This is like getting a life time subscription as I suspect that is the average life of a PVR like skippa.

Hear Hear, Its all a point of perspective really.  It is interesting to note that in another post the same person is now offering their Skippa for sale.

I hope someone gets a good deal. As long as they understand what they are buying.  The Skippa is a great unit, but its value is totally dependant on IceTV surviving.

Yep, that was me. Trying to do a favour for someone who wanted a second Skippa and copped all sorts of moral indignation and faux outrage for my troubles. I understand that many people didn't get a Skippa and have no chance of a refund. I am sincerely sympathetic and understand the anger stage of the grieving process, but my offer wasn't directed at them.

Unfortunately, there were no takers, so it's off to the tip this weekend. Would have been a bargain too.

SKIPPA / Re: What are your Skippa plans?

Let's clarify my position here. I received my Skippa. I recieved a full refund for perfectly valid reasons. I will not continue using my Skippa. I will spend almost the entire refund buying a Fetch TV. I won't end up any better off. There are several people have n here who did receive their Skippa and expressed interest in buying another. There are no New Skippa's for sale (atm).

I'm offering my Skippa to those people. I didn't say I was selling it at full price, but I will sell it for what I can get for it. I figure it's compensation for six months of pain and suffering.

If you wish to question my morals, go right ahead. I really couldn't care less. But if you do, you must also question the morals of those who received their Skippa and a full refund and now they're keeping it. As far as I'm concerned, that's just ripping off Paypal and more immoral than my actions.

So for those who want another Skippa, PM me your price. If not, get off your soapbox because I'm just not interested.

My Paypal refund has hit my account, so I'm ready to sell my Skippa...
..If anyone wants to buy it off me, send me a PM with your best price. The highest price gets it. Don't forget that you will need to add postage on top of what you offer.

Sorry, I have a moral objection to what your suggesting.  Double dipping by getting a refund from Paypal and then flogging it off.

Yep, I have no morals at all. I'm using my refund to buy a replacement device. So, what to do with Skippa? I can't give it to charity. It has no value. There are people on here who are happy with their Skippa and have said they want another.

I'm curious, What would you do in my position?

Only just realised I paid for my Skippa via PayPal (clearly getting old!). My unit is a dud due to constant picture freezing. Have a lodged a claim today. Not overly optimistic but worth a try...nothing ventured, nothing gained! :P

You're lucky that there are plenty of precedents. I'm sure you'll be okay.

Where are you located so we can calculate the likely postage cost?

My Paypal refund has hit my account, so I'm ready to sell my Skippa. I said right from the beginning that if Skippa required a monthly subscription, I wouldn't look twice at it. I have so many monthly deductions already, I don't need any more.

So, I'll clear out the few recordings on there, do a factory reset and pack it away in its original box (minus the HDMI cable which I've used elsewhere). If anyone wants to buy it off me, send me a PM with your best price. The highest price gets it. Don't forget that you will need to add postage on top of what you offer.

PayPal has just approved my claim. A full refund on its way. I received my Skippa in the first shipment.

My Skippa will now be cleared out, factory reset and packed away. If anyone is in the market for a near new, barely used Skippa, send me a PM.

I received a Skippa, but given that it is not faulty and should continue to function with a paid subscription to the IceTV EPG, I assumed that I had no valid reason to claim a Paypal refund.  Are you claiming a Paypal refund for the loss of warranty and loss of the lifetime IceTV subscription?

Read the post from warkus on the first page. I followed his lead and am waiting on a response from Paypal next week.

My plan is to remain on hold for the time being. I will await the results of the claim I lodged with PayPal. I have not set up a monthly subscription and am not using my Skippa at the moment. It's still plugged in and turned on, but isn't downloading a guide.

If PayPal gives me a full refund, I will throw my Skippa in a cupboard and forget about it. I will then decide what to buy as a replacement (probably Fetch). If my claim is refused, I'll consider my options then.

Has anyone who actually received a Skippa and lodged a claim with Paypal heard anything?

This is going well for many of you.  :)

I got a SKIPPA and since I was one of the early orders I would have been outside the period covered by PayPal.

Ian

The claim period is 180 days. I lodged my claim successfully and I ordered on day one.

Just read about the resurrection. Really glad I don't have to tell my wife about my "brick". Thanks Dave!

I wish I'd thought to wait to tell mine.  :(

I followed Warkus' lead and lodged a claim based on his. The only thing I did differently, based on previous issues with it being a non-tangible product, was to expand the description of the item. I wrote:

"The item provided by IceTV Pty, Ltd - being one (1) x Skippa branded 3 HD Tuner 1Tb Personal Video Recorder (serial no. ICEXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) -  no longer functions one week after delivery."

I'm not sure that is the serial number. I got it from a sticker on the box, just above the MAC address. I wasn't going to pull out the cupboard just to make sure it was right.

Has anyone who doesn't have an outstanding pre-paid SKIPPA order received the letter from IceTV's Administrators inviting them to register as unsecured creditors?

Why don't subscribers appear to be being treated as unsecured creditors? I have pre-paid IceTV for services out to 2020.

I wouldn't recommend registering as an unsecured creditor. You just end up getting bombarded with meeting minutes and reports all written in 'accountant'. It just makes for depressing reading when you realise how bad the situation is, how much money the insolvency firm is making (at your expense) and how unlikely it is you'll ever see any money.

I made that mistake a couple of times when clients went belly up. Now I just write off the debt and move on.

Allow me to assure everyone who is an 'unsecured creditor'. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING!

I have been through this too many times to count. The administrators get first dibs on anything. That's followed by staff entitlements, then secured creditors (banks etc.) followed by those with the presence to extract payment (ATO, larger suppliers etc.).

Unsecured creditors are way down the list and rarely, if ever, receive anything. If you haven't received your Skippa, begin action immediately to recover your funds through your credit card company or Paypal. If those options aren't available, your best bet is to just curl up in the foetal position and vow to never make the same mistake again.

P.S. Anyone in the market for a near new Skippa? Only two weeks old, hardly used (three recordings). Going cheap.
