FYI ... NITV to go HD in December 2023 (& SD moves to a new channel or LCN)

Here's a snippet from the SBS 2024 "Upfronts" from a few hours ago:

SBS's Director of Indigenous Content, and proud Birri and Guugu Yimidhirr woman, Tanya Denning-Orman, announced the upcoming HD launch on free-to-air channel 34 from 5 December, and SBS will launch channel 36 as NITV available in standard definition.

Unfortunately this will mean all the other SBS channels will suffer a reduction in bit-rate. Now if all the FTA networks were to change their SD channels from MPEG/1024x576i to AVC/1024x576i then this wouldn't be such an issue as it would free up scarce bandwidth to allow for more HD channels or higher bitrates.

Considering how old this post is, I was hoping IceTV would be updated to show the new channel on launch day.  No such luck at the moment!
