Quote from: MD on April 07, 2023, 07:39:17 PMI can only assume the "1590" has a driver issue whereas our IceTV branded ones are tested to work correctly as dual tuners. You may get some info from the Kodi forum...
That is precisely why I would be interested to see established exactly what model the IceTV tuners are. If 1590 then it would point to my installation of LibreELEC being problematic. If not I would avail myself of an IceTV tuner post haste!

I should add that I see my problem with the single dual tuner 1590 in plain vanilla installations of LibreELEC, up to and including the current version 11.0.1, not just in the IceTV modified version.

I assume that both tuners are properly configured - that is DVB-T rather than DVB-C and you have selected DVB-T Network for each.

I will check the Kodi logs to see if it gives more information.

Both tuners configured for DVB-T rather than DVB-C and DVB-T Network selected. These are default IceBox settings.

I have tried changing Linked input settings, no difference.

Thanks for looking into it.

Quote from: IanL-S on April 08, 2023, 04:36:26 PMThe information on the rear of the USB tuner provided by IceTV may be of some (limited) help:

Could be, but I don't have one, nor a BW provided one. Only those I purchased a while ago on the open market.

If you have an IceTV provided one, I'd appreciate it if you could post output from UsbTreeView (https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/usb_device_tree_viewer.html). That would probably need connecting the tuner to a Windows PC, if you have one.

Relevant entries in output from UsbTreeView for model 1590, with Vendor ID and Product ID of particular interest.

My IceBox has been crashing regularly, next time it does I will attach the tuner to my Windows PC.

Thanks for that. Looks like a model 1590 to me, same as the one I am using with the BYOB IceBox installation.

Any chance you have a BW supplied one for the V2 that you could do the same test on with UsbTreeView? It would likely clear up the question of whether they (BW provided Hauppauge tuners) are also model 1590.

I do not have any BW provided Hauppauge tuners. Only have no-band name single USB tuners from Beyonwiz (provided with U4 and T2).

I saw something yesterday when trying to work this issue out that suggests the Linux kernel requires separate drivers for each version of the Hauppauge tuner.

Have you tried going into Settings > Add-ons > Services and installing DVB drivers from the latest kernel? It may be you need one of the other listed driver packs, but this is really above my pay grade.

The Beyonwiz firmware only has the Busybox version of lsusb, which doesn't take any options and only lists bus and device numbers, and the USB ID. It confirms that my Beyonwiz-supplied Hauppauge has USB id 2040:0265, which matches the id for the model 01590 listed in the LinuxTV link that raymondjpg posted.

I had a dig around in its /sys/usb files, but didn't find anything much useful. Its "product" file just contains "dualHD".

Thanks. That's one of many things I have tried to resolve the issue. What flummoxes me is that recordings will start on the second tuner, but then both are killed in their tracks. I've also looked at the different recording caching options without success.

Bottom line is that TVheadend is really fragile if only one tuner of the twins is effectively available in my installation. Once borked it seems to mess up reliability for any other recordings down the track.

Two twin tuners may resolve the issue, but I'd prefer it if one twin tuner could be made to work such that both tuners can work concurrently.

It would be helpful to know if IceBox users are experiencing any similar issues running just one twin tuner.

It looks as if Model 01590 has been the one generally supplied for broadly speaking the "European" PAL standard. I can't find a local supplier for it, but it is still apparently available on the Hauppauge UK site.

I don't know how Model 1595 (the "USA" version) would go here.

Probably not at all, since the Hauppuge and LinuxTV links for it that you gave both say (probably because the latter copies from the former) "Model 01595: Dual tuner for ATSC and clear QAM". ATSC is the US digital TV standard. We use the European DVB standard.

This is really very odd. As the tuner is being recognized, it is difficult to understand why it is not working properly.

You could try an XBOX ONE USB turner, you can get them from Kogan (under $10 for Kogan First price, $20.00 + shipping for others; limit of one per customer and see if that stabilizes things. The way TVHeadend allocates turners will result in it being Tuner 0.

I have a clutch of XBOX ONE tuners, 4 of which I got from Kogan for only $5.00 (including delivery).

You'd have thought so, but recognition of the tuner(s) is apparently no guarantee that they will work properly. For example if I select DVB Drivers for TBS I see both tuners, but a forced scan fails on all muxes.

I eventually acquired an Xbox One Digital TV Tuner (6CV-00002), more out of curiosity than anything else.

I cannot get it recognised by the IceTV publicly available BYOB software. I see that you have it working, but perhaps in more recent beta BYOB software unavailable to the likes of me?

I haven't tried it yet in plain vanilla LibreELEC 11.
