Quote from: Ian_AW on March 28, 2024, 05:49:36 PMI take it that with digital media, the IceBox monitors for "flashing discs" you see in old movies that alert the projectionist to first get ready to switch projectors and then to switch them so that you get a relatively smooth transition from one real to another.

That being the case, with digital media, a whole lot more information is also contained in these markers. I would guess that there should be data marking the start and end of the recording.

It would be great if a bookmark could be placed at the actual start and end of the recording. Also, it would be nice to have a key sequence to jump forward to the next bookmark and jump backwards to the previous bookmark.
The beta testers have already requested bookmarks at the scheduled start & stop times.  I'm sure Daniel has it on his "to do" list, I'm just not sure how easy it is to do.

The up/down arrows jump to the next chapter, if one exists.  If the recording has no chapters, then they jump forwards/backwards by 10 minutes.  So the functionality for that part of your request already exists in Kodi.

Quote from: raymondjpg on March 28, 2024, 10:01:59 AMYou could try the Force Scan option in the Web UI Configuration|Networks|Force Scan.

Youve lost me there Raymond. How do you get to "Web UI Configuration|Networks|Force Scan"?
In the TVHeadend web interface (i.e. Web UI)...
  • Select the Configuration tab
  • Select the DVB Inputs tab
  • Select the Networks tab
  • Select the DVB-T Network
  • Click on the Force Scan button
NOTE: I have never tried this, and it has never been a part of the beta testing.  I have no idea whether or not it would work.  I suspect it would force TVHeadend to re-scan the network, however it would not map any newly discovered channels to the respective IceTV EPG data.

Quote from: Hati on March 21, 2024, 06:51:44 PMThe process worked as advertised, except for one small (or large if you ask my better half) issue: the rescan completely ignored Channel 7. Got everything but 7 back.

What now?
Soft reset, and hope that it picks up the 7 network next time around.

A few things to note about the automatic commercial detection...
  • The detection process runs after the recording has finished.  It can take a while, depending on which channel you were recording (SD vs HD), and how long the recording was (i.e. file size).  Be patient!
  • The detection process handles one recording at a time, to prevent overloading the CPU.  This means you may need to be extra patient if you have multiple recordings finishing around the same time.
  • The commercial detection works really well on most recordings - but not all.  There are some shows where it really struggles (most notably The Chase Australia), but I'd suggest that it does a great job on 95% of recordings.  Hopefully Dan will have time to continue tweaking it, now that this major release is out the door.

Having tested this firmware over the last few weeks, I think it's a massive improvement on the previous firmware.  Dan has done an awesome job.  Hopefully all the users will appreciate the hard work he has put into improving the product as much as he has.

Motorsport: World Rally Championship
2024 Abu Dhabi Desert
Sunday 24 March
ACT/Canberra

According to the description, this is actually part of the World Rally Raid Championship, not the World Rally Championship.  Rally Raid is the type of racing made famous by the Dakar Rally, it's mostly cross country, with stages which can be hundreds of kilometers in length.  It is not the same as the WRC, which is entirely raced on formed roads, with relatively short stages (usually < 30 km in length).

R flag removed,

cheers,  Lisa
Thanks Lisa.

Both the IceTV and YourTV EPG have changed, and are now showing S13E33 (instead of S13E31).  The same episode appears to be scheduled for Prime7 as the main 7 network.  It appears that everything is consistent now, even if it's not the same as what was previously scheduled.

Contrary to the EPG information published by Prime7, I can confirm that today's episode of The Chase Australia was indeed a repeat.

Please remove the repeat flag from Monday's episode.

Quote from: Tiphanee on March 13, 2024, 03:23:52 PMHi vader1111 -

I've just had a quick look at our guide as well as cross checked with other guides, and it seems that tomorrow's episode is a premiere which does seem highly unusual. I will keep an eye on it and see if it changes tomorrow. If it does in fact follow the usual pattern of being a repeat, then I will take the 'r' flag off Monday so it can be recorded as a premiere.

Cheers,

Tiphanee

7HDThe Chase Australia
Season 12, Episode 116
YourTV shows S12E116 for Sydney & Melbourne, but S13E31 for Canberra.  I haven't checked other cities.

For some reason, the EPG information for Prime7 in Canberra is different than that for 7 in the other capital cities.

The IceTV EPG reflects the currently listed episode information.

Awesome, thanks Tiphanee.

Tomorrow's episode of The Chase Australia is currently showing as a new episode, S13E31, which is allegedly being repeated on Monday (19/3/23).

Ch7 haven't shown a new episode of The Chase Australia on a Thursday in several years.  New episodes are shown on Mon-Wed, with repeats on Thurs-Fri.  Thus, seeing a new episode on Thurs, repeated the following Monday, seems highly unusual.

Can you please confirm that Thursday's episode is correct?  Monday's episode is currently marked as a repeat, when it's likely a new episode, so there are implications for people missing a new episode if the problem isn't resolved.

17:00 on Prime7 HD (Canberra) is currently marked as "To Be Advised", for both Monday & Tuesday next week.  It should be The Chase Australia (new episodes).

Does this feature have a version dependency?
No idea.  That would be a question for Dan.

I don't know if anyone has even tried leaving it in Suspend mode, to verify that it does wake up for scheduled recordings.  I've steered clear of it since discovering that it didn't respond to the remote control while in this mode.
I did a quick test and the IceBox did not wake out of suspend using addon v0.1.54.
It's not something that would/should be dealt with by the IceTV addon.  If anything, it would be handled at the LibreELEC level.  I suspect all USB operations are suspended in that mode, which is why it doesn't respond to the RCU.  That is just me guessing though.
