EyeTV / Re: Request: iCal integration

We might do this at some point.

If we don't, or if you'd like something sooner, a third party developer could probably use the My Upcoming Shows RSS feed to add iCal events with a little bit of work. The My Upcoming Shows RSS feed for your account can be found on this page: http://www.icetv.com.au/interactive/myupcomingshows

They are two separate broadcasts of the same show though, so they both deserve to exist and be flagged as part of a favourite series (how else would you know the show is playing on both channels?). Some regions might have even more duplicates, due to metropolitan and regional stations overlapping.

If you'd prefer to not see the HD channels (or any specific channels), you can turn them off from the back of the widget.

You can also do the same thing from My Account to control what's shown on the IceTV Interactive website and iPhone app:

Quote from: djos on January 23, 2009, 01:12:38 PMJust to throw the  Cat amongst the pigeons, I think the M$ Vista Media Center EPG View is the best yet on a "Device"!
I agree. I really like it.

Media Center in Windows 7 really does look nice.

Yes, that would do it.

Thanks prl.

The RSS feed address is: http://www.icetv.com.au/news/?feed=rss2

You'll need an RSS reader (or Firefox, Safari or a web browser that can read RSS) to read it though.

Quote from: madenglis on January 16, 2009, 02:03:11 PMWill there be an annoucement when it's available? Any idea when?
It's very likely that it'll be announced on the IceTV News page. So if you subscribe to our RSS feed then you'll know the second it's available.

We're working on the feature right now, so it shouldn't be too long, although I can't give an exact date.

"Prefer HD" is coming for series recording. It's a feature we're working on right now.

We agree that this is really important, given the way a lot of Australian TV stations are using their high def channels.

Sounds very similar to the IceTV Widget, except there's 3 columns (which is better for TV) rather than 1.

Widget tip: you can use some keyboard shortcuts on the Mac widget...

Up arrow = minus 1 hour
Down arrow = plus 1 hour
n = Go to today and now

JPP: That's interesting. The aqua text = what's playing now, the yellow outline = what's selected and the blue backgrounded items are...?

I'm not avoiding the question, but this does feel like something that might be better handled by the PVR itself. Only the PVR will know how many free tuners it has, if padding can be applied in full and exactly where conflicts lie (I assume the purpose of combining timers is to free up a tuner so it can be used for other things).

Is this something that you (wimpy, gary) would like to see happen automatically all the time? Or only as a special case where you decide when to combine timers?

How would you expect a device to name and tag a joined timer?

We've opted for a list-style view because it works better with all the interactive features: searching, managing series recordings and favourites, My Upcoming Shows etc. However, we recognise that a grid view for the main TV guide might be something worth doing for the TV guide page only.

We're definitely going to improve some of the other Interactive web page features in early 2009.

I can't say if or when we'd implement a grid view, but thanks for the feedback. We are listening.

An article in the Sydney Morning Herald compared all the various online Australian TV guides: http://www.smh.com.au/news/digital-life/home-entertainment/reviews/compare-digital-tv-guides/2008/12/23/1229998532257.html?page=2
Our Interactive site did quite well.

Hi Chopper,

New channels will be added to our EPG as they become available, in the same way we've added Nine HD, Ten HD and Seven HD previously.

IceTV Guide… now with 7HD & TenHD
IceTV Guide now with NineHD

This process usually takes a few weeks from the full launch of the new channel.

IceTV doesn't provide content (yet).

There's a good chance we will in the future. I don't know that we'll ever have the Young & The Restless though.
