There seems to be a problem with series finales.  For example next weeks castle, I have a series recording setup which is recording tonights episode quite happily and not matching the next weeks final episode.  Only thing that I can think of is the title change, normal episode called "Castle" and next week it is "Castle - Season Finale".

Sounds like it's EIT data mixed in. That's something the broadcasters do, IceTV wouldn't change the title of the show for a finale because it would screw up season recordings.

Yes, that's right, it sounds like the over-the-air EIT guide data mixed in.  I just checked, and we only have one series called Castle, and the finale has the same name, with the episode "A Death in the Family".

You might want to disable the EIT data on your IceTV channels.  I just now added this tip to the first Windows 7 EPG Beta Readme post at the top of this board:

Tip: Disable EIT guide data
Once you get the IceTV guide data working, you won't need (or want) the limited guide data that's sent over the air with digital channels.  Here's how to disable it:

  • Go to Tasks / Settings / TV / Guide / Edit Channels.
  • Click one of the channel names that you've enabled with a check mark (for example: ABC1-IceTV).
  • Click "Edit Listings", and then click "Disable Inband".  Then click Save, and then Save again, to take you back to the Edit Channels page.
  • Repeat for each enabled IceTV channel, then click Save on the Edit Channels page when done.

I'm getting what looks like mixed guide data in my listings too, but only for Win TV Canberra and Win TV HD.  I've disabled the inband listings for all my channels and re-run the script to download the IceTV guide data but am still getting some entries that look like they come from the EIT.  For example, tonight at 7:30 in Canberra on Win TV the Harry Potter movie is displayed as "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban -Rpt" whereas on the Ice TV site it says "MOVIE: Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)".

Hi Daniel,

I just did some more testing and found that it depends on what I search for.  If I search for 'news' or 'getaway' I can select the items found.  If I search for 'olympics' or 'simpsons' I get a white page if I try selecting any of the items returned.  Maybe it's related to the number of items returned in the search?

I'm at work now but I'll upload a screenshot of what I'm seeing when I get home tonight.

I was just searching through the iPhone App Store today and happened to find that the IceTV application has been released.  It looks very neat :)

I did find a bug though.. On the TV Guide pane I can select a show, it then brings up details on the show and will let me schedule a recording.  If I do a search of the TV Guide it brings up a list of shows matching my search but if I select a show from the list it brings up a white page with the names of my recording devices in plain text.  No details of the show and no buttons to schedule recording or add to favourites.

I was attempting to schedule multiple Olympics events to record via the IceTV Interactive website and I encountered a problem where when I set one event to record a previous scheduled recording I created a minute before would disappear from my list of scheduled recordings.

For example, I want to record all the volleyball and beach volleyball events showing on SBS.  First I went to Saturday Afternoon in the web guide and set Olympics: Beijing 2008 'Day 1: Beach Volleyball Highlights' at 12:30pm to record.  It shows up fine under My Upcoming Shows.  Next I went to Sunday Evening and set the 'Day 2: Womens Beach Volleyball' to record.  It displays under My Upcoming Shows but now the Day 1 beach volleyball highlights is no longer listed and isn't scheduled to record.

I don't want to sound pushy at all but... when is the iPhone IceTV app coming out?  I'm really looking forward to this app :)

Windows Media Center / Error getting guide data
May 22, 2008, 08:18:42 PM
For the past few days I've been unable to get any guide data.  Automatic guide updates are failing and if I select Get Latest Guide Listings in Media Center it comes back with "Guide Download Error: The Guide could not be downloaded for the following reason: Internet connection failure (Code: 13)"

I've tested my settings in the IceTV Interactive application and it says that it can talk to the IceTV server fine. I've tried version 2.0.0.17 and 2.0.0.18 Beta 1.

Supernatural and Good News Week are missing from the guide again for Southern Cross 10HD at 8:30pm and 9:30pm on Monday 3/3.  This is the third week running with missing data for SC10HD on Monday nights.

Supernatural is missing from the guide again for Southern Cross 10HD at 9:30pm on Monday 25/2.  Good News Week is also missing from the HD channel listing (GNW aired on SC10HD on Monday 18/2).

Supernatural is one of the few shows that airs on Southern Cross 10 HD in the ACT.  It was in the IceGuide last week (11/2) but is missing from the guide for SC10HD for Monday 18/2 at 9:30pm.

I noticed in the IceTV guide for Monday 11/2 at 7:30pm Border Security -Australia's Frontline is listed for Prime and Prime HD.  However, on Prime the running time for the episode is 30 minutes and on Prime HD the running time is 180 minutes.  The program description for both channels lists the same episode.

Is this an error?  I would have thought that The Force and Desperate Housewives would be following on Prime HD as it is on the regular Prime channel?

Hi Daniel,

PrimeHD is fine, Prime are re-transmitting all of the multichannel shows from 7HD.  With regards to SC10 HD, the guide data that IceTV used to have in 2007 was fine for Canberra.  SC10 HD does still broadcast some shows in Canberra, like on Wednesday night between 8:30pm and 10:30pm (I can't remember what was on but I did verify that it was showing on SC10 HD).

Shows that were listed in the guide for SC10 HD that didn't show (just got the HD loop instead) for Thursday 17/1:

5:00pm-5:30pm The Bold and the Beautiful
5:30pm-6:30pm Ten News
6:30pm-7:00pm Neighbours
7:00pm-7:30pm Friends
7:30pm-8:30pm Smallville
8:30pm-9:30pm Smallville
10:30pm-11:30pm The 4400
11:30pm-1:05am Movie: Urban Legends - The Final Cut

Is anyone from IceTV going to reply?  So far in the last 2 nights only 2 shows that were listed in the SC10 HD guide actually aired.

Southern Cross 10 hasn't started offering new content on the HD channel in Canberra, so the SC10 HD guide data from Icetv is a bit out of whack.  Only a few, mostly prime time evening shows, are being broadcast on the HD channel, the rest of the time it's just the HD stock footage loop.

Shows that were listed in the IceTV guide for SC10 HD that didn't show at all on Wed 16/1 were:
5:30pm-6:30pm Ten News
6:30pm-7:00pm Neighbours
7:00pm-7:30pm Friends
7:30pm-8:30pm Don't Forget the Lyrics
10:30pm-11:30pm Over There
11:30pm-1:05am Movie: One Night At McCool's

I'll keep adding to this thread as I find more problems in the SC10 HD guide data.

Windows Media Center / Re: Discovery Services Key

I'm still getting the "Invalid Country or Region" error when the EPG goes to update and I have to use Pimp to fix the registry key :(  Do we need a new version of the IceTV grabber for Vista to go along with the hotfix?

*Edit* I failed to create the disableUpdateDiscSvc registry key, which I've done now.  I'll see how it goes.  See the thread on xpmediacentre.com.au for what you need to set after installing the update: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/vista-epg-discussion-support/19002-disableupdatediscsvc-key.html
