Topfield / New Topfield loader and TAP release
March 30, 2005, 05:42:38 PM
A new Topfield loader release and corresponding .tap has been posted at http://www.icetv.com.au/ts_howto.php

Main improvement is that multiple .ini files are supported to provide easy selection of region.

There was also a problem with daylight saving adjustments which could result in guide times being out by an hour in the old release.

Any feedback appreciated.

XMLTV (General) / Re: Support for ABC 2 ?

We are considering this and looks likely we will be doing it at some point. Priority is to get all capital cities up for the 5 main channels.

No plans at the moment.  It requires cooperation from the suppliers to allow us access to their software (unless they suport xmlTV natively).

The first STB-style PVR that will use Ice epg is the Topfield TF5000PVRt.

We have a new website, which will be open in a few days, that will offer more details.

Anyone running IceGuide with MythTV or anything else other than Showshifter, MCE or Topfield?

This is the file I use here in the Blue Mts, where I receive some Wollongomg and some Sydney channels.  Hope this gives you enough information for your needs.  This is the IceGuide4Topfield.ini file on the pc, not the ini file on the Topy, that is generated automatically by the IceGuide4Topfield.exe

Let me know how it goes...

Topfield / Re: Channel "1" in Sydney has no guide d
February 20, 2005, 10:34:10 PM
Glad to hear that solved the problem.

As a suggestion for testing things, you can turn on "OSD debug" option through the menu you get when you press Exit while watching TV normally.  This will cause a little box to be displayed at the top of the screen showing where it;s up to in loading the guide.

Here are a couple of sites for finding service details:

Okay, this should do the job. Edit IceGuide4Topfeild.ini as follows:

[Alias]
#Alias for Ten Sydney LCN 1
Alias=5,95,1569,1538,4116

This will force it to use LCN 1 instead of 11.  For Sydney mulitplexes only.

Let me whether that solves the problem.

The guide is configured to correspond to LCN 10, not 1.  Can you use LCN instead?

Oh, I just realised that all TEN services will on the same frequency ... doh... you need the one that's called TEN Digital (when you press the OK button to list channels).  If it;s called Ten Digital 1 or something else, it will not match teh guide.  You could set up an alias, but it would be better to simply delete that one and tune in TEN Digital.

Please tell me what frequency is reported for this channel (in the channel banner when you press the i button).

The default settings assume channel 11 for TEN, any reason you want to use 1?  I think yuo can configure an alias in the IceGUide4Topfield.ini file, but I'd need to do some research.

XMLTV (General) / Re: Better Descriptions Possible?
February 12, 2005, 08:13:55 AM
Sure - just ask them to email me first so I can put them on the list.  Sometime soon we will be issuing individual passwords to the beta test folk and disabling the generic one, so if they're not on our database they will be stuck.
