Topfield / Re: IceBox Enhancement Wishlist
August 09, 2005, 02:08:53 PM
QuoteI have to say that whilst I am pleased with the functionality that the Icebox EPG provides within the topfield, I was a little dissapointed at the level of smarts it contains for recordng shows in a semi-automatic fashion such as by gendre, or by program name.

I was thinking about it and thought that since the topfield is connected to the PC at all times, and the PC has the Icebox application for downloading the EPG data, it would be really nice (as Mantorok has already suggested) to enhance the PC app to allow browsing of the EPG on screen, with search by gendre/program name, and then allow you to manually or automatically upload recording schedules to the topfield from the PC for programs of that name/type.  Possible enhancements to this are prioritisation of recordings according to remaining disk space; automatic deletion of older recordings on the topfield (i.e. a smart space management tool for the topfield HD); and on screen notifications of upcoming programs of interest.
Mike you can do this with TEDS (http://users.tpg.com.au/adslhaj7/ted/)

Hi Flagpole,

if you haven't already, I suggest you jump on the Toppy OZ forum here:

You'll find a great community with answers to all your questions plus the ones you haven't thought of.

QuoteNot sure about TFDN USB, but there is a Topfield program that allows copying to/from the Toppy from a Mac OSX machine over USB here: http://www.noates.com/

Regards,
Shane.
I posted that on the 4th May Shane.

General Discussions / Forum Email

I have setup notifications to send me email for all new posts across the following four categories: Annoucements, General Discussions, Ice XML Guide (General), and ICEguide for Topfield, however this morning I didn't receive an email from the forum notifying me of this new thread (ICEguide for Topfield category):
http://www.icetv.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=58.0
Should I have received one or is my notifications incorrectly setup?

QuoteWe are in final stages of development of a wireless bridge which lets the Toppy retrieve IceGuide directly from our server, so if you have a home WLAN the PC/Mac issue becomes irrelevant.

Anyone interested in beta testing the WLAN bridge should email support@icetv.com.au. Cost of the device will be less than $200 and software for the device and Toppy will be provided free.

Peter, the forum just sent me three emails for your one reply in this thread.

Have a look here for MacTF.  A Mac like version of Altair:

QuoteYeah, will be a good idea to add all those fields, as I still find myself pulling up yourtv to see if something is a repeat, and to see the actors in a prog, so it would be great to see those fields in the feed.

I find yourtv offers the best information at the moment, but I can understand ICE's need for manpower to be able to produce the same quantity and quality of information.
