Channel setup reccomendation

I am a new user of Vista MC and IceTv. I have found the interaction between these two... to be confusing and misleading. You reccomendation for best practice would be appreciated.

I did a scan, I get 25 channels on my Happague twin tuner card. ICETv only supports a small number of these. What is my best option of setting channels, when I live in Sydney?

Using the Add Channel to list - is confusing at best. You can add the channel but it breaks the link to the original channel. How strange is that? I'd like the guide to show for all relevant channels even if they are a dupe?
