Not sure why closed captions are not working with *.ts; my recollection is that it is a known problem - it is not a TVHeadend problem but a Kodi problem (if I recall correctly).

It is working for me in IceBox. Also in Kodi 21.0 Omega for Windows using the TVHeadend HTSP client and IceBox as the back end, but not when using the Kodi Enigma2 PVR client and a Beyonwiz T2 as the back end. Why I do not know, yet!
It is also working on IceBox recordings made to the (now default) matroska format, not with recordings made to the .ts (pass) format. Again I do not know why, when this format definitely carries the subtitles when viewed with an external player such as MPC-BE configured with its internal mpeg splitter to split .ts files into video audio and subtitle streams. It may be because of some limitations of the Kodi player splitter.
Moreover, the subtitles in IceBox can be switched on or off for individual channels in Live TV, without setting as default for all media, and they appear to stick through channel changes and IceBox reboots. This may need to be confirmed by other users, also the stickiness of enabling/disabling subtitles in recordings which I have not tested thoroughly.
Why this solution has not been made clear in Kodi documentation is not clear to me, but there is a thread in the Kodi forum about "reactivating" the TVHeadend project which is puzzling because of the ubiquitousness and popularity of TVHeadend in linux installations. Perhaps if it were engineered to work in Windows there might be greater interest, or perhaps at the root of all this is the pervasive disregard of the needs of the hard of hearing.

Last post by TimC - May 05, 2024, 03:48:52 PMAfter some battles I have surrendered to the Addon Gods given up on the idea of turning the IceBox into a Smart TV interface.
Basically, I found that the various addons seemed to have an expiry date. They would work fine for about two weeks and then TV Shows would suddenly no longer be accessible. i.e. the folders would appear, but they would be empty. This seemed to happen to all the streaming addons at the same time regardless of whether they were for subscription services (Netflix, etc.) or Catchup TV services (7Plus, etc.).
I tried working through the Kodi forum with the guy who supports one of the Subscription Service addons (Paramount+) and got little help. He looked at a Log and quickly blamed IceTV and refused to do any more. I have my doubts that IceTV would be the problem. It just isn't in the same ballpark. Something that is common and downstream from the various addons is the likely culprit, but how to identify it or get some help to sort the issue out is another matter.
Given that it takes most of a day to load the Addons and get them running, the idea of having to do a Soft Reset and reload them every two weeks just isn't worth it.
For now, I have given up and returned the IceBox to its standard setup.
If someone else wants to take it further and have some success, please post the solution here.

Last post by NBOSTI - May 05, 2024, 03:19:14 PMNow that I think back on the EyeTV set up, in the settings I had to specify whether I wanted to use it as dual tuner or in Diversity mode (basically boosting the signal).
So it is not surprising that it will only be seen as a single tuner on the IceBox.
I will just purchase another USB tuner from IceTV, save the cabling mess. Those EyeTV tuners will be around for, and if, I want to play around setting up BYOB.

Only looked into this when I had conflicting schedules, over 4 networks.
So, I have a few diversity tuners, am going to test whether I can plug another into the USB side port.
If good that sould give me 4 tuners. Each capable of recording all network channels? Correct?
