Bazza,  if SBS gives us that title there's no way we have the time to change it, or any of the countless other variations introduced by the broadcasters.

It a Sunday morning and give this constant hammering of my staff a break. They do their best but your specific, special, needs are not reflected in the feedback I receive from 99.9% of our other customers who are completely happy with our services.

Your suggestions are valid and if we had an infinite amount of time or wage capacity they could be done, just as a good librarian would curate their collection.

Nevertheless Bazza, mate, it ain't gonna happen.

IceTV EPG Content / The Big Fat Quiz of ...

FYI...

QuoteThe Big Fat Quiz Of Telly
SBS HD, 7:30pm, Mon, 7 Oct 2024, 105 minutes

What did Pedro Pascal have to ask fans to stop doing? What controversy rocked the fifth series of Bake Off? All these questions and more will be answered in The Big Fat Quiz of Telly.

United Kingdom, English, Documentary, Entertainment

This is part of number of shows that broadcast each year and have been doing so since 2004, such as:

The Big Fat Quiz Of the Year, (yearly)
The Big Fat Quiz Of Everything, (yearly)

Along with some others, such as:

The Big Fat Quiz Of Sport,
The Big Fat Quiz Of the Decade,
The Big Fat Quiz Of the 80's,
The Big Fat Quiz Of the 90's

and a few others.

I think a series should be added as:

The Big Fat Quiz Of

with the episode numbers as:

SyyyyExx

Anyway, that's my thoughts.

Ian, I believe you mean a returning season. If a show was truly new then no one would have a recording already setup until it's been added to the IceTV DB ... unless you did so via a keyword definition. Which I have done in the past ... then deleted the keyword & added a series recording.

If this list was limited to just only brand new TV shows then I wouldn't have an issue if at the same time the new show is added to the IceTV DB it automagically gets added to the New Show list. Surely, that's doable.

There would be some issues for shows that have been off-air for many years. A good example is "The Great Outdoors" which has been off-air for 12 years. Even for me, that would be a "new" show (in terms of IceTV).

OK, at least that explains the reason why.

I agree that shows of such small duration are a PITA, given that most of us would have a start time something like 5 mins before and a end time of 20 mins after or something similar.

In this case the 1st recording in each group above would cover multiple episodes.

I will manually adjust the start & end times of 1 minisode in each group to cover all of the others & delete what I don't need, ie. I'll adjust "Blocks", "Government" & "Browney Bear" & manually delete the recording for "Drums" & "whirlpool". Once recorded I'll edit the recording as required.

Cheers

FYI ... OK done, 3 recordings:
Sun 06.10.2024 08:05 - 06.10.2024 08:30 - "Blocks"
Sun 06.10.2024 18:12 - 06.10.2024 18:40 - "Government"
Sun 06.10.2024 19:10 - 06.10.2024 19:35 - "Browny Bear"

That should cover all 7 episodes.

Like I said, in my earlier post it would be really, really, really, ... nice to be able to search the IceTV guide not just be TV show name buy also by series/season & episode numbers and also whether or not they the Repeat flag attached.

So for example, I could search for, lets say, any show that has series/season one & episode one, etc. etc.

Thanks again.

That would be very useful for some users of IceTV - I for one would like to be able to limit the seasons covered by a series timer.

I agree with position stated by @Tiphanee - not intended to be exhaustive listing. If it did it would become unmanageable. I am not convinced of the need to include in the listing when a new season is about to commence (those who like the program will presumably already have a series recording set - but this may fall-over when there is a change in network or LCN on which it is broadcast).

Thankyou Tiphanee, I see 'em in the list now.

I wasn't trying to suggest that it would be

I was referring to those TV shows that IceTV subscribers, which mostly appear to be Adrian & myself, are posted in this thread do get added to the list ... at least eventually.

Hi Bazza,
I've had a look at this one and spoken to Dan.  The first two episodes of Bluey Minisodes are of one minute duration each which unfortunately, at this time, is an episode length our system does not recognise. When time permits Dan will look at this issue however, as you can appreciate, it is not a top priority.

Cheers Gai

Hi BazzaG and Adrian,

Many thanks for your message about New Shows and Coming Soons.

Some of these shows i.e. Alert: Missing Persons, Question Everything and Karen Pirie have been added to New Shows previously and there does appear to be a glitch where they are not showing in your list. Unfortunately, Dan has other projects he is working on that are more pressing so he can't take time away to look at this issue.

In saying that, IceTV's policy on the New Shows and Coming Soon list has never meant to be a definitive list of all shows that meet these requirements and it has always been at the discretion of IceTV staff. It is the same with the newsletter with not every show making its way into the email. As you're aware, we are a small team and with our limited resources we can't be across every new show or season but where we can we will add to the list.

Shows that don't appear in the schedule within the next 7 days won't provide network or date information until they actually drop into the 7 day guide. As well, shows that run on from a previous season won't appear in the list as our database won't recognise it as a  New Show.

As well in most cases, we will add shows when they are brought to our attention. The shows that Bazza has highlighted have now been added to the list if they weren't already there.

Cheers,

Tiphanee
