Account Payment via Direct Credit

I would like to investigate paying via direct credit.  Are the following instructions still valid?

No I'm afraid they are not. I'm sorry but we have stopped taking payments by bank debit as they are not automatic and need us to keep an eye out for every one for  reconciling our accounts and updating your account.

You can set up automatic payments using a debit card instead of a credit card or simply buy individual subscriptions that way.
