General / Re: Padding time
January 19, 2023, 12:27:54 PM
G'day,

Your timers will be set with the values that were in effect when the timers were created.

I have a 3 minute start padding and a 15 minute end padding. I think the default end padding is 30 minutes, so when I imported my timers, they all got a 30 minute end padding. Then with repeated timers, the next time a timer is generated, it looks like the previous padding is used, even though you may have changed your start or end padding.

The quickest way is to edit the timers and change them.

Go to your timers, highlight the ones to change, press OK, then the value you want to change, then the "properties" button (second row from the top and far right) and edit the values and save them.

The next time around, the values set here should be used.

Hope this helps.

A follow up.

I viewed the TS file in Windows Media Player, right clicked on the clip and selected subtitles, but nothing.

I viewed the TS file in Media Player Classic, right clicked on the clip but the subtitled option is greyed out.

I suspect that the subtitles information is not getting written to the TS file.

Now, I do recall that when my IceBox went through its first-time startup, it ended up at 4K resolution of 3840 horizontal. I now have it set at 1920, but I do recall there being a whole lot of acronyms for upscaling. When doing a search on how to turn subtitles in Windows Media Player, there was something about SSA, ASS and SRT. I also need to locate that screen that had these acronyms and see if that initial resolution has locked something out because of 4K. I do not know what SSA, ASS and SRT refer to.

No luck.

I set an instant recording of the tennis on 9GEM. When the commentators kicked in, the subtitles were there when watching it live. After a couple of minutes, I stopped it. When I replayed the few minutes of the recording, there were no subtitles shown.

I shall have to keep searching.

I have gone through the wiki on this, and it is basically what I am doing. I take it that no special files are needed.

I have saved a copy of the short recording and can post it.

While watching it live, the subtitles came through perfectly, however they do not show up in the recording.

The file is a copy from the Recordings folder in the IceBox and then a paste in my laptop. I have done no processing of the file, but no subtitles.

Now are the subtitles embedded in the .TS files because despite setting to display subtitles, nothing happens when played on the IceBox.

Let me know if it is OK to send the short clip. It is 63,350 kb in size and runs for 1min 48 seconds.

G'day,

Just a force of habit, but on my Beyonwiz T2, I had the following settings for the Up/Down/Left/Right set as

Up = > 90 sec
Down = < 30 sec
Left = < 10 sec
Right = > 30 sec

This let me get around a recording and skip ads.

Now with the IceBox, it is a little different, but left the Up and Down buttons free, or so I thought.

I was watching a recording and ads came up, so my first reaction was to hit the Up button. To my surprise, the recording jumped forward by 10 minutes! Thinking logically, I pressed the Down button and the recording jumped backwards by 10 minutes!

I cannot find where this is covered and if it is configurable?

Anyone come across this?

Thanks.

G'day,

I am trying to get subtitles show up un recordings with not much success.

I have tried recording a program that I know shows subtitles but cannot get it to show up in recordings.

I have setup subtitles and set it for all media and when press OK when playing the recording I see that subtitles are set, but no success.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

Quote from: MD on January 16, 2023, 07:20:15 PMSorry typo - all a bit front there ATM!!  Try again...

Did you get the support ticket regarding the software update before running all of the SETUP?

Yes thank you, mostly went fine but it gave me an ice guide error after the channel scan, haven't had a chance to look into it further yet.

The first time start up should go something like this.

Select Language.
Set Host name.
Confirm IP Address.

Now the important bit.
The next screen is the bit about SSH... DO NOT PICK NEXT FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES. LEAVE THIS SCREEN UP FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES. If you can, give it a few more minutes.

NOW after the short wait, pick Next.

This will give you the welcome to IceTV screen, and you may get some alerts about TVHeadend as it establishes a connection,

(I waited again here, just to be sure, but it is unnecessary.)

Then it is into the email and password for IceTV.

Then it is into scanning the channels and matching your IceTV account etc.

On the time zone, I did have to set the time zone and the time server.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: 7 Bravo / 75
January 13, 2023, 06:52:29 PM
G'day, from what I can see here, there is subtitle information on my standard LG Smart TV from 4:30 am on January 15.

Any earlier (and may be causing some issues) and there is just empty space for 7Bravo.

Thanks.

G'day,

I see from the latest IceTV e-mail, I see that the IceBox is now available, but there is conflicting information when I go to the web site

For me, I am extremely interested as my T2 decided to give up the ghost and make like a gift from Santa!

I would really like to know if units are being sold right now.

One other question.

I have been running a Harmony 650 remote control as the standard one suffered badly from the double click issue. Would the Harmony 650 be compatible with the IceBox?

As things stand, I am looking to get something as soon as is possible because you get so used to the benefits of a PVR.

G'day,

I have an iPhone 13 and running iOS 15.5.

SBS have been fiddling with things. They had the English edition of the Indian news on Channel 35 at 8 am daily, and then suddenly moved it to the HD channel, same time but different title. That basically threw out all recordings set for it.

So I went to set the recording via the app, only apart from showing upcoming episodes and settng it as a favourite, there are no other options to set it as a recording, single or series.

Now, I can set the recording from my T2, and the entries show up in the app, however you cannot change anything via the app because again, all that comes up s the option to see upcoming episodes and set it as a favourite.

Is this something that SBS is doing or IceTV?

Quote from: Daniel Hall at IceTV on May 23, 2022, 07:53:06 PMHi raj954,

Thanks for the heads up, we have updated 9GO! with the new triplets.

As for SBS World Watch it looks like SBS sent us the wrong information and cross checking it looks like they sent us the SBS triplets by mistake, this has also been corrected now.

If you refresh the guide it will download the correct channel information now.

Thanks. I did a reboot and all OK now.

Quote from: Daniel Hall at IceTV on May 23, 2022, 11:57:44 AMHi grumpy_geoff,

Cheers for the heads up, looks like we had a typo in Perth, this has been fixed, rebooting the T4 should be enough to get it to download the updated channel information.

There is also an issue in Sydney.

First doing a rescan to pick up SBS World Watch, a similar blank entry appeared for 9GO

Here before the scan, the bouquet file for channel 99 was

#SERVICE 1:0:1:423:420:1012:EEEE0000:0:0:0:

and it worked ok. After the scan, it became

#SERVICE 1:0:1:428:420:1012:EEEE0000:0:0:0:

and that saw a blank for Channel 99 in the IceTV EPG.

Now for SBS World Watch, I had nothing to compare it with a BEFORE. All I have after the scan is

#SERVICE 1:0:1:308:300:3202:EEEE0000:0:0:0:

It gives a blank entry for the IceTV EPG. I have no idea as to what it needs to be.

Hope this helps.

I have tried the usual power down and reboot, and disable IceTV, and then enable IceTV and fetch the EPG and timers.

Oh, and mine is a T2.

Beyonwiz / Re: Timers being sent to wrong channel
July 04, 2016, 09:50:43 PM
G'day,

I've just been through something similar having Gove from a "dead" DP-P1 to a T2.

THe whole thing of channels as we know them has been turned on its head. The Tx does not understand LCNs as such. With pointers from IceTV support, I ended up manually editing the terrestrial .tv file so that just the channels I want are there. The bouquet favourites and last scanned (I think) were emptied of all channels.

Now, I have just one channel where duplicates normally are, and are grouped.

So, I have channels 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 24, 30, 32, 33, 70, 71, 72, 73, 76, 90, 92, 93, and 94

If you are prepared to edit the .tv files yourself you can give it a go. Use keep a copy of the original ones.

Basically, it has to do with line numbers.

You will see a whole lot of identical lines. These are where no channels are present. In the metro areas, on line 3' you will see that line is not like the ones where no channels. The same will be for the next two. These are for channels 1 (One), 2 (ABC 1), 3 (SBS) then the next line with data for a channel will be for 7, then no channel for the next, then 9......

Now without listing the entire file, you get the idea.

Basically, the channel numbers as we know them are now lines in this file, with 1 starting on line 3. It becomes a case of figuring out which channels you want, and then editing the terrestrial .tv file. The reason you have effectively empty .tv files for the rest is to make sure that you do not have any alternate channels.

So far, I have not had any issues since doing this on my T2.

So, it is the channel you want plus 3 that gives you the line number. Don't delete the unwanted channels because this will give you "channel numbers" that will be all over the place.

So, it can be done, just a little more work, and by keeping a copy of the original and then the customised one, you can readily replace ones that get automatically updated.

Ah well, at least not as bad as what is happening with WIN and Southern Cross across the country with the channel swaps!

Always keep a copy of the originals.
