The update folder is a shared folder via Samba, which points to '/storage/.update'

Quote from: IanV on April 23, 2024, 12:58:17 PMWith regard to the Roadmap, Item 4 is a rewrite of the iPhone app.  When doing this, can you modify it to operate full screen on an iPad, please?  My wife decides what to record and she finds the current interface too small and "fiddly"

Ian

I can safely say you will be happy with the update, which should be out quite soon.

General / Re: Using HD Homerun with IceBox

You should remove the USB tuner if there is no antenna attached as it will cause issues.

However, if you go into the TVHeadEnd web page (http://icebox_ip_address:9981) and then into "Configuration" => "DVB Inputs" => "TV adapters".

On this page you will see the HDHomeRun tuners, select each one, then on the Parameters on the right hand side ensure that "Enabled" is checked and that under "Networks" you have "DVB-T Network" selected. Make sure you click "Save" at the bottom of the parameters on each of the tuners, you must save before going to the next tuner.

It's a solid 'maybe'.

While it works fine with tvheadend, the current auto setup of the IceBox only supports configuration of directly attached tuners (either via USB or internally).

Getting Help / Re: IceBox Menu overscan problem
April 19, 2024, 02:22:06 PM
The proper way to get rid of overscan is to set your settings to "Expert" (this can be changed on any of the actual settings pages on the left hand side.

The setting to fix it is under "Settings" and then "Display", and when set to "Expert" the second last option is "Video calibration", this allows proper control of how big the IceBox output is.

Most TV's will have a setting for it, but it's not always called overscan sadly.

Quote from: panio-man on April 14, 2024, 10:29:19 PMDo I need to do a hard reset and start from fresh?

If you don't have any recordings, a hard reset might be worth a try.
A hard reset will wipe them. If you don't care the go ahead.

If you do have recordings you want to keep, you could try copying them off onto another computer (provided you have space.
I find that a computer on the same network will show ICEBOX in the Network folder.
Open it and navigate to the recordings folder and copy the contents to somewhere that has enough space (if you have space).

When the Icebox gets to the Login point, copy them back and log back in.

Note: I haven't tried this, so there may be issues.  It may be that you may need to follow with a soft reset the recapture the recordings.

Good Luck.

If you do this, then you must get the '.backups' folder from the "Recordings" share as well, and ensure that they are copied back onto the IceBox before completing the IceTV setup wizard.

Getting Help / Re: Pre/Post Padding of recordings.

Quote from: DeltaMikeCharlie on April 15, 2024, 04:18:38 PMI made this diagram about a year ago.  It attempts to explain the various places that padding can be added and their related priorities.

Some slight changes are that there is no IceTV DVR profile anymore, we just use the default profile after changing it's profile to matroska.

I would add, this is for now, however the settings will all be synched together at some point.

BYOB / Re: EPG Issue in BYO?
April 09, 2024, 02:33:37 PM
Quote from: raymondjpg on April 09, 2024, 01:14:21 PMIt looks like my IceBox EPG is still showing program times one hour later than they should be. It's possible that a timer rule issue posted at https://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=7932.0 is related.

There may be some clues as to what's happening in what is posted at https://tvheadend.org/d/5914-wrong-time-in-epg/3. Playing around with the EIT offset setting in Network config in the Web UI doesn't have any effect that I can see, as reported in this post, which also suggested no change in behaviour when running new network scan.

Is it all channels? or just some channels?

Getting Help / Re: Comskip not working
April 09, 2024, 01:30:09 PM
Quote from: Aardvark on April 09, 2024, 10:02:25 AMDid a bit of investigating and found one file back on 25 Mar which had been processed by Comskip

Ini:    /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.tvheadendicetv/comskip/comskip.ini

Looked in latest Addons log and found the following (and this program has no Comskip data)

2024-04-01 12:10:00.127 [  INFO] spawn: Sending: {'type': 'action', 'content': 'RunScript(service.icetv,register_commskip,"/storage/recordings/The Chelsea Detective/The Chelsea Detective-9Gem HD2024-04-0109-40.mkv")'}

Is this not working due to a typo commskip  rather than comskip as the exe is titled.

No, that command looks correct.

I have opened a ticket for you so we can grab your log file to try and find out what is going on.

Quote from: Daniel Hall at IceTV on April 04, 2024, 01:45:44 PMDoes this happen every time that you swap the IceBox?

Hi Daniel,

Yes, it does. This is the same connection I was using for my old Wiz up until a week or so ago. The only thing that has changed is the HDMI cable which I swapped out with the cable that came with the Icebox. Perhaps that is the problem and it somehow drops out for some reason. I shall play around and swap around some cables sometime tomorrow.

Cheers,
John

It's definitely worth trying a different cable, also if you have a 4K TV have you tried changing the Resolution back to 1080p as this will give a smoother experience and might help with this issue as well.

BYOB / Re: EPG Issue in BYO?
April 04, 2024, 01:52:40 PM
Quote from: raymondjpg on April 04, 2024, 01:24:29 PMThe ongoing issue with gaps in the EPG persists, particularly noticeable in my case with the Prime network, is probably being addressed, but doesn't appear to be fully fixed yet.

Today, with EPG unpopulated for many channels for Tuesday 9 April from midnight Monday 8 April was fixed by a reboot, but the EPG, at least on one channel, is one hour out.

I saw this as well on a Beyonwiz T2, but the issue was resolved by tuning to one of the affected channels, forcing an EPG update that fixed the time discrepancy.

Encouraged by this I went back to the IceBox, tuned to one of the affected channels, waited 5 minutes, then re-checked the EPG. It was still one hour out.

A repeated reboot of IceBox did not resolve the issue.

So with IceBox, a timer set for a program on one of the affected channels has not fired, because the timer shown on the IceBox web TV Guide page is one hour earlier than the time slot for the program registered in the IceBox EPG.

The one hour out could also be a symptom of daylight savings, there could be some weirdness until Sunday for the days after Sunday, but scheduled recordings will happen correctly as the guide data is updated.

Getting Help / Re: Remote Control
April 04, 2024, 01:45:44 PM
Quote from: johnmw1 on April 04, 2024, 12:37:03 PMLastly, I'm still having this issue where when I turn off my TV (Hisense) leave the Icebox turned on, and go back later to view more TV, the connection between them is lost and I have to reboot the Icebox to reconnect. It has still picked up my recordings, but I have just lost the connection.

I have looked through the settings on both, and as far as I can tell everything is set as it should be. I don't lose this connection with Fox etc when I turn the TV off.

Does this happen every time that you swap the IceBox?

It sounds like for some reason the HDMI connection is not being re-established when you switch to the input that the IceBox is connected to. I have seen this once or twice now with my test units (more so when using a HDMI switch in the middle). If you swap off the input and then back to the IceBox input it should just show up.

BYOB / Re: Automatic commerical detection
April 02, 2024, 03:34:44 PM
I have had a look through this one, and it looks like there was a bug that was causing commercial detection to still trigger when it was disabled. This was also causing existing commercial detection files to not be removed (so for older recordings ads were still being skipped during playback)

An update is going out this afternoon that will fix this, so the post processor command can be left as is.

Ok, so I have a question for everyone.

Is it really important to you have "LCN's" available? Especially as they are not used for channel changing or really anything apart from channel ordering (if you go through additional hoops). Channel ordering can also be achieved by simply sorting by name as well.

Especially as LCN's are not part of the actual DVB spec and are just added on for Australia and sent as additional data, which is why they are a bit hit or miss as to whether they get found or not.

Multiple transmitters are something we need to address however.
