I bought a 4Tb USB disk but my Humax cant use it and reboots when I try to format it :-(

Anyone been able to get large USB disks to work?  I have a 1.5Tb that works fine..

To answer my own question:

It appears that 2Tb or thereabouts is the maximum size that the Humax will handle.  I shrunk the partition down to 2Tb on my 4Tb drive and it worked OK.  However when I added another 2Tb partition on the same drive the Humax didnt even detect it as a USB device.

This is possibly due to this issue http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/295845-32-external-limit

2000 hours of SD recording? That's 83 days or nearly 3 months of continuous 24/7 viewing (yes, I know ... less with HD). That's a hellava lot of dubious TV shows. I can't conceive of the need to store that much information, but then I guess I'm just an old fart.

For broadcast SD, more like 700-1100 hours (30-45 days) of SD (assuming 4-6Mb/sec). But that's still a lot of catch-up TV.
