SKIPPA / Re: Skippa Pre-Order

Fucking shambles, was actually hoping to be pleasantly surprised this week with a skippa in the mail
Despite its initial flaws I bought into the idea and could see the potential
Now that I've spent $400+ on a non existent Pvr (at least the ones who have a skippa a can repurpose the hdd or hope the altech software might work in it) I doubt the Mrs will let me splurge on another one for a while.
Well I still have the trusty TiVo ,see what happens next

Thanks for your reply prl
I guess I was thinking if the skippa receives frequent epg updates anyway then you could cut out the middle man (server) and have no pop up/set up delay at all.
I'm sure there's many advantages of a cloud based box over a closed one such as ph and pc control ect.
Thanks again and can't wait to try Icetv and skippa out soon

Hi
I will receive my skippa next week all gong well.
I just had a question based on other people's experiences, I know for long time users skippa is just another vehicle for the Icetv service but I feel for me the opposite may be true coming from a TiVo where the Pvr was great but the epg was all over the place.

Any way I wanted to know why when making a series recording does it have to contact the server? What is it doing at this point and why can't whatever it is wait for the next 10min check in.

Also if there is a conflict when setting multiple recordings you get an email to notify you (before or after the fact?) but is there no instant on screen message that says this?
No internal mechanism to know as you set recordings that there is a conflict

We will be releasing a new software update on Tuesday (version 1.1.10600) for your SKIPPA®, which addresses some of the problems you reported

Hi Just a small suggestion to remove a layer of complexity
Anywhere the manual says to use the +/-ch buttons to page through the list
Eg. My week,my recordings ect. You should be able to use the big blue arrow buttons to
Move through any list and have it auto scroll/page.
You may be able to do this already
Thank brian

I'm retiring my TiVo and look forward to opening my new skippa box soon.. I like the look of the skippa epg its nice
But the hardest change will be going back to a grid style epg (usually found on the cheapest media/set top/TVs ect)
The TiVo has 2 options for epg a grid view and a live/list view (pictured), an option like this would be awsome.
I've seen a few people mention justepg and I'd give that a go if it were an option.
I guess the grid view is ok if you rarely use the epg but I surf the guide ,every time I change channels it's through the epg
Anyway I can't wait to try it out cheers
