My wireless connection strength is usually poor (sometimes good). What are the possible "strength" levels? Also, how adversely would a "poor" strength effect things?

My wife is at home with our baby daughter and love watching Dr. Phil, when it was on nine the episode name was included as part of the info - e.g. Dr. Phil - Children at risk. Are you able to do that for channel 10 as well?

My IceBox wireless signal often reads as ‘poor’, however I have a 2m line of sight gap between my laptop and the IceBox. Am I correct in assuming that when I communicate with my Toppy via wireless the signal goes laptop - to - wireless router - to - icebox? And therefore if I improve the signal from my router to the icebox signal strength should improve? (It still transfers files on and off the toppy, but I assume a stronger signal will get a slightly improved transfer rate?)
