Title: No Next Day or Series recording option
Post by: sanmarco on November 21, 2018, 12:00:41 AM
I have just purchased a T4 and firstly had a overscan problem with EPG but after changing skin it is now OK but the "Next Day" and "series" recording options are not displayed. Also Add skipping does not appear to be active. These were very handy with my previous Skippa recorder. Also it requests that I download an update but will not complete and advises a USB update. Perhaps I have not set this up correctly so look for guidance on these issues please.

You may be better off asking your questions on the Beyonwiz Forum.

Do not normally set recordings on my T2 or U4; however you can set series recordings by going to EPG selecting program and pressing record button; you then have option of one off or series recording. As far as I can work out these are not managed by IceTV but locally.

At first I misread you post and thought it was a U4, but it is T4 with which I have no experience. I assume you got it second hand as they are no longer sold new by Beyonwiz. This may explain why it needs a major firmware update. They work better when using USB stick to do the installation.

The T4 and U4 behave the same way with IceTV and in the EPG.

The usual ways to fix problems with clipping the UI screens because of overscan on the TV are to either disable overscan on the TV if possible, and if not, use MENU>Setup>AV Settings>OSD position. Changing skins won't fix all the problems with clipping cause by overscan.

The Beyonwiz can't set recordings on the IceTV server in the way that the Skippa can. You need to use the IceTV Web pages for your account to do that. In theory, you're supposed to be able to set IceTV recordings from the IceTV Android and iOS apps. I'm not sure about the iOS app, but the recording setting in the Android app is so broken (http://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/smart-recording-on-android/36/recording-one-off-shows-and-other-problems-with-recommendations/5501/) I can't recommend it for that, though it is handy for checking up on your recordings.

Automatic ad skipping on the Beyonwiz is not "inactive". It is absent. The nearest thing it has is old-style skips for fixed (user-configurable) times. Skip button and time settings are in MENU>Setup>System>Button settings.

In theory, you can continue to update even in the presence of the "large update" warning, but your firmware seems to be quite old, and that may not succeed.

If your firmware version (MENU>Information>About>Revision) is 20180417 or earlier (the revision is an ISO format date), you should upgrade the firmware to 20180417. The upgrade file and instructions (https://www.beyonwiz.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=12456) are available on the Beyonwiz forum (https://www.beyonwiz.com.au/forum/index.php). That's also where you'll see announcements of future upgrades. You don't need to be registered on the Beyonwiz forum to be able to read most of it. You need to register to post there or to be able to access the Public Beta part of the forum.

If you upgrade to 20180417, you'll need to re-enter all your settings, so I recommend that you upgrade before you do any further setup. The next upgrade won't require you to re-enter your setup.

Both the iOS app and the Android app can set and update series recordings. There is however no way to turn a series recording into a single recording (not even on the website), and you can only set series recordings from Coming Soon, Most Popular and Recommendations.

There are other bugs listed in the post I linked to, too - like the inability to set recordings for repeats.
