IceTV EPG Content / Re: Missing EPG data for Canberra
September 16, 2024, 11:00:55 AM
I found that a lot of the timers didn't get sent to the IceBox, after the IceTV servers were updated.  A reboot was required to get them to download.

Maybe this is part of your problem?

Quote from: MD on September 13, 2024, 02:28:19 PMHi everyone,

Yes we are obviously aware of this situation and are working our best to get on top of it.  Remember any recordings already for missing days will occur once the this missing guide is back up.
Happy to hear that you are aware of the problem, and working on a solution.  Sounds like a living nightmare for you.  Please pass on my best wishes to your team.

IceTV EPG Content / Missing EPG data for Canberra
September 13, 2024, 11:43:16 AM
The EPG for Canberra is currently missing data for all Prime, 10 and 9 channels, for next Wednesday (18th) and Thursday (19th).

I get that Thursday's data shouldn't be showing up on the IceBox yet, but it should be showing up on the IceTV www and phone apps.

The Goldbergs and Made In Bondi had already been added.
It would assist us if you would please check the New Shows list before sending us an email to add them. I did these myself when they came in.

Regards,  Lisa

I did check & have just checked again now. As you can see from this image they arent there.
neither were there hence why i messaged. All the same Bazza got a reply & i didnt hence another reason why i didnt know.
I can see Made in Bondi listed in "New Series", but not The Goldbergs.

Quote from: Tiphanee on June 06, 2024, 06:37:30 PMHello again,

Many thanks for your message re The Chase Australia. At the moment, we will add the repeat flag for tomorrow around the time the guide is updated. We're also looking at how we can keep an eye on this as the guide doesn't supply episode number data. It may need to be something that is corrected manually on the day and I will inform the team to double check the Sydney EPG so that it matches the ACT one.

Cheers,

Tiphanee
Thanks Tiphanee

EPG data for Prime7 is currently missing for Tuesday 11th June and Wednesday 12th June.

It normally appears around 2-3pm most days, but it's now 5:45pm and the EPG data which should have gone in yesterday still hasn't appeared.

Any chance you could address this fairly soonish?

For the last few weeks there have been regular discrepancies between the episodes listed for Canberra, and those listed for Sydney.  This has resulted in several new episodes being incorrectly marked as repeats, and vice versa.  These problems usually occur on Mondays & Fridays.

For example, on Monday (10th June), the following episodes are listed in the IceTV EPG:
Canberra: S12 E100 (rpt)
Sydney: S13 E46 (new)

Note that S12 E100 is scheduled in Sydney tomorrow (7th June).

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the same episode will be broadcast in Canberra & Sydney next Monday, and it will be S13 E46.

The Canberra IceTV EPG data matches what's appearing on other online TV Guides, so the problem is clearly incorrect data being provided by Prime7.  In this respect, IceTV's EPG data clearly matches the sources they have available to them.  Unfortunately, those sources are all incorrect, and IceTV's EPG data is also incorrect as a result.

Would it be possible to override the EPG data from Prime7, which is known to be incorrect - and forcing the Canberra EPG to match the Sydney EPG?

Can you also check to see whether other Prime7 markets are affected? I suspect it's not just Canberra which is suffering from dodgy EPG data.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Icons Unearthed

While VICE TV might list them as separate shows, the TVDB website lists them as multiple seasons of a single show (Icons Unearthed).  Given that most metadata scrapers work off the TVDB website, there is a reasonable basis for listing them as S07E01 and S07E02.

There is no current Recycle Bin capability.

I don't know if any is planned.

General / Re: Ad skipping being blocked
May 15, 2024, 11:36:09 AM
They can't "block" it, given the way it works on the IceBox.  Having said that, there are definitely some shows which the Ad Detection software often has problems with (e.g. The Chase Australia).

Have you checked that it's not a problem with the Ad Detection process on your IceBox?  You may want to check this thread for suggestions on ways to identify/fix the problem:

Taskmaster Australia is returning to 10 later this month.

Thursday, 23rd May at 7.30pm on 10.

... and somewhat bizarrely, they're showing Season 3, ahead of Season 2.  Apparently this decision is due to the availability of the stars, for promotional purposes.

Quote from: vader1111 on March 28, 2024, 07:15:27 PMThe up/down arrows jump to the next chapter, if one exists.  If the recording has no chapters, then they jump forwards/backwards by 10 minutes.  So the functionality for that part of your request already exists in Kodi.

Unfortunately the Up and Down arrows do not achieve this.

As soon as the program actually starts there is data embedded in the stream that contains information that says the program has actually started. At the end of the program, again the data stream contains information that says the program has actually ended.

It is much the same for ad breaks. The producer identifies key points where it is a point where the program can be paused for a break. This can be for a station ID or internal promotion. It is why you never see an ad break right in the middle of a sentence - at least the modern ones that have been digitised.

Schedulers simply create a playlist that comprise ad segment headers and program headers.

I have no doubt things will eventually end up this way. If you have access to a Beyonwiz T series or later, you can see this. When the program actually starts, the BW places a bookmark in the recording, and when the program actually ends, the BW places a bookmark in the recording. Now when you play the recording, simply press the Next button and second or so later, you are at the actual start of what you want to watch.

Interestingly 10 News First does NOT broadcast this code because it and every other news broadcast starts precisely at the time advertised. So, see, the schedulers can keep to their advertised schedules, but by not keeping to their advertised schedules, they hope to lock in viewers.
We're talking about different things here.

The Up/Down arrows do move to the next/previous Chapter mark, but only if such a mark exists.  There are currently no chapter marks inserted into IceBox recordings.
