Awesome news that there's an end in sight. Bring on those new SSDs.
My screw driver is ready to go!

Is there an update on this issue?
Is the only fix still to reinstall from a USB?
My icebox is bricked again. Yet another week of all recordings lost and some older ones. I've tried the save & reset multiple times and leaving it powered down. They didn't work the previous two times either.
I love icetv programming my recordings but the box being unreliable is killing me.

Quote from: nedsnow on July 14, 2023, 05:26:28 PMIf you think this is the same issue, I'll just wait for a solution. In the meantime, I might disable the timeshift, as that's about the only thing I fiddled with.

I've had both issues and the symptoms are very different. The problem you describe I've had occur a number of times since I turned on timeshift. I also found that you need to reboot to resolve it and it boots fine.

The other issue is so much worse. Mine usually doesn't boot at all. I've had to reload it from scratch.

Unfortunately the waiting 12+ hours didnt work for me. I left it unplugged for 14 hours and no change to the symptom. Tried again doing numerous "Save Changes and Reset" with no luck. Need to rebuild it (again!). I really hope a fix is available very soon. It kind of defeats the whole point of having IceTV.

My icebox has the issue (again). Unfortunately the "Save Changes and Reset" multiple times didnt help. Nor did waiting an hour and trying the "Save Changes and Reset" multiple times again. Hopefully the unplug for 10+ hours will resolve it.
Not sure if it it was a coincidence but mine was running fine for a number of weeks including late last night. Had a short power outage (10 min) this morning and found it in the stuck boot state.
I'm hoping I dont need to re-install and lose another week of recordings (again).

General / HDMI CEC Control
January 29, 2023, 01:29:58 PM
Does CEC control work from the IceBox to TV via HDMI-CEC? I dont think so based on the guide suggesting I need dongles but thought I would ask.
The Kodi Wiki suggests that CEC control is built into Kodi but that the hardware and OS would need to support it.
All I would like is the IceBox remote to turn up/down the volume on the TV rather than the volume level of the IceBox output.

Getting Help / Re: SETTING UP MY NEW ICETV UNIT
January 28, 2023, 04:50:43 PM
Quote from: MD on January 28, 2023, 12:05:25 PMThe Setup & User Guide explains on the third paragraph, as a "IMPORTANT NOTE" that we had to suspend the the power off button so the box turns back on again after a power cut.

Absolutely understand that it should turn on after a power cut. Perhaps I was asking the wrong question. If I am not watching anything on the IceBox (but still want it to initiate timer recordings, update timers from IceTV, etc), is there a lower power setting than just normal "On". The equivalent of "Standby" mode on PVRs.
I thought "Suspend" may have done that from the description you gave. I looked at the Kodi Wiki and it suggested that suspend would turn off the display to the TV. However, when I select Suspend, the display flashes off and then on again and then the IceBox is non-responsive. You are right that if I hold the front power button long enough, then it looks like it restarts showing the IceTV logo and then Kodi.
Not sure if I have an incorrect setting somewhere I could check.

Thanks raj1954. So obvious when you point it out.

Looking forward to timeshift/chaseplay being available in the future.

General / Timeshift and Auto Bookmarking
January 28, 2023, 12:13:38 AM
I'm coming from a Beyonwiz and not sure if the IceBox has an equivalent for a couple of features I typically use.

Timeshift Live TV: When watching live TV, being able to pause and rewind it without specifically recording the program.

Automatic Bookmark: When watching a recording, keep track of what I have already watched. When I return to that same recording, auto start it where I left off. This is done without manually bookmarking the recording.
Thanks.

Getting Help / Re: SETTING UP MY NEW ICETV UNIT
January 27, 2023, 11:59:19 PM
I'm setting up my new IceBox but the power off options don't work as I expected. When I select Suspend, I get a small turning wheel symbol on TV screen which remains there indefinitely. The power button on the remote doesn't do anything and nor does the front button. Only power cycling seems to eventually restore the unit. How would I get the suspend described in the set up guide?

Selecting the Power Off option does seem work properly as it does a full shut down. The remote no longer can turn it on but the front button does. I expect that is correct, right?

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Grey's Anatomy - new series
February 12, 2009, 08:54:44 AM
Grey's Anatomy is on at 9pm tonight and Private Practice at 10pm. Seven have been advertising this over the last day. I expect the change is due to the bush fire changes.

Thanks Daniel. I am hoping BW speed up making it compatible with IceTV Remote!

Well done for making the Ice Guide so easy to set up on the Beyonwiz. :)
As a suggestion, it would be great if the Ice Guide on the Beyonwiz could include an indication if a show is a repeat episode. I am not sure if the Ice Guide on other PVRs shows this in the episode's description. When I look at an episode's description on the Ice website it does. Is it possible to include this as a future enhancement?

Thanks
Pete
