Title: IceGuide4MCE.exe 1.5 released with fix for Vista
Post by: Russell at IceTV on November 10, 2006, 10:34:12 AM
Hi guys,

Someone on another forum found a solution to the problem in Vista of the registry key being overwritten, and it appears to be a great solution.  I've added the fix to IceGuide4MCE.exe and released version 1.5 on the Support page of our web site:

Please give it a try and let us know how it works.  Hopefully this will take care of the problems in Vista.

Thanks,
Russell

Is there any other changes, from v1.4 or just the Vista fix?

Thanks, been holding out for this for a while now (had to re-run the app each time I wanted an updated guide).

Well, it was a good try, wasn't it  ;)

The "fix" we added to 1.5 apparently triggers a known bug in Vista's MCE.  Looks like we'll have to revert back to version 1.4 for the time being.  Too bad, because it was such a nice clean solution.  We're looking into other ideas now, and will hopefully have something to report soon.  It looks like the KeepKey program that someone else made is working for some people.  You can find it here, although I of course have to include a standard disclaimer about this not being our program, we haven't tested it, if it burns your house down it's not our fault, blah blah blah:

FYI - I've asked Microsoft to have a look at this forum and start providing some fixes. I'm sure the Ice Man has too, but journos seem to get a quicker response!

Here's hoping.
