Try for a month @ $4.99 US

Otherwise a year is iirc about $40US and lifetime is about $150US but I'd definitely be trying the month plan first to see if your happy with it befor going down that path. Remember I have no ETA as to when Plex will return as an app to the store...

Mark

I just signed up for the yearly pass.
Hopefully if Plex works ok I will not need to return my Skippa due to slow locking up on Media browsing.

Thanks Mark I will try it now (assuming a Plex Pass does not cost me too much).

IceTV EPG Content / Nine Network Changes
October 05, 2015, 12:04:09 AM
Nine have recently added new channel numbers 91,92 and 93 being Nine Gem and Go.
It is to group the channels together when changing up or down.
There is also 94 I think for Extra.

Can you please put the new channel numbers in so we can use them for the epg on our pvrs.

SKIPPA / Re: Playlists via DLNA
October 04, 2015, 05:40:11 PM
I decided today to contact IceTV via email to ask if they thought it was a hardware or firmware fault and was told there are a few other customers with similar problems which cannot be fixed via a firmware fix.

So they will send me a return satchel and replace my Skippa at the same time.
Whether this means I will get a replacement Skippa at the same time as the return satchel was not clear in the reply.
But either way I can survive with my IQ3 till it is replaced.

Also It would be good if the firmware update on Tuesday would fix it but its seems maybe not.

SKIPPA / Re: Keeps freezing up when using the remote
October 03, 2015, 09:28:41 PM
My Skippa has frozen when when browsing files from the media section (which is also very slow).
What I did find was that I could still watch videos etc on my pc (Windows 10) when The Skippa was frozen (well the screen is frozen).
I had forgotten it was frozen and starting streaming and it played the video ok.

So if anyone wants to try streaming from another device when The Skippa has frozen/locked up can you post your results as it may Help IceTV fix the lockups if it is possible.

If anyone has tried to play music via a media server what happens when a track is finished?
In my case it just goes to the media screen with the tv sound on.

There must be a way to play consecutive tracks.
Also going to tv sound I find annoying and would prefer silence when is has finished playing music/videos.

I will now try some different media servers but I feel it's The Skippa which is the cause (this the first time a media player has not played the next track for me.).

Edit: The browsing for media is very slow from my nas running Twonky Server, WMP Windows 10 desktop, but is faster using Twonky Server on my Windows 10 desktop.
Also it has locked up a few times while browsing, mainly while media is playing and trying to go back to the file list.
It seems in my case the Media playback is hit and miss and not reliable enough to use in my case.

Hopefully it will be improved.

Yes I can't see wmp in my media and it is a dlna server as far as I know as the T-Box saw it.
Check this out to read more.
http://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/index.php/2015/08/14/is-microsoft-killing-off-dlna-support-with-windows-10/

It seems the app in Windows 10 does not have dlna support but as wmp is still included that has dlna support.
The main thing is I want to be able to play music, videos. etc and have them play like a playlist.
Wmp dlna showing up in the T-Box was hit and miss so no surprises there.

I will try a different dlna server on my pc later and see if Skippa will play files like a playlist.
For the NAS which is a Thecus N2310 there are not much choices to what media server I can use  but as it was ok on the T-Box I will assume it is the Skippa which is at fault/not setup properly etc

SKIPPA / Playlists via DLNA
October 02, 2015, 07:48:56 PM
I have tried listing to music from my NAS using Twonky Server to the Skippa but after one track it just go back to the tv sound instead of the next track (in a n Album in this case).
I am wondering if it is Twonky causing this or it is something in the Skippa settings or just that Skippa wont play the next track.

My previous PVR the T-Box and even Windows Media Center had no issues playing the next track.
Also Windows Media Player is not showing up in the Skippa (I realised it was on today when testing).

Also Videos don't play the next in the list either.

Windows media player is the last thing I try when playing video files.

Ian

Yeah I should have known better :(.
Its the only format so far that has failed in wmp.
I did have wmc on Windows 8.1 and as that is just a frontend for wmp I had made sure all files I had worked.
Well I just found a new one.

The strange thing is when streaming the file wmp is happy but after I transfer it to the pc its a no go.
I will assume either the file is slightly different after transferring or the dlna server is changing the audio (still in 6 channel).

I have not tried playing the files. Only opened them in VideoRedo.

Ian

OK I have tried again wmp nothing so tried VLC in the end and its playing the audio with all 6 channels it seems wmp does not like the mpeg ts files ac3 audio and I have not used ts files for a long time as was using wmc.

I will now check the file in Media Portal.

First off - no electric shocks. I ope it is only static electricity

Me too! - I suspect it was static electricity - it happened a few times today as I walked over to the unit to manually reboot it after it froze...

Me too tingle on plastic case which can happen but it was still there with all cables disconnected.
Only the removal of the power cord stopped it. I have a feeling the ac power does not have an earth pin (not that it should matter as it should be double insulated).

I sound like a technician/electrician but I only have done part of the basic certificate for electronics and my dad was a Telecom tech so I have picked up much over the years.
Still not sure whether it is safe like that though.

Skippa is out for delivery.  :D

Too late to say they have a cargo ship to send stuff to Tassie (saw it once when dropping of a worker when I used to drive cabs).
I think it was called the Bass Trader but not too sure.

At least you will have it soon.

I can get the files off Skippa to my Windows 10 pc but AC3 audio wont play on a moved file.
The file in question was Scorpion which plays audio fine when streaming but wont after transferring to Windows 10.

I have used mediainfo programme to check the audio format and it comes up as AC3 six channel.
A bit of a mystery so would look further before adding it to the bug list.

SKIPPA / Re: Skippa IR Remote
September 26, 2015, 05:23:20 PM
My remote has the same "must aim correctly issue" as well.
One idea I had as to the cause is the ir sender on the remote is recessed a little into the remote and maybe the signal get blocked a little.

I will have to look a my other remotes to see how they are and will report back.

I just turned on my Skippa to be greeted with a purple screen.
It is the second time this as happened and no button pressing on the remote will help.
Last time I had to pull the power cable from the back.

We need a reset feature on the Skippas front panel buttons if the hardware will allow it.

I hope the purple screen is just a hdmi cable problem and will try later.
Hopefully someone here might know what is causing it.

Kevin

Yes, sounds like an HDMI issue .... it could well be a handshake issue; can be caused by faulty cable, faulty HDMI port on either the SKIPPA or on the TV. I occaisionally have issues with my ageing Sharp TV and have to do a factory reset to fix the problem.

Ian

I did use the hdmi I was using on my T-Box so if it happens again I will use the cable supplied with The Skippa.
I have tried unplugging the hdmi cable when it happens but no luck there and also no response from the remote or front panel buttons when this happens.
I do think it's a hdmi problem as many on a web search say the same thing for many other devices.
