General Discussions / Re: Support Form

Yep, it's all working now.  I had actually disabled those channels myself because I was trying to map them to something close before I gave up and disabled icetv for the short term.

Because you'll have to trust me when I say that on Tuesday when I submitted the help request, they really, truly were not there.  For example, there was no WinHD on that page, and the GEM had no LCNs that came close to what it should have been.

I'm confused as to how the channels could have been there for some time as they only just launched here in the last week according to our local paper?  Which is what prompted me to retune.  I assumed that's what the problem was, they were too new.

But it's all fixed now.  So thanks for jumping into my account and fixing them all up.  I've reenabled ICETV on the PVR at it's all going again.

Does the support form from the homepage still work?

I submitted a support request a few days ago and haven't heard back?

Great news.

Given there is basic Skippa support planned, is there any hope that those of us who have not received ours may still get them at some point. Or is that still a lost cause?

SKIPPA / Re: IceTv in Voluntary Administarion

I too have lodged a dispute claim with PayPal. Note that you require to contact your supplier and if that does not solve the issue, you have about 20 days from the date you made your claim to elevate the dispute to a PayPal Claim.

What is the correct way of contacting the supplier in cases like this?  Do I fill in the webform to sales first, quote my order number and say I want to cancel it and then wait a few days?  Or can I just use the email I got about going into Voluntary Administration as hearing from them first and move straight to elevating to PayPal?

edit: And Warkus has already answered the question while I was typing it up.

Fixed your missing emails. You were not subscribed to service info type emails.

Thank you.

I'm not getting any of these delayed shipment emails and my email settings are all ticked under my IceTV account.

Mine seem to be hit and miss as well.  I missed one of the big ones everyone was talking about.  Got the next one.  Haven't gotten this last one.  I did notice that my settings had become unticked, but they have been right now for some time.

Hey Leon or Dave,
On page 39 of the manual it states "SKIPPA requires an Internet connection at all times".

My internet has been having issues the last month.  Out for days at a time.  ISP can't figure out why.  So if I had a Skippa in that time, would anything work during the internet blackouts.  eg, would any timers already sent to the device still trigger?  Would I be able to watch live TV?  Manually record something?  Or would it be a brick?

I was assuming it would be like my existing Topfield with IceTV now.  Everything would still work except the EPG wouldn't update, the last five days of timers would still be there but no new timers would be received, and obviously I could still watch live TV or recordings.

But that line in the manual makes me worry the Skippa would shutdown if it can't check in?

As to not receiving an email, it looks as if somehow my subscription to the weekly email letter was discontinued when I updated my details yesterday or the day before.

Weird. Mine had become unticked as well.

To everyone that is not too sure about this app thingy, all I can say is don't knock it till you try it...

When I'm at home my phone lives on my desk in another room away from the 4 year old. My wife's phone lives in the bottom of her bag and is normally dead.  I'm not even sure the app is available for her phone.  And I'm not about to set my account up on the grandparents phone for when they visit.  Those guys love their EPGs.

Maybe it's because boxer shorts don't have pockets, but I just don't tend to have my phone on me when I'm laying on the couch :). Or it could be I'm just getting old and grumpy.

Relaxing on your couch, watching a show and having your IceTV App open in the palm of your hand you can easily see what's next / later on tonight. Why bother using the clunky PVR EPG?

My phone is normally sitting on charge in another room when I'm home. I was hoping to being able to do more on the PVR. At the moment my workflow is to say to the wife, "Hey, remind me to set that to record".  Or I pause, walk up the hall and do it on the computer.

To be honest I don't really care what's on next because I haven't watched live TV for several years now.

But, my in laws use the guide when they visit.  And I'm not leaving them my phone when I'm out of the house :)

SKIPPA / Re: autoskip pricing
June 20, 2015, 04:16:39 PM
I'm going to admit I'm still confused by the subscription prices.  Everything I've seen looks pretty clear, but at the same time can kind of been seen to be saying something else depending on the scenario, (first 1000, next 500, regular), and where I read the news, (email, forum, website).

As a long time IceTV subscriber I'm used to the idea of paying for regular subscriptions.  I'm just totally confused by where this device fits into your ecosystem after all the 'no annual fees', lifetime vs 5 year, first 1000, next 500, and now autoskip suddenly being a paid service?

If I've bought one of the first 1000 Skippas.  And I look after it so it's still running in 6 years time.  And it's the only device I own connected to IceTV.
At what point do I need to to get a new icetv subscription?
At what point do I need to get an autoskip subscription?

edit: Heh.  While I was typing, qf8 asked the same question in a much shorter format :)

Here are the wife's questions based on how she uses our existing PVR, (topfied 2400 with TMSArchive TAP).

Are there two separate buttons for skip forward/backward?  Can they be set to independent values?  Eg, 30 forward, 10 back?

Can you create folders and move recordings into them post recording?  eg, one for her, one for the kids, one for the series you want to wait to fully complete before binge watching?

Can you switch the list of recorded shows between date & name sorting with a button press.

Can you select multiple recordings and move them to folders or delete them in batches.

Can the Skippa be put to sleep, but still wake at least once a day to receive icetv updates.  Useful for when you go away.  If not, can a timer be set to wake for 5 minutes and then return to sleep, like the topfield.

Will you get an in-your-face notification if a recording is due to fail due to conflicts or if the Skippa has failed to connect to the internet for a period of time.  At the moment we get an email if the Topfield has not connected to icetv for 7 days.  Which is frustrating because you only send the last next 5 days of recordings, by the time you tell us there is an issue we've already lost two days of recordings.  You might want to fix that.

Does the remote have a 'universal' function for volume that tries to adjust the TVs volume instead of the Skippas volume.  Kind of like our 360 remote, you enter in codes till you find the one that works with your TV.  Our topfield remote was supposed to have something like that but it never worked properly.

Can the Skippa push out 5V for the rooftop aerial booster like the Topfield or will I need to dig out the wall wart again?

Ta.

edit: Duh

Topfield / Re: Remove IceTV?
November 22, 2013, 06:40:56 PM
I emailed support to make sure I was still on the promotional email list as it had been some time since I'd seen a sale.

Got a reply back saying there won't be any sales in the foreseeable future as it devalues the product.

Bummer.

Not yet.  I'm at work.  I wouldn't be surprised if it has gone through.  I just wondering if there was any way to resend just one.

In the past I've buckled and told IceTV to resend everything when things looked a bit strange and I couldn't get to the box to check.

But that results in heaps of exclamation marks until I've got time to clear all timers and resend properly.  It's my nuclear option for when I really don't want to miss a show but I'm not able to physically check the box :)

I have a show on tonight that hasn't changed from a donut to a solid circle.  Everything else for today has.

If it was a timer clash with a yellow exclamation mark I could click on it and select 'reschedule recording' to have it resend the timer.

But I don't seem to have that option for a red donut?  Is deleting the recording, waiting 30 minutes for it go through, then rescheduling the recording the only way to resend for a single recording?
