I agree.  I find the TV Guide on the icetv web site to be extremely difficult to work with, if not unusable.  There are several websites and apps which show programs in this format, such as http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/tv/ and the ON AIR Android app, and indeed, the EPGs built into my Sony TV and into my Humax PVR.

With the channel by channel format, one can readily peruse specific channels at a glance (including when jumping forward in time), see which programs overlap (across two or more channels), and see which programs follow which (on the same channel).

In my view, this format is absolutely essential, and a glaring omission.

Humax / Re: Need channels from two regions

Thanks Madeleine and Dave.  I will give this a try and will post my results here.  It might take a week or so as I'm quite time poor.  I assume that following your advice will results in all current scheduled recordings (notably, series recordings) being removed, so I will need to make a manual record of these and set them up again after resetting the channels.

Having said that, though, having to set up scheduled recordings on my phone rather than on the PVR's EPG would be very inconvenient.  For an explanantion of this, please see my (unanswered) post "Grouping programs by channel on the IceTV Guide" (http://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php/topic,4357.0.html).  In short, on the app, I would like to see programs by channel on the vertical axis with times on the horizontal axis - just like the PVR's EPG, or http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/tv/.  Perhaps I'm missing something - is such a format already available?

Humax / Re: No iView?

I think someone else with a firmware version earlier than 1.08.22 will need to respond to Carl.  I don't know how to downgrade to an earlier version, nor do I think it would be advisable to do so.  The fact that this stopped working after my firmware was upgraded, combined with the fact that the PVR itself freezes, would strongly suggest that this is a Humax problem, not an iview problem.

Humax / Re: Skipping/pixelated on time shifted viewing

I also experience this problem, and I find it extremely frustrating.  Frequently, when I play recorded programs, I will see a warning that the program has not recorded properly.  Like photo-mac, I can rewind to the skipped part (to the point just a moment after the start of the skipped segment) and watch it, although the presence of pixelation is evidence of some signal loss.  Nevertheless, I'd prefer to watch the segments of a program with some pixelation rather than have the Humax PVR decide that I should not watch it.  (It's doing me no favours by skipping.)

I have also noticed that the Humax seems to have a less sensitive receiver than the television.  If on the Humax a live program is pixelated, or if there is a black screen with a "Weak signal" message, I can often switch back to the television's own receiver, where I encounter no such problem with the signal.  Seems like this has to be a problem inherent in the Humax device which is compounded by its tendency to deny the viewer the right to watch every part of a recorded program.

Humax / Need channels from two regions
August 31, 2014, 11:51:08 PM
We live in an area of Sydney (Castle Hill) where some channels are best received from Sydney transmission towers, and some channels are best received from Wollongong transmission towers.  Prior to using icetv (using the native Humax EPG), we were able to see program information on all these channels.  However, using the icetv EPG, we can not only see program information on Sydney channels, even though we can select the Wollongong channels.  We also, due to this, cannot record programs on Wollongong channels.

How can this be resolved?  How can we set icetv up for both Sydney and Wollongong channels?

iview doesn't work for me, either.  I can get to the point of selecting a program, but when I press the control to play the program, my Humax HDR-7500T freezes.  The only means of proceeding is to power the unit off and on again.  This happened only after I sent my PVR into Humax for repairs, and it was returned with a firmware upgrade (1.08.22).  Is Humax fixing this?

I find the TV Guide on the icetv web site to be extremely difficult to work with.  Don't you think it would be useful to have a view showing programs by channel (with one row for each channel, moving left/right to see earlier/later programs), similar to http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/tv/, and indeed, similar to the EPG on my (Humax) PVR?

Part of the advantage of this is that one can readily see which programs overlap (across two or more channels), and which programs follow which (on the same channel).  It would also enable one to easily check a particular channel at a glance (without the need to change the selection to view a single network or channel).
