Does this feature have a version dependency?
No idea.  That would be a question for Dan.

I don't know if anyone has even tried leaving it in Suspend mode, to verify that it does wake up for scheduled recordings.  I've steered clear of it since discovering that it didn't respond to the remote control while in this mode.
I did a quick test and the IceBox did not wake out of suspend using addon v0.1.54.
It's not something that would/should be dealt with by the IceTV addon.  If anything, it would be handled at the LibreELEC level.  I suspect all USB operations are suspended in that mode, which is why it doesn't respond to the RCU.  That is just me guessing though.

Quote from: Jenolan on January 30, 2024, 09:15:12 AMAlmost everyday when I turn the TV HDMI to the Icebox it seems to be locked up. The remote will not garner a response and I need to reboot the system.

One time I tried removing and re-inserting the remote usb dongle (after waiting before inserting) this caused a re-boot anyway.

Have noticed that pressing the remote keys doesn't always seem to be recognised, yes changed the batteries, that's survivable but the need to boot all the time is getting tedious.

Thanks
Larry
Are you putting it into "Suspend" mode, from the power menu?

From what I've been told, the IceBox wakes itself up to service scheduled timers/recordings, but otherwise it remains suspended.  From my own personal testing, and IceBox in "Suspend" mode does not respond to the remote control, so the only way of "waking" it is to press the power button on the IceBox itself.

Short version... never select "Suspend" on the power menu.

I also note that the description for the Dakar Rally episodes is out of date - it refers to them racing through Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile.

The Dakar hasn't raced in South America since 2019.  The 2020-2024 editions have all been raced in Saudi Arabia.

Is there any chance of the description being updated?  Once again, it's a low priority, but it would be appreciated.

#1 - The power menu does have a "Suspend" option, however I do not recommend using it.  When I tried it during the early beta testing, I found that there was no way of waking the device from "Suspend" mode, other than pressing the power button on the IceBox.  The IceBox does not respond to the remote control when it is in "Suspend" mode.  In any case, the power used by the IceBox is fairly minimal.

#3 - No, it does not delete watched recordings automatically.  You need to delete them manually - either through the Kodi interface or the TVHeadend web interface.  Recordings are retained indefinitely, until the user deletes them.

Same problem again with the Monday 15 Jan episode - incorrectly marked as a repeat of the 2023 race, instead of a new episode of the 2024 race.

The description for every episode of The Chase Australia is as follows:
While general knowledge may be important to winning this competition, it is not necessarily the key. That would be the ability to stay one step ahead of The Chaser, an individual whose ability to answer questions is second to none; a genius in fact - and in facts. If you can beat them, you've got it made.

Andrew O'Keefe

Larry Emdur replaced Andrew O'Keefe as host of The Chase Australia in 2021, and Ch7 don't show repeats of the O'Keefe episodes.  Any chance of the IceTV description being updated?

** This is a low priority, obviously.  It's just something that's been bugging me for a while.

Quote from: Lisa on December 01, 2023, 02:48:35 PMHi vader1111,

Thankyou for your email. It appears that there were some regions that hadn't "caught up" with the correct episode info. Hopefully it should be showing correctly shortly.
Please let me know if anything still looks amiss.

cheers,  Lisa
Looks much better now, thanks!

IceTV EPG Content / The Chase Australia - repeats?
December 01, 2023, 01:12:11 PM
I am wondering if next week's episodes of The Chase Australia (5pm, Prime7 HD, weekdays) should be marked as repeats?

Next week is the start of the OzTam summer non-ratings period.  Historically, Ch7 has stopped showing new episodes of The Chase Australia as soon as the non-ratings period begins.  I would be very surprised if this were to change in 2023.

At present, none of next week's episodes have have series/episode numbers listed.  This makes it impossible for your system to check automatically whether or not they're repeats, hence their current marking as new episodes.

I suspect that Ch7 will be showing repeats from next week, probably until just before the next ratings period begins in late January.

Can you please investigate, and update the EPG data accordingly?

Looking at it another way, if BBC is able to provide its audience with Scrublands then I would have thought that ABC would be able to provide its audience with Doctor Who.

The ABC wasn't matching the $$$$ that the House of Mouse offered.  They weren't even asked to bid.  The Mouse wanted world-wide rights (excluding UK), and the ABC probably were pretty much told "this is the way it is".

... and comparing a relatively minor show like Scrublands, with a world-wide franchise like Doctor Who, is just plain silly.

Disney offered the BBC bucket loads of money, as a result of which they now own the world-wide rights for Doctor Who (excluding the UK, where it is still broadcast on the BBC).

General / Re: Replacement SSD
November 05, 2023, 12:26:42 AM
It's fixed most, but not all, of the problems.

The one outstanding issue that I'm aware of is program updates sometimes resulting in incorrect timers being programmed on the IceBox - resulting in repeats before (i.e. a repeat of the previous week's episode), or after (possibly in SD, on a multi-channel).

Dan is looking into this, but the somewhat random and infrequent nature of the problem is making bug hunting difficult.

7Flix on Prime is also missing EPG data, at least according to the WWW version of the IceTV TV Guide.

All other channels/services appear to be present, at least for Tuesday.
