SKIPPA / Re: IceTv in Voluntary Administarion
October 08, 2015, 12:50:51 AM
Well this really sucks. I got an e-mail just last week telling me they were going to ship after the weekend, and now this. If this goes on and someone doesn't take over the company and deliver the paid for Skippas, then I don't see how anyone could stay loyal to just using their guide service. I know they wouldn't get another cent out of me, and I've got about 5 years of IceTV subscrition service left.

Just sucks

I meant that I don't have shipping status shown at all, it doesn't even seem to have a  spot where that could be shown.

You are right. That is strange. When viewing your order online it does not show the Shipped status section like it should. There should be an extra line below the Total line - but it's not shown on your order. Refreshing the browser makes no difference.

I'll get that fixed for you (and anyone else who has the same problem).

I've got that problem too Dave.

IMO that also confirms that the shows will be processed on your own box and not on a server.
Yes. I agree. Ad skip processing is in the Skippa, not on IceTV servers.
That could imply that frequent ad detection updates may have to be downloaded (no doubt under an automated push update) in order to keep up with commercial broadcasters trying to circumvent Skippa's ad detection.

I don't think this is something we're really going to have to worry about. 5 to 10 thousand Skippa users? Probably not worth their time. Now if it were 5 or 10 million, then I would think it would be an issue.

SKIPPA / Re: New IceTV branded PVR

The 2400 is already capable of handing 4HD streams plus a playback, so it has the grunt as is. The programming logic to handle 4 simultaneous recordings is also already there. All it needs is another twin tuner module and we're there.

As far as having multimedia capabilities in a PVR, my vote would be against that. So far, I've not come across any PVR that will do both jobs well - PVR and Multimedia. I would much rather have a totally reliable and highly capable PVR in one box and have another for the Multimedia functions. Most modern TV's already have a lot of these functions built in these days anyway.

So, to sum up, I would like a TAPable PVR with the reliability of my trusty TRF 2400(s). Being able to program ICE from within the PVR is a must ala ICE's Humax.

I agree 100%. Give me a reliable true quad tuner pvr that will work 100% with IceTV and I'll snap it up. I'm doing my recordings manually now using the guide info for my favorites off the IceTV site. IceTV and the TRF2400 wasn't reliable enough, and once I upgraded to Win7 64bit my TED/TEDS setup quit working, so have to set all timers by hand, merge and adjust padding etc. A pain, but I get my recordings.

Now the problem is new shows and new seasons are all starting at the same time and there is a couple of nights I need 4 tuners to get everything. Maybe I watch to much TV.. LOL

I'm looking forward to this. If it can have the Topfield capabilities, along with true quad tuner, and an ice interface that works every time I'd get one.

I've been a Topfield user forever, and like some previous users posted I still use TED/TEDS with my TRF2400. The only real problem with my current setup is there are too many times that 3 interesting shows are on at the same time, or overlap by a few minutes and you can only record 2 events. Also the fact that keeping the TED/TEDS combo along with EPGUploader updated with channel changes is a PAIN.

It definitely needs commercial skipping capabilities, whether automatic, or 1 minutes jumps forward and a 15 second back skip key.

Also a 1.5 or 2.0 TB hard drive.

Would also be nice to be able to substitute recording names in advance. Such as all the CSI's. With TED/TEDS I have it setup to rename the shows CSI Vegas, CSI NY, CSI Miami. It would also be nice to get the extended info for shows that are recorded in an extended times included instead of just  the info for the first recorded program.

Would be nice as a Christmas Present this year, but I'll accept it as a Birthday Present on Jan. 22nd (I'll buy myself the present of course :)

XMLTV (General) / Re: Missing Channels in xmltv file

You just need to go to the My Account page and enable those channels. Looking at your account, I see that several channels, including those two, are set to "Disabled". Just change them to either "All" or a particular LCN, and they'll start showing up in the XML guide feed.

Russell

Thanks Russell. I think I was somehow modifying a test account I had setup a while back to try and figure out what issues I was having with Ice Interactive. Once I was sure I was in the correct account I could see that the changes hadn't been made.

All fixed now. Thanks Again.

That's true -- it was a bug actually that was recently fixed.  Glad you got it working again anyway.

Russell

So if we are just downloading the .xml file for use with TED/S what do we need to change? I've checked GEM and 7mate in My Settings but I'm still not seeing them listed in the .xml file that is downloaded. Been a couple of days now.

Csutak40, are you seeing any listings for Gem and 7mate yet? I still can't find any listings in the .xml file, but I can see them on the Ice site. So can't figure out why they are not being downloaded.

Let us know if that works. I've got to configure my TED.ini file  for 7mate but haven't been able to find any listings for it yet in the .xml file downloaded from the Ice site. Guess it's still to early for them to be putting the data in it.

By the way, I'm using TED/S with a 2400 and have been for quite a while. I'll probably go to Ice Interactive with the next firmware upgrade. Still had to many failed timers to rely on the feature. I know they are set with TED/S so have been more then happy using it.

Just wish we could have gotten John to continue support with the new Toppy.

I managed to get some info from Ice, and seems to have sorted out my problems.

Has Ice mentioned if your firewall/router needs to have any specific ports opened in it for this to all work?

I'm having some guide issues with my just purchased 2400 and older 5000 also. If I change the ICE configuration on their site to match the 2400, the the data downloaded causes TED/TEDS for the 5000 to crash. Waiting for response from ICE on this issue at teh moment.

I'm not aware of any user installed apps for the Beyonwiz PVRs. So I think what you're after isn't possible at the moment.

You should have a look at www.beyonwizsoftware.net, then, and in this particular context at WizRemote :)

Wizremote needs a fair bit of setup on the local PC, and needs to reboot the BW after making any timer changes.

Admittedly, though, www.beyonwizsoftware.net hacks are mostly scripting efforts doing inventive things with what's already on the box.

Interesting. I'll have to check wizremote out after I've purchased a Wiz :)

I'll have more time on my hands in a couple of months and might dig into the internals and try my hand at coding. Getting ready to retire from the bus driving business.

I'll probably get a BeyonWiz because of the multimedia streaming features. One less box to worry about. It does have a good feature set.

Can the hard drive be upgraded by just replacing it with a larger harddrive?

Thanks

It's possible to schedule recordings via IceTV Interactive, allowing you to use a web browser, web browsing mobile phone, the IceTV iPhone app and the IceTV Widget.

More info is available here:
http://www.icetv.com.au/about/interactive.shtml

Does that help you?

I am aware of IceTV Interactive, but was hoping that something similar to TED/TEDS with IceTV (which I have been a subscriber to for over two years now) was available.

Thanks

Hi.

Subject pretty much says it all. Is it possible to schedule recordings for the BeyonWiz on a PC as I currently do TEDS/Topfield 5000 ?

Thanks
