...doesn't work. "Unsupported Operating System". Anyone know of a workaround? Maybe a registry tweak. Often this problem is the result of the installer doing an OS version check and not necessarily because the app just won't run on that (later) version.
Sorry, no workaround but I will release an update to accommodate Win8 this week.
Glad I read this - was about to update my media centre pc.
Have come to rely on the IceTv integration :-\
We've had a quick look at what's required and it wasn't as simple as we thought.
For starters, we need to release a separate build for Win8 as Media Center is built with .Net Framework Version 4 thus our application will also need to target that framework.
Given the current priorities with Interactive V4, this will have to wait a week or so.
Any ETA on Ice TV for Win 8 yet?

I hear you. I use WMC all the time. Bad news is: Windows 8 will not ship with WMC. We will have to pay for it separately. Ditto for DVD playback. There will be a separate media pack for which we'll be charged a 'nominal' fee!
Actually not true, Windows Media Centre is now a separate download for FREE.
aka... I'm using it on this computer
any update on the Windows 8 build?
Windows 8 will be RTM this week the last I read. Will be available to the general public in October.
So when will Ice support it.
Kevin
We'll be resuming work on Interactive V4 shortly... we've been waiting for RTM.
Interactive V4 runs as a native plugin, not a windows desktop app, so it will be available via the Xbox extender.
We'll get out a beta version before end of the month, and target end of Sep for official release.
Sorry it's taken so long, not enough hours in the day. :(
Well I can't get Windows 8 till october 26 (last I read) as thats when the $40.00 professional (highest version and only one with Media Center as a seperate download) will be available on line in Australia till the end of January 2013.
Also with the $40.00 online Special Media Center will be a free download while the special price is running.
Also a retail box set will be available fo $70.00 from shops.
Kevin.
Hi Kevin -- you are on the IceTV team?
Hope you aren't waiting for the Oct 26th release of RTM. I think my family will kill me if IceTV is out of action for that long.
Win 8 RTM is up on MSDN Subscription server now.
If you don't have access I can send you a copy. The Win 8 install is free to distribute (its the keys that cost money). Win 8 install without a key should give you 30 days free access.
No not on the team just a user.
Will wait for the release in October as cant use Ice yet anyway.
I'm in no hurry to change as need to get a new graphics card as AMD have no Windows 8 drivers for my card as support has stopped.
I'd forgotten the Graphics needs changing so time to check up on prices etc.
Kevin
Any Update on this?
Its been over a month now since last post.
We have ported our Interactive V3 to Win8 RTM.
We are having tuner driver issues under Win8 and cannot scan any channels in Media Center, so its not yet possible to perform a complete regression test.
That said, I'm happy to package this Win8 build and release as Beta if some of you want to get your hands on it early.
Let me know.
Beta would be great. Got nothing at the moment. Assuming it works with RTM.
Yes Win 8 Beta I'm willing to try will be on Win 8 CP on a test machine so wont hurt to try.
Kevin
Hi Luke, I would be interested in testing what you have got so far, eager to move my systems to Win8.
Add me to the 'me too' list. Should have checked first if Win8 was supported before signing up for the free trial!
Hi Luke,
I'm keen to try out a Win 8 compatible beta if possible. I'm planning on moving one of my systems to Win 8 soon.
Cheers,
Dan
Argh! Please tell me this is ready. I have rebuilt evrything in Win 8, media center is working perfectly, I never thought to check IceTV compatibility!
Is there an update on this?
Can I get the beta please?
Thanks
BJ
Bought Retail yesterday.
Ice TV will not even run in compatibility mode.
Urgently need Beta as well.
Have to fall back to my back up PC with on 2 tuners. Painful.
I'd like access to the beta too please.
Anthony
Wow, I last posted back in March on this - I had just assumed that by now icetv would be working. Silly me, should have double checked again... I just upgraded my media centre pc today to win8pro rtm + media centre.
Guess I'd like the beta asap as well please. Looks like I'll be manually scheduling for a while *sigh*
Hey guys while we are waiting for icetv interactive we can use Bigscreen EPG as a workaround.
Download a 30 day trial from here..
http://bigscreenglobal.com/bgproduct.aspx?PID=BSEV1 (http://bigscreenglobal.com/bgproduct.aspx?PID=BSEV1)
You can set it up with your icetv account. Gives you icetv guide data, but won't sync any scheduled recordings
It would be greatly appreciated if you could send me the beta version as well. I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.
Marcelo
Beta here too please :)
Been using Bigscreen EPG as a workaround since installing the Consumer Preview but so missing my ICE
Hi Guys,
We'll be releasing a package for Win8 very soon.
Cheers,
Luke
Please add me to the BETA list. Now I realise how much I rely on IceTV.
Hi Guys,
I should be able to release it today.
:)
Count me in for Beta today please.
Thanks
Ill take a beta if its going to thanks mate.
No worries, I'll post the installer here when it's ready. Just fixing the channel logo caching issue and should be right to go.
Hi Luke
Just wondering if there is any update on this? I've got a Win 8 media centre just waiting for its IceTV ...

Yes that is all that is holding me up as well. IceTV is the last piece of the puzzle that is Windows 8
Hello? Any news?? Having a crappy experience with TV without EPG...need a proper ETA please, otherwise need to look for alternatives....don't really understand what is going on, since Win8 is available for testing for so long, this is paid service, should have things available at time of release...!! >:(
Have to agree here, it is not as if this is a community project however the apparent lack of release management processes in the software development team has a lot in common with a community project.
From the outside, windows support appears to be a side project from some enthusiasts, the issue is that we are paying a fee for something we can't use, additionally we have expectations set in the forum that have not been met and there is no update.
I agree with you guys this is not good enough. We are paying for a service that we cannot use. And this service is not cheap. Thats not good value for money. After several calls to tech support I was advised they were working on it. Still there is nothing. This should have been released on launch date.
I have been a long time subscriber to IceTV and have found it to always be less than perfect but have continued to support it. If you are going to charge premium for a product you shoud be getting a premium product.
Come on guys get your act togeather.
I'd like access to the beta too please. ;)
Hi Guys,
See our "Windows 8" board for the official download link.

Sorry for the delay, our small, but dedicated team is putting in 200% to deliver the best TV experience.
Cheers,
Luke
Thanks for getting a Windows 8 version out. I now have a program guide which can tell the difference between new episodes and re-runs. (//)
Thanks Luke, please note that the comments above are not aimed at the developers but rather the owners (assuming there is a difference). There is a need for stronger direction here despite best efforts from the coders, and we do appreciate it. Expectations for a paid service are generally higher than hobby based developers. This has been a long term issue with Windows and icetv.
The comments are totally acceptable, but there are reasons why we've u-turned on Media Center this year, and I cannot disclose just yet. :)
