How do cancellations work?

I usually have a series record through interactive for Dark Blue on Wednesday at 10.30pm. Go in their wisdom have decided to replace Dark Blue with repeats of Big Bang I would expect that the interactive would delete Dark Blue and thats it, however instead it has deleted Dark Blue Series record and replaced it with a single ep recording of Big Bang ??? why ?
