IceTV EPG Content / Re: No data 9HD And 9Life
November 26, 2015, 10:05:41 AM
Thanks John oh and Ian I am in Melbourne.

Foxtel surprised me with all of Nines channels working but 9Life is showing as locked still but still has a guide but no logo and can view it and 9HD has no logo either.
Also the Food network is not on Foxtel as they decide what fta channels i can see via the fta tuner.
So much for fta tuners and choice.

Kevin

Edit I just checked my account settings and Nine is still on the old settings (9 and 91 which are staying the same anyway) but the Nine guide has never shown on 91 on my Skippa.
Also the same for the second Go and Gem they never have had a guide either.

IceTV EPG Content / No data 9HD And 9Life
November 26, 2015, 05:19:20 AM
I have scanned my pvr (Skippa)and there is no epg data for 9HD and 9Life.
I know you may not do an epg for 9Life but I assume 9HD will have epg data.

I know 9Hd epg data is the same as 9sd but on the Skippa there is no way to change the epg source.
I have made sure in my account that all the Nine channels are selected.

The SBS Food channel has epg data so I assume the Skippa should be ok to get 9HD data and maybe 9Life.

All these changes Nine is doing is good but making sure my programmes record is something I will have to keep an eye on.
Also Foxtel still has no guide for 9HD either yet and 9Life is locked but still shows the channel ok.

SKIPPA / Test Device
November 10, 2015, 03:45:27 PM
When I open the Opera Store I get a red triangle in the top right corner saying "Test device not for public release".
Does anyone knows what it means?

I got a refund of $399.00 (I took the postage off) from Paypal today.
I did have the Skippa delivered and I get to keep it.
I wonder if asking for the whole $417.00 would have worked as well.

Happy anyway. So looks like others may be lucky as well.
And yes I will keep using IceTV.

So two months ago I signed up for a 5 year subscription for around $124. Is that what I'm supposed to claim. Have no idea if it was "secured" or not, or what that even actually means...

All subscription related claims are unsecured. I suggest that you include in the form the duration of your subscriptions (for example 5 years ending on 1 June 2020) and how much you paid for it (include the date of payment); if relevant you should also include the unlimited subscription to IceTV and AdSkipping if you purchased a SKIPPA. Not sure if you can claim for lost warranty cover for the SKIPPA.

I looks like they expect you to fill in the form, scan it and email it back to them. OK if you have a scanner, but otherwise problematic.

If you use the tools in adobe readers latest version you can type in the document  and highlight and sign.
I have already emailed mine.

Kevin

I am doubtful that we are likely to get anything back, but there is no harm in trying.

I may as well ask what has happened to Heinz Herman? I hope he is not involved this time.

And I will be paying the new price etc.

SKIPPA / Re: IceTv in Voluntary Administarion
October 12, 2015, 04:40:10 PM
I just got my email today at 3:02 pm and as I had been in Adelaide (back in Melbourne now) on a short holiday I had not read the forums till after the email.

Not surprised but still annoying although I did get a Skippa it will be useless unless a buyer is found or the firmware can be changed to allow the fta guide or any guide online for that mater.

I will now read right through the thread.

Kevin

Edit I voted yes as well.

Plex will only transcode when the client indicates that it cannot play the relevant codec naively.. For example my Samsung TV does not like the Apple Movie trailers so my NAS transcodes (or tries to very badly)...

If you turn on detailed logging on the plex server you will see exactly what is happening and why it is trying to transcode..

Great tip on the URL

Here is the FAQ for Plex ->https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/sections/200640416-FAQ-Plex-for-Smart-TVs

My nas cant transcode as it has a Arm CPU which is not powerful enough.
I will turn on logging later in my nas and Windows 10 desktop as I know the desktop Plex server will let The Skippa play them and am wondering if it is transcoding them or not.

Do you know what file format videos will play in Plex or do you know a link to a file I can try that should work in Plex without transcoding as that will help narrow down why my nas is not allowing videos to play.

To transcode or not to transcode, that is the question?..

This is gonna be an interesting test for the Skippa that's for sure...

Mark

I was trying the settings on my nas last night and did see the server setting for streaming bandwidth but nothing to tell it to not transcode.
No matter what streaming rate I set it to I always got the "this server is not powerful enough to transcode video"message.

When i tried my desktop Windows 10 with an I7 3rd gen CPU it played all I could throw at it straight away with no buffering.

I do know the nas can play my videos via dlna servers like Twonky and wmp via my T-Box (now packed away) and other Windows 10 pcs here at home.
Oh and it can do it on The Skippa via Media but the browsing is so slow it as good as useless.

So what i need is to get my nas with Plex server set so it wont transcode (as its an arm CPU which can't transcode) so if you see the setting on your setup and can tell me what i should try I would be grateful.

I was originally hoping that using dlna in The Skippa would work ok (most of my media is tagged correctly) and would still like to know why the browsing is slow but I will ask IceTV about that and see what there response is.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Why no "Partners in Crime"?

The ABC online EPG and the Canberra Times printed weekly guide (in today's paper) are showing Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime on ABC 20:30 Fri 9th Oct.

The ACT IceGuide shows "To Be Advised" for the timeslot.

It doesn't have a mention in New Shows either.

I saw an ad for it last night on ABC Victoria.
Same here in Melbourne listed as to be advised.

I have it working on my Skippa but it says my server on my nas not powerful enough to transcode.
It only affects videos music that is supported plays ok.

I have a Thecus N2310 which has an Arm processor which may be the problem.
What I need to know is how to tell the NAS to just play the video files as they are without transcodeing (and yes I know some formats will not be supported in Plex).

Not sure if this is in akk locations, but definitely the case in Melbourne.

Ian

What I read was that it was in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth. and Darwin.
All have the same owner. NBN in Northern NSW has the same owner but have not read of any changes there.

It sure has changed in Melbourne.

I got it working via Windows 10 for now but have found it is loosing connection to my pc at times so will now investigate.
And then I will install it on my nas to see how that preforms.

Oh and can it play flac files as my
Led Zeppelin high resolution files wont play.
They are 24bit 96khz.
