IceTV EPG Content / Vera

Gone. I don't think it's a spoiler to disclose that, there are multiple articles now about the demise of the series. The final episode also had a brief cameo appearance from Kevin Whately who played Lewis until 2015.

BYOB / Re: BYOB Wired And WiFi dropouts et al.

Quote from: srto2 on December 24, 2024, 04:46:32 PMbut I followed your suggestions - with no improvement... Unplugging/replugging the network cable results in no connectivity.
The suggestion was to unplug the power jack, not the network cable.

1. Power down the Lenovo.
2. Remove the power jack, or turn off at the mains.
3. After 10-20 seconds restore the power to Lenovo.
4. Power up the Lenovo.
5. Test Lenovo network connectivity.
6. Reboot the router and test Lenovo retains network connectivity.

Quote from: srto2 on December 24, 2024, 04:46:32 PMI looked up what Intel had to say, entered the MEBX setup, followed their instructions and dutifully reset the AMT configuration.  Well, I think I did.  Whatever, no change.  I have no idea what it all means anyway.
There is no need to activate/reset AMT, if it is available in the Lenovo. I was using MEBx (management engine bios extension) as an example of loss of connectivity at the bios level. The ethernet port has to stay alive when the device is powered down for AMT or WOL or other network connectivity to work and one way to reset or reboot the ethernet connectivity at the bios level is to temporarily remove the power source.

BYOB / Re: BYOB Wired And WiFi dropouts et al.

Quote from: srto2 on December 24, 2024, 10:13:22 AMIt presumably is a handshaking issue on the part of the router or my BYOB hardware; Lenovo M920Q.
If we're still talking about wired, I'd be more inclined to be looking at the Lenovo than the router. I have a number of NUCs, various Intel CPU generations, with some of them apparently losing MEBX connectivity at times, typically after bios updates. The 8th gen NUC I use for IceBox BYO is one such device.

MEBX subsystem connectivity can only be restored by removing the power jack and re-connecting after a short while. Rebooting the NUC or power cycling will not do it.

I suggest you try that on the Lenovo. It may trick it into a more consistent successful handshake with the router.

BYOB / Re: BYOB Wired And WiFi dropouts et al.
December 23, 2024, 06:27:01 PM
Quote from: srto2 on December 23, 2024, 05:38:26 PMBut since the update to 12.1.1 my two BYOB boxes both suffer from (wifi or wired) loss of connection at least once a week.
Loss of connection with wifi I can understand, according to what I have read of LibreELEC, but not with wired. Also once a week is not that frequent, and could be down to any number of reasons.

I reboot a BYO IceBox once a day, mainly to ensure that the EPG is refreshed from scratch. I also reboot both Beyonwiz PVRs daily to keep them running trouble free. I suggest a daily reboot of both your BYO IceBoxes would probably be worthwhile.

General Discussions / Re: 7SD and 9SD Canberra no longer?
December 11, 2024, 10:19:34 AM
Quote from: blip on December 11, 2024, 07:00:36 AMA rescan should result in the former SD LCNs changing their names to 7HD and 9HD.
A location scan of the U4 (FTA EPG) has resulted in the two channels (LCN 6 and 8) still occupying their place in the Favourites lineup, but still displaying their SD channel picons and <n/a> in place of a channel title. They appear to be still playing live TV when invoked, presumably an HD stream.

EPG.gif

I Haven't tried a rescan on the T2 (IceTV EPG) as it might be a bit more tricky with EPG selection. I guess at some stage it would be worthwhile, but currently everything still looks to be working, at least with live TV streaming and capacity to set timers.

A resccan of the IceBox looks to be more problematic. I have done it manually in the past by clearing muxes and services then forcing a rescan, but my recollection is that it then needed quite a bit of work with the EPG. So a reset looks to be on the cards, unless someone has worked out another way of refreshing the TV services lineup in situ.

General Discussions / 7SD and 9SD Canberra no longer?
December 10, 2024, 11:22:28 PM
Just this week I observed that the Black Mountain transmitter in Canberra was doubling up on transmitting channels 7HD and 9HD, and that it was no longer transmitting 7SD and 9SD.

That in itself did not concern me too much, but all my PVRs are still showing 7SD and 9SD as channels and EPGs associated with those channels. The T2 and Icebox BYO are IceTV enabled, the U4 is on FTA EPG and autotimers. On a cursory look at one or two scenarios those channels are playing live TV without issue. My guess, just using the HD streams in place of what were previously SD streams.

My question is should I be doing a rescan of all these devices? Straightforward enough for the Beyonwiz PVRs, maybe with some modification to Favourites, but possibly less so with Icebox where a reset might be more efficient than trying to do things manually in the TVHeadend GUI.

Is anyone else seeing similar changes to SD and HD channels in other locations?

Getting Help / Re: Problems with 9Go and 9Go HD
November 28, 2024, 04:44:13 PM
Quote from: Ian_AW on November 28, 2024, 03:26:07 PMAfter the fun, there is just one setting that has been lost.

I have (had) Subtitles set to ON by default. After the soft reset, this has been lost and I cannot find where to set this back ON as default.

Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks.

There are a couple of things:

1. For Live TV, in Settings|Player|Preferred subtitle language, set to English.
2. For recordings, ensure that in TVHeadend Configuration|Recording|Digital Video Recorder Profiles that Stream profile is set to matroska. I think that is the default setting now anyway.

Then in any video window hit enter and right arow across to the fourth last icon and enable subtitles and set as default for all media.

Quote from: Ian_AW on November 26, 2024, 03:17:40 PMTVHeadend shows the EPG Source as blank.
1. Double left mouse click on the empty entry on the EPG source for 9Go!, click down arrow and select the box next to the source 9Go! then left click on another row and you should see the 9Go! as EPG entry in the EPG source row you originally selected. Then hit the Save button, first item in row directly above the table.

2. Reboot IceBox to download a fresh set of guide data.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Recording free to air TV
November 19, 2024, 01:41:04 PM
Quote from: IanL-S on November 19, 2024, 10:29:30 AMMost PRV vendors have gone out of business (Beyonwiz, Topfield, Humax, ...)
But Panasonic marches on. I'm just playing devils advocate here.

You basically have two choices: a PVR, or a PC-based solution. The former is relatively straightforward, requires little effort or technical knowhow to set up and maintain, and will cost about $300-500. The latter less so, needs investment in at least a USB TV tuner or internal PC TV capture card, and some learning curve with PC software. Less expensive, say $100-300, but more of a fiddle. There is free software for Windows like TV Scheduler Pro which will only record TV, MediaPortal which is pretty cumbersome but still free, or NextPVR which requires a modest donation to unlock all its features. If you have a spare PC, or routinely run linux, you could either install IceBox BYO, or LibreELEC and run TVHeadend natively. It integrates reasonably well with Windows, and all these PC-based solutions other than TV Scheduler Pro can be used as back ends for Live TV in Kodi.

The IceBox is effectively a PVR built around a LibreELEC PC-based solution.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Bledisloe Cup
September 25, 2024, 02:14:51 PM
Quote from: Tiphanee on September 25, 2024, 12:05:38 PMHi Raymond,

Many thanks for your message. I have corrected the error for this Saturday's screening so there should be no issue with your recording. I've also taken a look at last week's screening and from this end there was no guide reason it shouldn't have recorded.
It seems in ACT and some regions they split the episodes into two separate slots which then generates a repeat of the second slot. We get around this by creating a 'continued' episode. This was in place for last weekend's game and I have just amended for this weekend.

Cheers,

Tiphanee
Thanks Tiphanee, They actually split the coverage into three slots, with pre and post game bookending the main game. Whatever you have done your end, My Week for the main game is still showing "This show is waiting to be set by device IceBoxS. This show is part of a series recording." even though the timer is still showing as having been passed to IceBox.

There seems to be a blind spot when if comes to the Bledisloe Cup. Time and time again the main game is lost to IceTV scheduling if set to first runs only. It happened again last Saturday. Even though I thought I had gone in to IceBox and manually set the main game to record from the EPG, I lost it. And now, I see the main game again scheduled as a repeat for game 2 Saturday September 28.

I threw in the towel and set the timers for first runs and repeats. Even then My Week told me that the episode would not record because it was already part of a series recording. So I have clicked on "record this episode" and a timer has now been set and passed to IceBox, but there is still a red doughnut in the EPG. Will it record this time?

Beyonwiz / Re: Beyonwiz firmware updates
September 24, 2024, 12:56:59 PM
Quote from: Rob VDN on September 24, 2024, 10:42:40 AMI have a T2. How can I find what firmware is currently installed and what is the latest version?
In the settings, last item. Or even easier through Box Info in OpenWebif - log in using the PVR IP address in a Web browser. Latest firmware is 19.3.20211010, as listed on Whirlpool page https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/9246yqj8

Quote from: Rob VDN on September 24, 2024, 10:42:40 AMIs it safe to assume that Beyonwiz no longer operates and provides new updates? Should I start looking for a new PVR? If so what can you recommend?
Pretty much although there may still be life in the old T2 yet. If repairs are needed there is an operation, Nasa electronics, that has been given reasonable reviews by BW users.

I hesitate to offer any recommendations on a replacement. Depends what exactly you look for in a PVR.

Take a look at the Kodi Addon Keymap Editor. That may give you what you need, and more!

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Beyonwiz double donuts
September 18, 2024, 04:31:33 PM
Quote from: IanL-S on September 18, 2024, 02:34:35 PMWell, it is actually triple donut as shown in the first screenshot.
The Double (tiipple) donuts.jpg looks to me what you would expect to see from a series recording for NCIS (two different episodes). Perhaps you posted the wrong image?

The doubled-up recordings I don't think I've seen anything like that before from IceTV, but I have seen something like it with a U4 running with FTA EPG and autotimers. I always thought it might because of slightly different times with different channel numbers for a particular station, but never really tracked it down or pursued it.

I suspect that in your case it may be something to do with the EPG issues reported earlier this week.

I don't know what you mean by "double donuts" but I see the same red indicators in My Week for a T2 and IceBox BYO. I haven't done any tweaking to either with the recent EPG issues.
