General / Re: suitable alternate remote for ICEbox?

Quote from: raymondjpg on September 22, 2024, 09:45:05 AMTake a look at the Kodi Addon Keymap Editor. That may give you what you need, and more!

No thanks, can't be bothered to stuff around with it. I had over a year to get used to the on-screen buttons, and I have.

On that note, the remote still works as good as on day 1, happy days.

Getting Help / Re: Stubborn timers

Quote from: raymondjpg on August 03, 2024, 07:52:05 PMyour best option is probably to raise a support ticket

That's what I tried to avoid, since is not exactly a major fault, just an inconvenience, but ultimately I'll probably have to do it.

Quote from: raymondjpg on August 03, 2024, 09:22:53 AMThe normal way is to remove a series recording on an IceBox web page or on the iPhone.

That's exactly what she has done.

Quote from: raymondjpg on August 03, 2024, 09:22:53 AMYou say timers have been set up via the app (iPhone) for "a number of Ch9 sub channels".

Misspoke there. I was thinking their streaming service. In actual fact it is only 9 GEM.

Quote from: raymondjpg on August 03, 2024, 09:22:53 AMtry setting up a series recording, wait a while, 10 minutes or so, then go back and remove the series recording.

Did that as well, no joy. Those timers come back seemingly out of nowhere.

They were also delated from Tvheadend as well as the timer listing from the Icetv website.

Getting Help / Stubborn timers
August 02, 2024, 07:47:42 PM
Hope the collective has a solution for this problem.

The Icebox is used by my better half, I have no interest in it, but have to be the local tech support guy. This is not the problem.

With the Olympics on, she set up timers via the app (iPhone) for a number of Ch9 sub channels.

Now she can't get rid of them. This is the issue.

She deleted the timers from the app, but within minutes they are populated back again.

I have deleted them via Tvheadend, same story.

I looked at our account and all the timers attached to the account, no Olympic recordings on the list.

How can we get rid of these pesky timers other then deleting each recording after they finished?

Yep, I know the feeling. All good.

Started a topic on this in the "Getting help" section.

The solution is to do a soft reset to get the system to do a rescan. Bit of a pain as you need to set up your account and all that but got the channels sorted.
#7
Fixed, a soft reset helps from Settings/LibreELEC/System/Reset system settings to defaults.

It was a bit of a pain to go through the account setup and all that plus the menu customisation I did will need to be done again, but ultimately all channels are present now so it's a win.

Quote from: MD on March 21, 2024, 10:49:06 PMIt's tedious but have you tried a software update when it will rescan its channels?

No, at the moment I was just manually adding the channels via TVheadend. It worked to a degree, but I can't get epg data  for them or a tuner to work with.

I'll see if I can dig up the manual update instructions...

I guess better start a topic in this section.

As the title suggest, the latest firmware update went like a dream. No issues at all, as the label suggested.

Except for one thing. The automated channel scan failed to pick up all the 7 channels. Not one. Everything else is present though.

I have tried the Settings/General/Channels/Channel scan, gives me a "None of the connected PVR backends support scanning for channels". There is no way of rescanning at all.

I have also checked antenna connections to the three dual tuners I run. Of course this was a "because I can" job, no hardware was touched in the update process.

Reboots did not help either.

Recordings created before the update for Channel 7 stayed in place, but of course they wont record because I have no CH 7.

Of course this happens again when we are about to leave for a longish weekend from home...

Quote from: vader1111 on March 21, 2024, 06:57:04 PMSoft reset, and hope that it picks up the 7 network next time around.

Did that, no joy. As a matter of fact, going to Settings/General/Channels and selecting Channel scan, gives me a "None of the connected PVR backends support scanning for channels". WTF??

Quote from: DeltaMikeCharlie on March 21, 2024, 07:37:08 PMI found that my Ice-supplied USB tuner is susceptible to loose antenna connections.  Giving the antenna connection a bit of tweak and re-seating helps when I have tuning issues.

Tried that too. No joy. I am using proper crimp on RG6 connectors, but I moved them a bit anyway. Still no 7 network.

I know it for a fact it was present before the update.

The process worked as advertised, except for one small (or large if you ask my better half) issue: the rescan completely ignored Channel 7. Got everything but 7 back.

What now?

Getting Help / Weird recording behaviour
December 19, 2023, 11:21:05 PM
Tried searching this issue, but either it wasn't discussed or my search terms were wrong.

So far it seems to be restricted to movies recorded and not our regular shows.

What is happening is that we are able to watch and jump through the first 20 to 30% of the recording. Than when we try to jump again (usually 3 minutes first, then 30 seconds twice then 10 second back or forward) the progress bar jumps to the end of the recording, but the recording goes back to a point and keeps playing from there.

After this, any subsequent attempts to jump will results in returning to the same location in the recording. We don't use bookmarks or tempter with the recording in any shape or form.

However, if we use the screen controls (arriving to it with the "OK" button) the recording can be fast forwarded and slowed back to normal play right to the end of the recoding, although the progress bar will keep showing the end of the recoding.

Very puzzling although not terribly important on the list of priorities.

Any ideas?

General / Re: Showing subtitles when playing a recording
December 06, 2023, 11:15:30 PM
Right, so what exactly are you guys looking at? I just did the 1.11.3 update and subtitles now work beautifully.

I press the ok button (between the arrows), from the menu that comes up at the bottom of the screen, select the second rightmost icon, turn on subtitles in the window that pops up and PRESTO. Lovely subtitles on display.

Not all channels have subtitles. I tested on 7 HD.

WEKK DONE TEAM, fantastic effort.

Getting Help / Re: Weird Freeze/s
November 17, 2023, 07:47:49 AM
This happens to our box as well. Since the SSD change, the issues that fix meant to address have not occurred, but this pause/freeze did a few times. The box is not locked in our instance, still reacts to the remote and we are able to get back to normal, although not sure of the steps, the better half deals with that.

Getting Help / Re: USB HDD disappearing act

Once you login (root/icebox) type 'mount' to see if it is still mounted.

Thank you kindly. I got in fine and "mount" showed me that the drive is not listed (currently unplugged). Plugged it in to the laptop again and lo and behold, a drive problem was picked up by Windows. After letting it get fixed, the drive showed up on IceBox again.

It looks like some files on the drive got corrupted when I unplugged it, causing it to not mount properly. Strange that the box \was still reporting removal though...

The lesson is that you need to use the options menu and click on "Remove safely" to unmount properly.

Thank you gentlemen, could not have done it without your help.
