to very small font.

Hi Dacho,

The app had to be totally rewritten as its code was near to being obsoleted by Apple.  It uses the latest iOS code base with "Dynamic Text" for text size, which means that the font size is not set but linked to the text size setting on your device.  Go to "Display & Brightness" > Text Size - at the bottom is a slider to manage the text size of all apps etc.

I've been using and testing the app and haven't seen the oddity with things moving.  In these situations I always advise deleting the app and reinstalling a fresh version, especially as the update is so all encompassing.

Deleted and reinstalled seems to have fixed screen jiggle. I'll keep an eye on the refresh issue.

I use the second smallest font possible on iPhone to maximise the number of things I can see in all apps. On the icetv app, tv guide, the writing is small, as I like it; it's just the "New Recording" font that appears bigger than before which is ugly and possibly a change over last version. I have adjusted the font from smallest to largest and can see that the font is indeed dynamic type/text. Very large on smallest font setting and extremely large on largest font.

My main issue with the new app was that single recordings would not be shown in " My Week".
The notes for the last update referenced that this was addressed, but it is the same as before.
If I force a refresh by pulling down in My Week, single recordings will show for about 3 seconds then disappear.
This is the case whether the recording was created on the app or web interface.
I have reset the app many times, logged out and back in and also deleted the app and reinstalled from new. Same thing occurring.
I will just have to use the web interface from now on until a fix is implemented that addresses this.

I can't recordings of single episodes to work. They appear to work, with a red dot appearing, but 5-10 seconds later the red dot disappears and the recording is no longer listed in the app. Very frustrating.

Edit- I see the person posting above me has the same issue. This is the same with both iPad and iPhone, by the way

Edit 2- it looks like the timers actually have been transferred to my Beyonwiz, so it's just the display in the app that's the problem

Just so everyone understands this new release is a total, complete, rewrite using a new code base to satisfy Apple's requirements going forward. It has taken about four man months. The old app had evolved since the first iPhones over about 15 years so the rewrite needed much research

Thanks for the clarification MD, as I suspected it is an Apple requirement issue.
Believe me, as an entirely Apple reliant home (other than phone), this is a minor issue for me compared to other bugs and annoyances experienced every day.
 No longer and long passed was the motto "It just works" applicable to them. More apt would be "Spend a lot of money and then many hours configuring your system, it might work. And after the next software update of any of your products, do it all again". "Thanks for your dollars".
The web interface will suffice for me.

No need to raise a support ticket, we all keep our eye on the forum.  The issue has been forwarded to the app developer.

They don't show up in 'my week' and even in the initial screen where the red dot appears to show I had set the recording, that red dot disappears again a few seconds after setting it. The recordings themselves do work, but there is no indication in the iOS app that they have.

We have fixed the bug and pushed it to the Apple App Store. It should be on public uodate release by Tuesday

My iPad app updated Sunday 04/08, same day as MD posted that "it should be on public update release by Tuesday". Impressive response.
So all looks good now. Single recordings are showing up in My Week, well after the 30 sec. period that I have set for "Update Timers'.
 But at least they are staying there while I have My Week open, which is good enough for me.
