Make sure that you are LOGGED IN and that you have named and set up your Beyonwiz. I have the same set up and it works a treat. Check to see if you can program a successful recording from the PC. Make sure that the Wiz is switched ON, otherwise it won't receive the recording commands.

I came via Nokia/Treo 650/iPhone 3Gs/about to go to iPhone 4/

Originally I was anti Apple, but the iPhone is the best thing I ever got. I use all productivity type apps no games. Never had any reception issues. The IceTV app is very cool. I programmed my PVR to record a program back home, while I was in the Snowie Mountains.

I agree with Mitty. It would be good if the app was rewritten to use the full screen of the iPad. As it is I prefer to go the web interface.

EXCELLENT!!!

Well done IceTV. We can finally get on with enjoying programs that are paid for by the advertisers and not the Nein network!

It was worth the slog. I wish IceTV every success for the future.  ;)

How do you wake the Toppie, except by recording something?

Topfield / Should Toppie be on 24x7

Is it best to leave the Toppie on 24x7? I normally turn it off when not in use, but then ICE can't update.
Thanks...

Topfield / Upgrade question
September 23, 2008, 03:46:57 PM
Current setup:

  • Billion 7404VGO WiFi 54Mbps
  • Toppie 5000
  • Icebox 2
  • Mediagate 350HD

I am thinking about upgrading and need advice please.

The Mediagate 350HD just can't stream video on wireless, even though my HP laptop had no problems on the same 54MB link :(
I would like to go HD, but want to have good connectivity and EPG.

Q1: What would be the best dual tuner PVR solution? Is the latest Toppie or a Beyonwiz the best?
Q2: Can one built a Media PC that is superior? I build PCs regularly, so the question relates to the PRV s/w - would any Windows Media based s/w equal or better the comercial PVRs?
Q3: Is there a dual tuner PVR with DVD BURNING feature? If so, could it be used to convert old VHS tapes, or only burn digital recorded programs?

Topfield / Re: Icebox2 WPA can't get it to work

Strange - I'm having a similar problem getting it to work.

Has anyone had success with
WPA2-PSK
AES crypto

and ten characters?  (I note the posts above seem to have used WPA and TKIP)

Thanks

WPA2 doesn't work on the Icebox2. I had to set my Billion to WPA instead of WPA2. Not impressed.

General Discussions / Why the repeated EPG entries
September 23, 2008, 03:15:59 PM
I keep seeing IceTV EPG show the same programming repeated? Why is this? It makes it impossible to figure out the program and even more difficult to record both as with padding there is a fake "overlap".

It's a great feature which I love and a feature which discriminates ICE from the standard guide. It is very useful for your eye to visually "tag" movies immediately amongst other content. Otherwise, if only the title was listed, you have to read the title and description and try to infer yourself whether it is a movie or not.

I also like this feature.

However if you want to get rid of it, just use ftp to the Icebox and rename the files. Namewiz is one handy renaming utility.

General Discussions / Icebox2 help needed
December 11, 2007, 04:53:29 PM
The Icebox (aka ASUS WL500GP) has 3 types of network addresses

  • WAN port
  • LAN ports - wired
  • LAN port - WiFi

If I set the Network interface to fixed IP, which of these becomes the set address?

2nd question:

I can't get WPA2 to work. Is the pre-shared key in hex, or is it a normal text string? If HEX, then how many digits?

Thnx in advance,
#12
I can only get the Billion <=> Asus to work with WEP not with WPA or WPA2.

I suspect that the pre shared key format may be the problem, however I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?

My guess is that the ASUS wants a HEX code, whereas the Billion is using an ASCII string, but not sure. How long does the key need to be?

Any help would be much appreciated...
