I've given up trying to use my Synology NAS to increase space for recordings.  Not because of IceBox but a problem with Synology nfs shares. Therefore, I've purchased a 4Tb USB drive.  LibreElec automatically recognises the drive and mounts it to /var/media/TOSHIBA EXT.
Can anyone suggest how I can override this automatic behaviour and instead, mount it to /storage/recordings, please?

General / Permanent Directory Mounts in IceBox
April 27, 2024, 03:06:30 PM
Given that our now failing HUMAX has 2 Tb and it always seems to be full, the 1Tb in the new IceBox seems inadequate.
Of, course, I could buy a 4Tb SSD drive and substitute it for the one supplied but they cost in the $500-600 range and I already have a Synology NAS with 5Tb of free space and the ability to add another 6Tb reasonably cheaply.
I have therefore tested mounting shares on the NAS to the IceBox for the recording, pictures, tvshows and videoa directories, with success.
I now want to make those shares permanent so they survive a reboot.  The Linux way is to enter them into the fstab file at /etc/fstab.  Trouble is, in LibreElec the fstab file is a protected system file which can't be changed even by the root user.

The process for doing this with Kodi appears to be to add a Skin which goes into the /storage/.kodi/addons directory, copy that skin to another file in the same directory then add a fstab file to that.

Does anyone know of a better way?

Thanks, great news.  I see the new firmware has just been released.  Has the Ios App been updated yet?

General / Where is the Update folder?

I need to install the new firmware manually since the version of my icebox predates the automatic update.  I have searched all the directories using WinSCP for the Update directory but cannot find it.  Where should it be?

With regard to the Roadmap, Item 4 is a rewrite of the iPhone app.  When doing this, can you modify it to operate full screen on an iPad, please?  My wife decides what to record and she finds the current interface too small and "fiddly"

General / Re: Using HD Homerun with IceBox

SOLVED
Thanks for all your comments.  While the automatic scan was starting, nothing was being scanned.  I then inserted a tuner in the USB port but with no antenna attached.  This time, the scan started, channels were found and all worked.  To be certain, I removed the USB tuner, leaving only the HDHomerun and it continues to work.

I decided to replace the USB tuner (no antenna) just in case it wouldn't rescan.

Has anyone been successful in using a HDHomerun as the tuner for an IceBox?  I'd be grateful for a simple how to.

Comskip is installed in IceBox by default. Is it used when recording or must it be enabled by the User?

General / Re: Streaming from PLEX to IceBox

Thanks for that.  Actually, it was my first thought but, try as I will, I can't connect to the NAS shares.  I've enabled SMB and NFS on the Icebox and the NAS.  I can see the NAS itself and the main share although none of its sub-directories which are also shares.  The Icebox demands a login to the NAS but, when I enter a valid username from the NAS with its password, it doesn't accept it.  Admittedly, the NAS is joined to a Domain but I have no problem in seeing and using the share on a non-domain PC.
Clearly I don't have enough Linux knowledge to even be dangerous!

General / Streaming from PLEX to IceBox
June 04, 2023, 05:48:47 PM
I have a Synology NAS with PLEX server installed using a HDHomerun 4 tuner.  I would like to stream from it to Icebox.  Kodi has a PLEX Add-On for just this purpose.  I have installed the Add-On but it just sits there doing nothing.  It is supposed to let me sign into my Plex Account.

Has anyone managed to get this combination working.
