Yes, the two channels were different but it is only the next day that the recording was getting added.

I have now set the timer to 9HD only so hopefully, that should fix it.

I did have Enable Timer Conflict Avoidance ticked.

So, now to why I am getting BBC News st Six recorded when I have never recorded it through IceTV or otherwise.

Thsnkd.

G'day,

All of a sudden I am getting the BBC News at Six recorded.

I have never done an immediate recording of it and I have never setup a series recording or a once off recording of it either.

When I check with the iOS app or on the web, there is no timer to delete. It kooks as though when the first IceTV fetch of the day is done IceTV is setting.

There is something similar happening with Pointless. Here I do have a series recording for new and repeats, but as I understand it, an episode will not be recorded if it has been recorded in the last 24 hours.

This is fine as the program is recorded at 2 pm. This should mean that episode should not be recorded until 2 pm the next day, only it gets recorded at 7:25 am the next day again.

With the BBC News at Six, I have no timer to delete.

With Pointless, I have deleted the timer, removed it as a favourite and then waited until the timer was deleted from the timer list and then waited an hour before I created a fresh timer and checked that the correct episodes were being selected, but the next day, it starts recording the duplicate.

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

It is a tricky one because there are also a movies that start off with similar names. You can see them in this link. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls565802533/

It is the length that would have to be checked.

Thanks.

Getting Help / Re: subtitles by default
May 03, 2024, 03:31:26 PM
Thanks, I've set them while watching live TV and they do not stick. The same for recordings. Selecting the "Set as default for all media" gives a warning but as soon as I go back to normal view, they're gone.

I was hoping to find a more permanent setting.

Driving my IceBox via a mini USB keyboard it is just having to remember to press T. The problem arises when you want subtitles straight away and forget and the timeshift buffer has not started to accumulate.

Getting Help / subtitles by default
May 03, 2024, 11:21:33 AM
G'day,

Is there any way to have the default being subtitles on for all channels?

I have gone through Settings>Player>Subtitles but cannot find a setting to make it the default across all channels.

Is there a way to set it as a default setting?

Thanks.

Quote from: IanL-S on April 30, 2024, 03:08:06 PMIan, what PVR are you using? If it is an IceBox, it is possible that the original timer was created using the IceBox Timer Rules, in that case you will need to delete the timer rule on the IceBox. With the current firmware, when a timer rule "creates" a timer, it is uploaded to the IceTV Server, and if you delete the timer on the IceBox, that is the timer listing (not the timer rule) or via the IceTV app, the timer rule will recreate that timer.

I am using the IceBox.

It is not that the timer keeps showing up because of some other event. There is no option to update or remove the timer. I can go to the timer list, select and delete, and then in a minute or so there is a message telling me the timer has been created.

I have been through the same thing using the web page and the iOS app,

G'day,

I cannot get rid of How It's Made.

I have deleted the timers, but when I go to IceTV, there is no option to remove the timer or no longer make it a favourite. It keeps on recording episodes.

I have tried this on the iOS app and via the the web app.

G'day,

Here is a DIR listing of my Recordings folder. Now who would have thought A CMD prompt and a CMD/DOS window with the DIR command and redirection would have been of use all these years later!

Currently I only have recordings for:

Movie_ Pirates Of The Caribbean_ Curse Of
 Movie_ The Pink Panther 2
 Elon Musk's Twitter Takeover
 Movie_ The Bourne Ultimatum
 Hornby_ A Model Empire
 Doordarshan India Prime Time News
 Pointless

Do all the other folders need to be there? Some are getting close to a year old.

Ok, I did some digging in the Recordings folder.

The broadcast scheduled for 2 pm to 3 pm.

With padding the timer went from 1:55 pm to 3:15 pm.

The most recently closed file in the recording's folder has a time stamp of 3:34 pm.

So, this is approximately 20 minutes.

It comes down to how variable this is based on recording length and if this changes at all.

Thanks.

G'day,

How long after a recording finishes should we try and play it?

This has to do with the ad skip function.

I recorded the World SBK round from the Netherlands on SBS. I gave it a couple of minutes after the program finished, but this was not long enough and no Ad Skip information was created.

Thanks.

Changed to 1920x1080p but no difference.

I have taken two photos. One of my Beyonwiz T2 that shows as 1920x1080i, and one of the Icebox set to 1920x1080p.

Interestingly the IceBox photo is significantly smaller.

Unfortunately I can't attach them to this message because of file size limits, and I do not want to alter the image as that would corrupt the photos.

The thing is that I only tried the resolution changes because at 1920x1080 things looked fuzzy around the edges, and not as crisp as on my BW T2, so I changed the resolution from progressive to interlaced, because that is what the T2 reported and was trying to compare apples with apples. Refresh rate is 50 Hz.

It is back at 1920x1080i and 50 Hz, and I have just done a power cycle but no change.

It is not that it is like being pixelated, just that comparing it to another device with the same settings it is noticeably different and changing resolution settings does not seem to have an effect.

As I said, it is not "bad".

I suppose something for when you have some available time ROFL - sorry...could not resist.

G'day,

Something does not look quite right with the screen resolution on my IceBox.

No matter what resolution I select, it looks the same. From 640x480 through to 4K, the resolution looks the same.

The video signal goes from the IceBox via HDMI to my LG Smart TV.

My BW T2 feeds to another HDMI port and is crisp.

I have swapped HDMI ports on the TV and no change.

Is there something else that needs to be set as was needed to set pre/post padding?

I am setting the resolution using Settings>System>Display>Resolution.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

General / Re: Add Skip Thoughts

Quote from: vader1111 on March 28, 2024, 07:15:27 PMThe up/down arrows jump to the next chapter, if one exists.  If the recording has no chapters, then they jump forwards/backwards by 10 minutes.  So the functionality for that part of your request already exists in Kodi.

Unfortunately the Up and Down arrows do not achieve this.

As soon as the program actually starts there is data embedded in the stream that contains information that says the program has actually started. At the end of the program, again the data stream contains information that says the program has actually ended.

It is much the same for ad breaks. The producer identifies key points where it is a point where the program can be paused for a break. This can be for a station ID or internal promotion. It is why you never see an ad break right in the middle of a sentence - at least the modern ones that have been digitised.

Schedulers simply create a playlist that comprise ad segment headers and program headers.

I have no doubt things will eventually end up this way. If you have access to a Beyonwiz T series or later, you can see this. When the program actually starts, the BW places a bookmark in the recording, and when the program actually ends, the BW places a bookmark in the recording. Now when you play the recording, simply press the Next button and second or so later, you are at the actual start of what you want to watch.

Interestingly 10 News First does NOT broadcast this code because it and every other news broadcast starts precisely at the time advertised. So, see, the schedulers can keep to their advertised schedules, but by not keeping to their advertised schedules, they hope to lock in viewers.
