On the basis of the wording used I am 90% confident that the first shipment has landed at Sydney airport. The uncertainty is over how long it will take for them to reach the warehouse (something that may well be outside the control of IceTV).

Ian

What has been in their control if I may be a smart-ar*e  :P
Ah their communication and promises: Got it.  ::)

Don't be disappointed for a Friday afternoon email. (insert "bursting bubble") 8)
This post made by Dave from IceTV at 2.37pm on another thread resets expectations - http://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/skippa/44/skippa-pre-order/4483/msg22415#msg22415
---snip---
The first big shipment of Skippas left the factory on Monday and is expected to arrive at the Sydney warehouse today, tomorrow, or Monday and be posted ASAP
---end snip---

That is not resetting expectations. It's just guessing. And this is just the first shipment.
The other shipment is apparently a week after that. That's shipment, meaning ship is filled and leaving dock.....hmmmm based on history it's going to be a long wait.
Hope I'm wrong.

On Tuesday evening I was provided with the following information:

"We are still expecting the tracking numbers for this entire mass shipment of Skippas to be to sent to consumers this week and customers to start receiving their Skippas a couple of days later (depending on where they are located)."

Not sure what this really means. Presumably tracking numbers will not be sent before the units are prepared for delivery. So, it may be we get the tracking numbers Friday night and first deliveries are not until early next week.

From IceTv:

I can tell by your invoice number that your Skippa won't be in the first big shipment (which has left the factory and is on it's way to Australia). Butt he good news is that the rest of the Skippas are only 1 week behind the current batch. Being in Melbourne you may just receive it before the end of the month as promised.

Has anyone received a Skippa yet or at least the shipping notification? I know I'm one of the last 1000 but hear nothing yet.

Nothing yet. My order is about 480th so may not be in the first (or is it the 2nd) delivery batch.

How did you find out your order number of 480? Contact icetv?
I can't see it on the order confirmation (only a tax invoice number).

Thanks in advance

Whilst I don't wish to get involved in the arguments and ongoing niggling going on in this thread, preferring to stay neutral now and just wait...

I will say this...

Altech-UEC who are apparently making the Skippa, have so far manufactured over 25 million PVR units world wide, they are no small manufacturer.

It is in fact very true that Australia's market is small compared to the rest of the world, that a quite well known point of agreement amongst many in the IT and electronics industry.

It is entirely possible that the manufacturer did in fact push the order back, as an order for 2000 skippas say for example vs an order for 50000 for company X in Europe – you can see that they they don't stand a chance...

This is commonly an issue with dealing with large OEM manufacturers overseas and is not specific to ICETV.

Now how this delay has been handled... Again as stated on whirlpool, I'm just not prepared to go into and debate, I'm not desperate for it so I'm happy waiting until it eventually surfaces, which considering I ordered on the 25th as well, may be a couple of weeks or may be next week, we shall see....

Mark

But the whole point is the handling of the delay. As a consumer in good faith handing over money I should not have to care/worry where the product is designed, developed, manufactured, shipped from. That's the company's (who sells the product) responsibility. I deal with them and not with their manufacturer, because that's how the process works.

Why didn't they wait until they had 500 units (Randomly picked here) in stock knowing they were of the quality they expected.
Anyway I will end here as we can't do anything about it. Let's hope this is the last delay :-)

I just got the same email.

More disappointmnet. No indication where individaul purchasers are in the delivery process.

I would have thought it would have been appaent before now that the 'last week of August' timeframe was not going to be satisfied.

Ian

To me it would have been more satisfying if they mentioned during the pre-order time that this is a "work in progress" product that hasn't been fully tested yet and treat it almost as a kickstart product. Then I could have made the decision to spend a couple of hundred $$ and not receiving any product for a while. 2x failing on an end date is not valid for a pre-order.
They always have you by saying "We don't want to deliver a product you're not happy with. We want to deliver quality etc etc.". You can't win that argument.

----There you go----

Thank you for pre-ordering a SKIPPA® from IceTV as part of our special introductory promotion. We are sure that you will be pleased with your purchase, as the first SKIPPA® review has been positive. Click here to read the review

During our pre-order sale you saved up to $200 off RRP, and will be among the first to receive a SKIPPA® in Australia.

Allow me to provide you with an update on the fulfillment status of your order.

Following a small initial run, the factory pushed our mass manufacturing slot back for a second time. Australia's order volumes are relatively small when compared to international markets. This makes it difficult for any Australian vendor to obtain priority, hence the delay. However, we are assured by the factory that our new production date will be adhered to.

A small quantity of SKIPPAs® will be shipped next week to customers who placed their order first. From September 10 onwards, we will fulfill the remaining orders on a 'first come, first served' basis. This means that every customer will receive their ordered SKIPPA® in September.

We apologise sincerely for the unforeseeable delay and assure you that IceTV is endeavouring to fulfill your pre-order as soon as possible.

Kind Regards

Heinz Herrmann, CEO

Last update I saw was about delivery this week.

Just wondering if anyone in the forum has received theirs yet?  If so, what shipping method was used?  (Just thinking about what will happen if no one is at home and the box can't be left (living in a high rise apartment).)

Thanks

Nothing here mate. I emailed them a few days ago and this is their response.

--- snip---
I assume by your question that you haven't received a tracking number yet. I cannot see where you are in the queue as the shipping is being handled by a logistics company and I don't have access to their system.

Everyone who ordered a Skippa will receive an update from IceTV in the next day or two.

This is typical new products. Create the hype, promise, don't deliver, delay, bad support. This is my 3rd "new" product in the last year and ALL of them have been like this. Just have to wait.
