Title: Anyone received a Skippa yet?
Post by: kavey8 on August 27, 2015, 10:44:35 AM
Last update I saw was about delivery this week.

Just wondering if anyone in the forum has received theirs yet?  If so, what shipping method was used?  (Just thinking about what will happen if no one is at home and the box can't be left (living in a high rise apartment).)

Thanks

I was wondering this myself. Shipping date and receipt date are very different. It is possible they may not start shipping until tomorrow. That would mean arrival time of early next week depending on your location and if your order is one of the first processed.

At one stage I got an email saying "fulfilled" instead of "shipped".
I think shipped is want they should stick to as fulfilled is when we receive it.
Hopefully they are on there way soon as using the IQ3 which needs better software to be reliable and the Skippa will have more features for fta.

Nothing here mate. I emailed them a few days ago and this is their response.

I assume by your question that you haven't received a tracking number yet. I cannot see where you are in the queue as the shipping is being handled by a logistics company and I don't have access to their system.

Everyone who ordered a Skippa will receive an update from IceTV in the next day or two.

I notice the IceTV website now says the The Skippas orders are to be fulfilled in the  last week of August instead of shipped.
So to be fulfilled would mean that the customers have received them and Monday is the last day for that to happen.

I think they should say shipped as the have no control over when the Skippas actuality arrive to the customers as anything may arise to slow delivery which is out of there control.
Either way as long as there on there way I will be happy.

----There you go----

Thank you for pre-ordering a SKIPPA® from IceTV as part of our special introductory promotion. We are sure that you will be pleased with your purchase, as the first SKIPPA® review has been positive. Click here to read the review

During our pre-order sale you saved up to $200 off RRP, and will be among the first to receive a SKIPPA® in Australia.

Allow me to provide you with an update on the fulfillment status of your order.

Following a small initial run, the factory pushed our mass manufacturing slot back for a second time. Australia's order volumes are relatively small when compared to international markets. This makes it difficult for any Australian vendor to obtain priority, hence the delay. However, we are assured by the factory that our new production date will be adhered to.

A small quantity of SKIPPAs® will be shipped next week to customers who placed their order first. From September 10 onwards, we will fulfill the remaining orders on a 'first come, first served' basis. This means that every customer will receive their ordered SKIPPA® in September.

We apologise sincerely for the unforeseeable delay and assure you that IceTV is endeavouring to fulfill your pre-order as soon as possible.

Kind Regards

Heinz Herrmann, CEO

I was just about to post the same thing. Very vague indeed. It doesn't say how many will be in the initial shipment or who will be getting them. I did my pre-order within minutes of it opening. I have no idea where that puts me on the list. Will I be one of the lucky few to receive one? Will I have to wait yet another few weeks? When did IceTV become aware of the delay in mass production and why are they telling us now, at the end of the last week of August?

I just got the same email.

More disappointment. No indication where individaul purchasers are in the delivery process.

I would have thought it would have been appaent before now that the 'last week of August' timeframe was not going to be satisfied.

Update I see that since this morning they have removed the reference on the home page about fulfilment being in the last week of August.

Ian

To me it would have been more satisfying if they mentioned during the pre-order time that this is a "work in progress" product that hasn't been fully tested yet and treat it almost as a kickstart product. Then I could have made the decision to spend a couple of hundred $$ and not receiving any product for a while. 2x failing on an end date is not valid for a pre-order.
They always have you by saying "We don't want to deliver a product you're not happy with. We want to deliver quality etc etc.". You can't win that argument.

In my opinion it's Crap that they say last few weeks that will be send late August, then they send an email late August saying they are not going to fill orders.
They would have know earlier in the week but wait till end of week poor customer service if you ask me.
And still don't know when we are going to get it.

Hi All

My first post....I am one of the 'missing' people who preordered @ $399 and have been follow comments to date. I ordered the Skippa on 25th June as my LG PVR stopped working and I was curious to the the ad skipping. However I was lead to believe it would be delivered at the end of July, then August and now September - which is a 'first world problem' but slightly annoying, on reflection I should have purchased any other PVR from IceTV.

For everyone's benefit I received the following from Dave yesterday:

It looks like only a small quantity have been shipped from the manufacturer with the remainder coming a week later. I don't how many are arriving this week until they get here. If it's more than 280 yours will be sent to you by Monday (your order was the 275th). As stated above I purchased on the 25th June.

So in the first month of pre-orders they apparently sold 280 units (pre-orders opened on 25 May). I wonder how many were ordered on the first day.

And they were aware of the delivery issue yesterday (if not before) yet did not do anything until this morning (email and removing shipping/fulfilment information from the IceTV home page).

if they only sold 280 units in the first month, could that mean that they haven't sold the first 1000 units yet?

bought mine on the first of June so would be interested in how many they sold the first week.

I was interested in why my order was 165 units behind the order above when I ordered it a month earlier on May 27th and Dave from Icetv states that the above order was placed on May 25th not June 25th. So they sold at least 450 units in the first 3 days.

Whilst I don't wish to get involved in the arguments and ongoing niggling going on in this thread, preferring to stay neutral now and just wait...

I will say this...

Altech-UEC who are apparently making the Skippa, have so far manufactured over 25 million PVR units world wide, they are no small manufacturer.

It is in fact very true that Australia's market is small compared to the rest of the world, that a quite well known point of agreement amongst many in the IT and electronics industry.

It is entirely possible that the manufacturer did in fact push the order back, as an order for 2000 skippas say for example vs an order for 50000 for company X in Europe – you can see that they they don't stand a chance...

This is commonly an issue with dealing with large OEM manufacturers overseas and is not specific to ICETV.

Now how this delay has been handled... Again as stated on whirlpool, I'm just not prepared to go into and debate, I'm not desperate for it so I'm happy waiting until it eventually surfaces, which considering I ordered on the 25th as well, may be a couple of weeks or may be next week, we shall see....

How are you people finding out where you are in the queue? I sent an e-mail to IceTV in reply to today's e-mail and haven't heard anything. I'd love to know where I stand.

I need this thing as soon as I can get it. I gave away my other PVR a month ago in anticipation of Skippa arriving and my TiVo is playing up something shocking.

I emailed icetv earlier and they replied back saying they "didn't have access to the logistics system" so they couldn't see where i was in the queue.   so i would be interested as well partial fulfillment worries me a bit....

FMB i was in the same situation and bought a 1TB for both my dead tivo's and resurrected them.   There are plenty of good tutorials on the web and the process is pretty simple.  Ping me if you need some links.

Hmm, I hope this "small quantity" isn't the same small quantity that the staff and family have been playing (evaluating) with.
Title: Re: Anyone received a Skippa yet?

I also was wondering where the 'small quantity' was coming from. Three possibilities come to mind:

Another, related possibility (extremely unlikely given what we have been told) that the problem is getting the units into Australia in an expeditious manner rather than the manufacture.

I can understand that IceTV may find it difficult to inform all those with pre-orders of their exact position, however, once the number of units ready for despatch next week is know, they could give the invoice number for the cut-off point thereby reducing the uncertainty.

But the whole point is the handling of the delay. As a consumer in good faith handing over money I should not have to care/worry where the product is designed, developed, manufactured, shipped from. That's the company's (who sells the product) responsibility. I deal with them and not with their manufacturer, because that's how the process works.

Why didn't they wait until they had 500 units (Randomly picked here) in stock knowing they were of the quality they expected.
Anyway I will end here as we can't do anything about it. Let's hope this is the last delay :-)

I just went and had a look at my invoice. It was timestamped 12:07 pm on May 25. My invoice number is 200819. I have no idea if this means anything. Perhaps I'm 19 in a queue which has been running since 2008? For all we know, every negative comment we make here could push us to the back of the queue.

MY order was placed on 12th June with an invoice number of 202153. And still qualified (apparently) for the "first 1000" offer !!

My invoice number is in the 2017xx range purchased very early in June and I was advised there are about 700 skippa orders before mine.

Hopefully mine arrives earlier in September rather than later.

Mine is invoice 201163 and I ordered on the 25th as well, but admittedly very late, nearly midnight I think, as I didn't get home till very late that day...

So they definitely took a lot of orders that's for sure, it would seem so anyway...

Am currently playing with my Altech 9600T that will eventually be my backup unit when the Skippa arrives.

Yes, it is entirely possible, my problem not so much with the delay, but with the way we are being treated like mushrooms

For starters, they shouldn't have even put them on pre-sale until the unit was fully tested and the shipment (for at least the 1000, that they were offering) was en route to Australia.  That way, there wouldn't have been a problem.   It really does seem like kickstarter project.

Just had a thought, wonder where in the  queue the people are who won a Skippa, (was it four people?)  even before the pre-sale started?

WOW out of three pages of customer angst aginst the latest delay the only official ICE reply is to pick on someone for making a mistake, nice one Dave  ::)

I do not believe Dave was picking on anyone. He was merely minimising the potential confusion arising from stating the order was made in June rather than August May.

All my orders for PVRs from IceTV have than statement. Apparently they updated their account system and all old order had that added to them as well as new orders that had not yet been sent. In the context it seems to mean no more than 'not yet shipped'.

Hmm.  I don't have a shipping status at all.  Just a list of everything I bought going back to 2006.  All (except the Skippa) required no delivery, as they were just subscriptions.  So, if all the other items are considered "delivered" then so should the Skippa be  :P  (of course, it is not and won't be for quite a while, I would be near the end of the queue)

Hi Judy,

Try refreshing your browser (press Ctrl+F5 or Command+F5) because I can see your SKIPPA order at the top of the My Orders page in your account.

Wouldn't your shipping status change under your My Account/My Orders page if it's been shipped?

Correct. When your SKIPPA is posted you receive a system generated email with an Australia Post tracking number, and the shipping status of your order in your account changes from

Shipped:Pending

to

Shipped:2015-09-01 (Shipping company: Australia Post -
http://auspost.com.au/track/ (http://auspost.com.au/track/) / Tracking number: Rxxxxxxxxxxx6004)

Normally PO Boxes are not accepted because most of the suppliers of the products we sell use couriers who refuse to deliver to PO Boxes.

If you change the address in your account that will be used as the shipping address. Or if your preferred shipping address (for SKIPPA orders only) is a PO Box or Parcel Locker then don't change the address in your account (the website won't let you). Instead, email support from the email address that is in your IceTV account and include your 6 digit invoice number and your preferred delivery address and we will add the delivery address to your order.

Dave - have you shipped any Skippas this week? The silence from your regulars on this forum would indicate that you haven't shipped any as yet - but that is mere speculation.

Misunderstanding, Dave.
I can see the SKIPPA listed under my orders, I was replying to ColdasIce, who said "What does your shipping status say? on the my/account/myorders/ page it says shipped:pending"
I meant that I don't have shipping status shown at all, it doesn't even seem to have a  spot where that could be shown.

You are right. That is strange. When viewing your order online it does not show the Shipped status section like it should. There should be an extra line below the Total line - but it's not shown on your order. Refreshing the browser makes no difference.

I'll get that fixed for you (and anyone else who has the same problem).

It would seem that those who ordered first either aren't on the forum or only lurk and don't post. Or maybe their local post office hasn't delivered it to them yet (though if they were regular posters here I'd expect them to have posted that they received their tracking number).

To generate online feedback it would have been ideal to deliver SKIPPAs to the regular posters on the forum first but that would not have been fair to all those who aren't posters on the forum and made the effort to order in the first minute or two after pre-ordering started.

Not sure how many got in before me but I haven't received a tracking number yet...

12:02:46 was the cutoff point as there were quite a few who ordered before 12:02:46. As you ordered at 12:03:56 yours will be sent the very first day they start shipping when the rest of the SKIPPAs arrive next week.

I'm mighty impressed with all the people that managed to place their orders so quickly.

Just got response from Dave at IceTV about when shipping would start:

Hi Ian,
Thank you for contacting IceTV Customer Service.
I was told that the bulk of the Skippa production run were going to arrive by plane on the 10th, but they won't be in Sydney until Sat or Sun (they have customs clearance pre-approved). Then the Sydney warehouse will start posting them to customers on Mon or Tue. Your order is near the top of the list so you will get a tracking number on Sunday or Monday.
There is an official email going out to today.
Best Regards,
Dave
IceTV Support Team

So another (somewhat shorter delay) in delivery.

So I just received an email saying.
"Mass production of SKIPPA® remains on schedule. We have started to fulfill the earliest pre-orders. About half of the pre-ordered SKIPPA® volume arrives in Sydney by air freight over the weekend, with the remainder not far behind. We have increased staff in our Sydney warehouse to speed up customer shipments from Monday on a "first-ordered, first-shipped" basis."
My invoice number is 201060 so I'm not sure where that will put me but hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones that will receive my SKIPPA soon

I thought the unit where going to be shipped via Air to us the customers - Look at the "How long will the delivery of my order take?" webpage, all the delivery times look to be road freight. I living in regional Western Australia and it's going to take 7-9 days which is road freight. I have found these words in a older email date 31st of July : "SKIPPA production will be in full swing by mid-August and we will air-freight your SKIPPAs to avoid any further delay."

Whilst it is open to interpretation, and is a little ambiguous - it does refer to the skippas being delivered from the OEM (manufacturer) to ICETV, not the customer...

To be honest I think it's a bit insulting getting an email from IceTV today telling me units are now shipping and I can click on ORDER NOW to place my order when I still haven't received an ETA on when the pre-order I placed and paid for back in May!

And yes, I may have saved $100 (if I ever receive the unit), someone else has benefited on the payments taken on our pre-orders...

Looking at the delivery timeframes from the link in the email it looks like it's just standard parcel post.

and has not been updated for 4 years.

In my experience the delivery is much quicker than the listing indicates.

That's for sure Ian, those times must be the absolute maximums...

Perth 6 to 8 days is not true. Most times if a parcel is sent out Monday from Sydney I'll have it before Friday. And vice versa...

Perhaps it also includes weekends as we all know Aust post doesn't include those in their delivery times, they state delivery to Perth as 3-5 business days from the east coast metro to metro, so if you add a weekend into that it can be 7 days total so pretty close to ICETVs timeframes.

If I'm lucky I get next day delivery by Aust Post Courier and StarTrack for items sent from Sydney. Aust Post eParcels are usually 2 days (but sometimes only 1).

As far as I can remember all 4 itmes I purchased from IceTV arrived the following day.

Those delivery timeframes were written years ago and would include a weekend (or two, if it's more than 7 days). Most products purchased from IceTV are drop-shipped from the distributor and one of the distributors only had courier pickups twice per week when that page was written.

Nothing yet and I'm one of the early ones (I believe). Here's where I think the process is currently at (but it's just a guess).
The last we heard, they had arrived by plane in one country and had to be transferred to another plane for the rest of the journey. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we received an e-mail on Friday telling us that the second aircraft had mechanical problems. Due to local customs requirements, the shipment could not be removed from the aircraft to another aircraft.

The airline contacted Boeing who are out of stock of the damaged part. They have ordered more parts from their OEM and they are currently in a queue, awaiting production (assuming they don't get bumped for a larger order). Once the part is made, it will be shipped to Boeing in Seattle who have added extra staff to expedite delivery of the part to the country in question. Once received and fitted to the aircraft, the Skippa shipment will continue on it's way to Oz.

So, it looks like IceTV were right about delivery at the end of July. They just forgot to specify the year.

I contacted Support a week or so ago when they were expected a small number in. Another forum member had a low number but ordered a month after I did and I just asked where I was in the queue. Ended up he got the month wrong and was a couple of days before me and therefore a few hundred slots above me.

FMB - pmsl - that is hilarious, however they may just use your story on Friday.

On a serious side, there is a little bit of legislation called the Trade Practices Act 1974 and it has a section on misleading and deceptive conduct. This is perhaps something that IceTV should review given their public statements on shipping, when they will be delivered and the fact that to date the devices have made it to Hong Kong. Section 18 staeres:

18 Misleading or deceptive conduct
(1) A person must not, in trade or commerce, engage in conduct that is misleading or deceptive or is likely to mislead or deceive.

I can tell by your invoice number that your Skippa won't be in the first big shipment (which has left the factory and is on it's way to Australia). Butt he good news is that the rest of the Skippas are only 1 week behind the current batch. Being in Melbourne you may just receive it before the end of the month as promised.

If your invoice number is 201070 and you are 275th in the queue then, assuming all orders are for Skippas, the 1st person in the queue would have invoice number 200796.

So if you want to work out where you are roughly in the queue just subtract 200795 from your invoice number. Obviously this would be more accurate for those that ordered early as more non-Skippa orders would have been placed in between.

That would put me in the first 50 orders. I have yet to receive any email saying my Skippa has shipped though.  :(

I also contacted them and was told that I was number 275 - I ordered on the first day pre-orders opened. The invocies seem to be sequential and mine is 201070, noting that other services/devices would be purchased.

My invoice number is 201241 and I'm 447 on the wait list so your maths hold true.  :)

Not good that you're in the first 50 and haven't got it. Couldn't have been many in the 1st shipment.  :(

Well if correct, I would be no 14, surely in the first batch?

But alas, I have not heard anything either  :'(

That's a big assumption. Why would IceTV have separate invoice numbers just for Skippa orders? The invoice number for my most recent subscription (mid-2014) was 185291. That's consistent with a single numbering applying to (at least) both subscriptions and Skippa orders.

Perhaps someone with a recent subscription invoice might like to compare their invoice number with the numbers being posted for Skippa orders.

I think the only thing the invoice number and queue position tell us is "If your invoice number is 201070 and you are 275th in the queue then the 1st person in the queue would have invoice number no greater than 200796". Which is rather less useful.

My invoice number was 200800 which would put me very early in the list but according to Dave there were quite a few before me.

I still have not received any details regarding shipping.

Although I have been a fan and supporter of IceTV for a long time the way they keep telling us one thing and not delivering is becoming quite annoying.  Their communication has gone from being poor to bordering on misleading.

If another e-mail is sent out 5pm on Friday saying another delay I will be very disappointed.

Perhaps CuriousGeorge was told he was 275th in the queue of outstanding orders.  ie.  Not where he was in the queue of all orders (including those small amount that have now been fulfilled).

The invoice numbers work out for my order as well. It would appear you are in the top few.

As we haven't heard from anyone who has received their Skippa yet has anyone actually received their shipping confirmation let alone the Skippa itself. No one on the forums at least. I do think that is unusual.

Starting to worry that the little evidence we have, and to be fair it is slight, is pointing to another disappointing Friday email (if we're lucky).

On Tuesday evening I was provided with the following information:

"We are still expecting the tracking numbers for this entire mass shipment of Skippas to be to sent to consumers this week and customers to start receiving their Skippas a couple of days later (depending on where they are located)."

Not sure what this really means. Presumably tracking numbers will not be sent before the units are prepared for delivery. So, it may be we get the tracking numbers Friday night and first deliveries are not until early next week.

And your invoice number and queue place are?

My invoice number os 200817 which would mean, if we are surmising correctly, I'm about 22nd in the queue.

I don't think very many people could have order before the 12:02.46 cut off time if my order is 22nd at 12:08.

Invoice 201241 and Icetv told me I was order 447. I ordered mine about 3 days after pre-orders opened.

It would appear that 200796 was the first order (or there about). This is supported by CuriousGeorge whose invoice is 201070 and was told he was in place 275 in the queue.  Mine is out by 1 but that would probably be an order for something else not a Skippa.

So that would mean you are very low in the queue. It's not a great deal of info to go on though.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else has been given a queue number and what their invoice number is to see if this theory holds. If it does it would mean Icetv hasn't been fully truthful with order numbers and then if not with that what else?  :-\

Doesn't really add much to the lack of communication and where are they arguments though. September 17th and no sign of Skippa. 8)

I wish my TIVO had held on for another couple of months. :(

---snip---
The first big shipment of Skippas left the factory on Monday and is expected to arrive at the Sydney warehouse today, tomorrow, or Monday and be posted ASAP
---end snip---

That is not resetting expectations. It's just guessing. And this is just the first shipment.
The other shipment is apparently a week after that. That's shipment, meaning ship is filled and leaving dock.....hmmmm based on history it's going to be a long wait.
Hope I'm wrong.

On the basis of the wording used I am 90% confident that the first shipment has landed at Sydney airport. The uncertainty is over how long it will take for them to reach the warehouse (something that may well be outside the control of IceTV).

Dave (IceTV Customer Support)

Aug 26, 2:20 PM

Hi George,

Thank you for contacting IceTV Customer Service

It looks like only a small quantity have been shipped from the manufacturer with the remainder coming a week later. I don't how many are arriving this week until they get here. If it's more than 280 yours will be sent to you by Monday (your order was the 275th).

Best Regards,

Dave
IceTV Support Team

I'm guessing the small amount shipped are the testing devices that were shown in a photo. I'm wondering if Centrebet will take bets on another Friday delay email coming out - i'm guessing odds would be 1.04 if they could take them.......

Received my Tracking number from Aust Post yesterday and just now another email saying my Skippa is due for delivery today. Too bad I won't be at home to receive it, so hopefully will be able to pick it up at the PO this afternoon. Will post again once I have it in my hot little hands!

You must be in Sydney. The only advice I have has is that the item is at Australia Post facility CHULLORA NSW; that was 22:15 last night and nothing more. Estimated delivery is Friday.
