IceTV EPG Content / Nine News is now 1 hour
January 07, 2014, 09:14:15 AM
Qld Nine news has been 6pm + 1 hour for a little while but ICE has continued to list it each night as 6pm + 30 mins. The following Current Affair is now 7pm + 30 min.

Not sure if this is a permanent change by Nine.

The downside to this fix is that the program description does not have things like Actors, directors, year etc which Justepg would add from the xml data, which we are not getting!

I still don't understand why ICE simply can't append this info to the description text field for Topfield PVRs. I/we've asked plenty of times but never had any clear response. That's an incredibly easy solution which would take a capable developer about 5 mins to add, and does not require any coordination or action by Topfield.

I found my EPG did not fetch when I started my Topfield today so I went to the ICE site and find it extremely slow. I guess the two are related.

Note my general web access is normal and fast. Also, this ICE forum is fine. The slowness is only on the ICE site guide and "my account" pages etc.

I agree, a few extra columns in the subscriber configuration table and an extra few lines in the SQL query that produces the EPG data and we're in business.  Wrap that in a bit of PHP and the make the UI pretty and it's ready for release.

I am just suggesting that ICE augment the description field in the data they return to the Topfield PVR when it polls for the EPG. It's just a small addition to whatever ICE code that generates that description. ICE already have the data because we can see it in the xmltv feed. There is no UI change required anywhere.

Good luck Mike.

I've been running my own nightly scheduled program for the last 7 years which pulls the ICE xmltv feed and pushes the data to my toppy 5000. It augments the standard program description with the director, actors, rating, repeat, aspect, etc tagged fields. It constrains the total field width of course and is very simple to do. I asked if ICE could do a similar thing for their interactive site feed to the newer Topfields but got no response. Should take a capable ICE developer little time to develop/test and, best of all, require no collaboration from Topfield.

I see this issue on my 7100+ randomly also, maybe about once per week. I never recall seeing this before the last firmware. Using ICE of course. I usually notice when I bring up the guide and one or more channels are blank. Sometimes they repopulate just by cycling around the guide display.

Smart Recording on Android / Re: ICE on SGII
April 11, 2012, 10:39:53 PM
Same thing happens on my HP touchpad (tablet) running Android ICS 4.0.4 so it ain't specific to your SGII.

I have loaded the upgrade to a 7100+ and am now not receiving EPG or timed recordings.  Have tried resending recordings from the IceTV website.  Have tried factory reset.  Any other suggestions?

Due to a bug in the firmware (I believe) you also have to press the red button in the ICE settings page to force the ICE updates to occur. Make sure you have done a factory reset at some point after loading the new firmware. Then press that red button, re-enter your ICE settings, and then go immediately to the ICE site and "resend all recordings". Then reset your PVR to force an immediate update. My EPG and timers updated within seconds after doing this.

The factory reset should clear the ICE cache but it does not appear to do so. All works fine after doing this though. Much better then previous firmwares.

At first only on MY Week, but now it's also been set on my Toppy. The rogue show is called RBT and airs on next Wednesday at 8:05pm on Nine.

Have you any keywords matching in your ICE guide? Any "phantom" timers I have ever had have always been due to my keyword matches.

But as I also said, and as grampus quotes from IceTV support, the forum is not an official support channel.

Yeah, we know that. I'm just saying it is silly and inefficient. If I was running ICETV support I would post here profusely. It would cost me little time and save heaps of one-on-one phone calls and emails. Communication tempers peoples frustrations.

Yes, but 8 wasn't a valid octal digit last time I checked. The error message appears to be about a DNS lookup. It's the same message as for pinging a non-existent DNS name (ping x.y.z).

Ping agrees with you that the "8" in the octal number is invalid but then seems to report all host name errors generically as "unknown host". Odd I know but it  reports the same on my linux and mac machines. I can measure the execution time and find ping runs 30 times faster reporting the unknown host error for the invalid "8" then it does for a bogus name where it incurs the extra round trip time to the DNS server.

We've been flat out today with more than normal phone calls. And yes, the forum is not the place to ask for official support

How silly and inefficient. There is not a lot of volume on the ICE forums so it would take a few minutes each day to scan new posts and respond where hundreds of people can find answers. They really prefer that each one of us phone or email them for a one on one response? Some of the things ICETV do don't make sense to me.

It looks as though ping might be trying to look up 008.008.008.008 as a DNS name rather than use it as an IP address.

The leading zero means the number is parsed as octal, i.e. base 8. E.g. try "ping 010.010.010.010" and you will see it pinging 8.8.8.8, as does "ping 0x8.0x8.0x8.0x8".

Daniel, what about item 1 in the OP? ICE currently prints the time of the "last EPG fetch" on the users account page. Surely it would be trivially easy for you to also add the time of the last timer fetch? We have been asking for this for a long time as it would make debugging the many ICE/topfield problems much easier, for everybody.
