Yep, Build 5472 breaks ICETV.
Can you guys provide update (preferably one that installs without warnings as well) and I can test for you in Build 5472.

Sweet - I have that build now as well. I will try it out.
I didn't have any problems with Pre-RC1 (5536) and now RC1 is out so I'll try it with that.
I've got Vista RC1 and after running the MCE Application and trying to setup the guide I get an Australia does not support TV guide error. Any help would be appreciated!
I just moved to RC1 (64 bit) as well and its not working :-(
I've just done a fresh install of Build 5600 RC1 (x86), ran the IceGuide4MCE.exe installer, then chose "Setup Guide Listings" in Vista Media Center and all is working without an issue.
I did have to choose to allow running the installer at an administrator prompt, but other than that it installed just like it did/does under MCE 2005.
Have to say - now that I am playing with it more I love the new guide - the mini guide is something they should have had in MCE 2005.

OK, there is a registry fix for the 64 bit version of Vista. IceTV guide installs as a 32 bit application, so Widnows Vista 64 bit moves it in to a different area of the registry from whats expected. You need to be looked in as Administrator to fix this:
* Ensure Media Centre is not running
* Press with windows key + R to bring up the run dialogue
* Run Regedit
* Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG
* Right click on the EPG folder and Export to a place of your choosing.
* in Windows Explorer, right click on the newly created reg file and choose edit.
* Remove the Wow6432Node reference so that it now reads:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG]
* Save the file.
* Right click on the reg file and select merge and agree to the warnings
* Run Media Centre, go and set up the TV guide and it should ALLLLLL be working :-)

And as always, never play in the registry if you dont know what you're doing!
Additional note:
It appears that Media Centre will sometimes override your imported settings at the time of updating, and it'll appear not to work. If this happens, do not cancel or quit media centre. Right click on your edited reg file again and choose merge, accepting all the warnings once more. Once that's done, retrun to media centre, blick back to return to the postcode input, type your postcode, select Next and it should now work.

I'm also running Vista RC1 (32bit) and although I've run the iceguide installer, MCE isn't seeing ICETV as a provider. Shane are you able to give me any more details about the steps you took?

All I did was install the IceTV software, allow it via the admin prompts then do a "Setup Guide Listings" in Media Center. It didn't come up as MCE 2005 does with IceTV as the guide provider, just skipped past that an started channel scanning.
Only thing different is I scanned channels before installing the IceTV software - not sure if that does anything.

Vista has something built in that prevents the Iceguide installer modifying the required registry entries. You need to right-click on the Iceguide installer, click on Properties, then on the Compatibility tab select Run as Administrator.
Also, I have had problems with it not recognising Iceguide. To fix this I did what was said before in this thread, ran the installer again with the MCE setup wizard still running then go back to MCE and click back to enter the postcode again then it finds Iceguide fine.

RC1 came up with the no guide available, and I re-ran the ice setup, then went back and forward again to postcode, and all good.
I like the mini-guide.

Peter, if you're following this thread - can you distinguish between a vista registration and an MCE registration at the server end? I keep on losing my MCE registrations - every time I register a vista install, it kicks off my oldest registered MCE to sample guide - which is (of course) the HTPC.
I'm unable to get the guide working on RC1 (5600) 32-bit. When I first installed RC1 guide set worked fine and downloaded the listings. However, x days later (7??) it tried and couldn't get a subsequent update. Now when I try and config the guide listed there is a error: "Download Error, download incomplete" on the screen after you enter the 0000 postcode.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this any further. Is anyone looking into the issue, RC1 is behaving fine, so it would be a shame to have to go back to mce2005...

I've been running it for well over 7 days now and havent lost it. Fingers crossed!
Every time you want to update the guide data, you need to re-run IceGuide4MCE.exe and go through the wizard with MediaCenter open. Once the wizard is complete, go to Settings > TV > Guide > Get latest guide listings.
Hopefully this is just a pre-release problem and won't require the people here at Ice to change their setup program.
Using the suggested regedit fix for the 64 bit version, I've worked out a solution that solved my problem of not being able to see the online service and download the latest listings:
* after Media Center downloads the latest settings for the region of Australia ...
* keep Media Center running
* Press with windows key + R to bring up the run dialogue
* Run Regedit
* Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\EPG
* Right click on discSvcOverride and choose Modify
* Copy the over-ride link into the clipboard (Ctrl-C). It should be http://iceguide.icetv....
* Right click on discSvc and choose Modify
* Paste the url into the icetv link into the discSvc setting
* in Media Center ... continue with the usual Guide setup process and it should find the latest guide listings.
Also, I've noticed Media Center over-rides these new settings regularly so I've been re-doing it every time I need to download the guide while Media Center is running ... just before I select "Update guide listings" option.
For me, re-running the IceGuide4 installer before updating guide listing doesn't seem to work.
Any solutions that ICETV going to offer for RC2? - apart from running the exe time, and the above solutions?

I'm on Vista RC2 and have tried the trick above (run iceguide.exe as administrator, while MCE is in the background)......but when i enter the postcode in the MCE guide setup, it just seems to get stuck on 'connecting to the internet' - and goes nowhere from that.
I know it is connected to the net because I can go browsing on the net while it is stuck on this message.
Would have anyone have any idea what is going on with this little quirk?

believe the only way to fix this issue is for the ice tv server to have a https address. If you change the reg key to https://ictv** vista doesnt change the key back but of course you still cant get the guide because icetv guide isnt on a https address.

Well, this looked pretty promising, so I did some tests. You can actually get the guide via https by just changing the first part of the registry key from "http://iceguide" to "https://www". But unfortunately Vista still changes the key back after you do a guide retrieval :( I think the reason it wasn't changing yours was because it never did a successful fetch with "https://iceguide".
I know we haven't been very vocal on this whole issue lately, but we have been looking into it. It looks like we may have to have a solution that involves changing the registry key back somehow before a fetch. Possibly through the PIMP client, at least for those running that program on MCE. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, hopefully we'll have a good solution for it soon. That would've been an easy fix if it had worked :)

Problem is, the MS Guide Server can be found... it just says "Sorry, no guides for .au"
I'm running RC2 atm (and RTM next week probably) - but I think the solution is to install a service or something that sits there and monitors the registry for any changes to those two keys.

Yep, looks like Niall hit it right on the head. I've tested it out here and it seems to work great. I've also added the fix to IceGuide4MCE.exe and released version 1.5 on the Support page of our web site:

I'm Running Vista x64 Ultimate RTM Build 6000 and all is working except for Nvidia 7300 GS (96.85 Drivers for Vista x64 doesn't work properly with Standard 68cm CRT TV output ?

Appears to be heaps of problems with Icetv and Vista now... So we all are using the Keepkey service instead of playing around with the registry (as advised by Microsoft) - but in doing so, the guide gets mucked up badly... loosing channels, disappearing, channels that you do not want displayed appearing, updating the channels each day is a hassle, but impossible - as channels are duplicated, items marked for showing are not shown, or changing their status appears to make no difference...
With the immediate arrival of Vista, this is a serious problem - with the hordes of people about to purchase Vista, and likely to use Media Center for the first time, it was possibly a great time for icetv to grow and increase users - however thats going to be unlikely while these problems exist...
I would hope that Icetv are in contact with Microsoft australia, applying pressure for either a solution or workaround...
Apparantly this is now happening to MCE2005 users too!!!
Good news - I think I have a fix - one that appears to work - but doing some more testing, and will post back later today with hopefully good news...
Ok I have tested it on one of my machines, did some updates - back and forth, changed dates / times, compared it to another machine of mine... The one with the fix has a good guide, the one without the fix got the guide corrupted...
So no guarantees - but hopefully this workaround might fix some problems - Only limited testing over one day, tomorrow morning will be the big test, as my guide would normally corrupt in Vista - so I await to see if it does work without fiddling...
