Humax / Re: Humax 7500T random reset to factory default?

Thanks Doc.  I'll keep an eye on the unit for the next few days to see if it happens again.  If it does, I'll try a different cable.  It's a reasonably new cable and a decent quality one too so I hope it's not that.

Humax / Humax 7500T random reset to factory default?
February 20, 2014, 08:25:41 PM
Hi

I've had my Humax 7500T for 5 days.  I was loving the PVR until tonight.

In the middle of a program, and I suspect when a recording was scheduled to start, the unit went through a factory reset. I had to enter all of my settings after it went through the initial installation questions. I had to reconfigure my wifi, IceTV etc. I also noticed that there's a new software update (1.08.21) that installed.

Has anyone had this happen i.e. the random factory reset? I hope it's a one-off.

Also, we've noticed that our Samsung plasma TV PS551 now turns off after a few hours, which it never used to with our old Topfield. There is a power saving mode on the TV which switches it off after 4 hours if no one changes channels, volume etc on the TV. However, the random times that the TV switches off is baffling.

I've also had the disappearing front panel dispaly on the Humax, and switched off the power saving on standy So far so good, until the random factory reset.

I just worked out that the program I had set to record is now NOT recording....thanks Humax. That must've been the point when the factory reset triggered...when the recording was scheduled to start.

Did you manage to get this fixed?  If so, how?

My Toppy is now doing the same thing.  It doesn't freeze but is stuck on the same channel after 'Checking HDD' and the buttons on the unit and the remote don't work after that.  The light flashes when I press a button on the remote so I know the remote is working, but I can't change channel.

It's annoying.  I even bought a new HDD, replaced the old one but no luck.  The same problem exists even with a new HDD.

Topfield / Re: Topfield Freezes

I don't know if it's coincidence or not but my programs have been resent.  Last night and this morning, nothing came through to my Toppy after resending from my account.  However, my new programs are now there after remapping my IceTV channels...and it has been stable for 3 hours now.

I can confirm the factory reset didn't work last night.  It fixed the problem briefly but this morning it was freezing up again.  I was about to try Topblah's suggestion but the channels in my account didn't even have 78, although I know it exists after re-tuning my TV last night.

I wasn't sure how long the Toppy would take before it froze tonight but surprisingly it hasn't.  I managed to remap my channels via Services > Show IceTV Channels (?) > Map IceTV Channels on the Toppy itself, deleting a few that didn't match but I doubt it had anything to do with its stable performance now.

Topblah, thanks for sharing your solution and contacting IceTV.  It does seem like there's something else that IceTV have done and aren'T sharing with us.

Fingers crossed, all is OK now....and we can resume normal viewing (pun intended).
