The "Stage 1 Highlights" subtitle is incorrect.  Stage 1 is not run till Tuesday.

The show will most likely be a delayed broadcast of the "Peoples Choice Classic", a Criterium pre-cursor to the actual Tour.

Topfield / IceTV timers not being set on TRF2460
March 28, 2013, 05:37:38 PM
My TRF2460 has been in storage for four months but has just been set up again.  Everything was OK except that no IceTV timers are being set.  EPG loaded from Ice without issue but no timers from Ice.

Setting timers manually is OK.

Tried a few things suggested in other threads like channel rescan, EPG reset, resend timers.  Even did a firmware upgrade to Jan 7 then repeat the other stuff but still no timers.  It would be nice if Ice had a log we could check but I think they prefer us to be mushrooms.

Can someone at Ice please investigate?

IceTV EPG Content / Commander in Chief on 7TWO?
November 22, 2009, 12:02:52 PM
"Commander in Chief" is still not showing in the EPG for 7TWO after three weeks in the same timeslot (Wed 23:20 double episodes). How long do you need to build your template?
#8
The drop down list has the whole day in five minute intervals. Does it mean that only a show starting at EXACTLY that time will be scheduled? I've seen ABC shows that start on other than 5 minute boundaries.

Would it not be more flexible to be able to specify something other than an exact start time - a between range? After?  Before? Start+30?

A "Day" option would also be very useful.

Because the 7TWO guide was still "coming soon" last week I set up a manual timer for the double (120 minute) episode of Heroes tonight.

When I checked just now Interactive had replaced this (correct) timer with an incorrect one of its own - a 60 minute timer labelled "7TWO coming soon" and nothing at all for the second episode. The online guide now shows both episodes but shows the second episode as "not scheduled to be recorded" with a grey icon. The series is specified as First & Repeats, Anytime, SD preferred, All showings per day etc - nothing that would explain why the second episode is "not scheduled".

What gives?

IceTV EPG Content / Brownlow will be Live in Sydney on 7HD
September 14, 2009, 01:41:58 PM
This is outside the 7 days so maybe Ice already knows...

It seems that 7HD will be showing the Brownlow live into Sydney next Monday from 8:30pm.

I appreciate you'll need to confirm this by your normal methods - this is just to bring it your attention so it doesn't get missed.

Beyonwiz / Timers get the wrong program names!!
April 15, 2009, 03:20:08 PM
There is a very basic flaw in the way timers get set on BW devices. It's very obvious that the program name is NOT set as part of the timer request but that Ice depends on  the name being picked up from the EPG. Unfortunately this can result in some very screwy titles.

Case 1: The EPG for that timeslot/LCN is empty when the timer arrives from Ice. Timer gets set with a name of (for example) "*Seven HD" which might (or might not) pick up the correct name at the time the recording starts. Often it picks up the name of the previous show.

Case 2: The EPG for a timeslot/channel has been received by the BW. Subsequently the EPG needs to be changed (the reason doesn't matter).  The new entry is for a show flagged in either a series or keyword. Ice Interactive sends the timer to the BW BEFORE the EPG update gets sent so the timer gets created with the wrong name.

Both of these issues would not exist if Ice sent the timer name as part of the timer request. Presumably the code in the BW would also need to be changed to accept the name but we are told this code is supplied (or perhaps just specified) by Ice.

As an aside to the above it is very obvious that the Interactive code is not very robust (for BW devices at least because that's all I have experience with). If anything goes wrong it can quickly get very out of whack.  Often the issue is made worse by users trying to "correct" issues when perhaps they would be better just waiting a while.  Of course the user doesn't know this because Ice refuses to publish any description of the process by which timers get set/updated/deleted meaning that we, the users, are flying blind and cannot be blamed if we make things worse.

There's also a bad case of lefthand/righthand typified be the issue raised above. Another exemple is that the Ice code in the BW has a "Clear EPG" option yet if you use this to try an fix an EPG problem you inevitably end up in a "request made too often" state and have no EPG at all for an hour. Left hand provides the option - right hand punishes the user for using it.   :'(

I noticed this with the Underbelly repeats\ but it applies elsewhere also

I have a keyword set for Underbelly (HD preferred). Because "No repeats" cannot be specified Interactive is setting timers for the repeated episodes. This in itself is an issue raised many times but not what this topic is about.

If I "Cancel this episode" on these repeat timers it appears to work (the "dot" gets removed) yet a short while later the "dot" is back again and the show gets recorded in my BW.

It now seems that whenever TEN is simulcasting an event on both TEN and ONE (FTA anti-siphoning events usually) then One SD gets only a logo screen saying "Watch TEN or ONE HD".  This was first reported a week ago for the F1 (I haven't seen a response from Ice yet) and it is also happening for the AFL games.

There is an excellent technical reason for them doing so - more bandwidth is available for TEN and ONE HD by avoiding the unnecessary duplication of One SD. However if Ice shows these events in the Guide for One SD then they will undoubtedly get some VERY disgruntled customers.

I suggest that whenever Ice sees the same event on TEN and ONE HD then it clears the event from One Digital.  Even if this is sometimes wrong it is better to be wrong this way - those who want to record/watch the SD version will do so on TEN.

IceTV EPG Content / AFL on TEN (Sat night in Sydney)
February 13, 2009, 12:48:16 PM
The AFL website broadcast details PDF http://www.afl.com.au/portals/0/2009_broadcast_docs/nab_cup_wk2_tvv2.pdf says that TEN HD will be showing the Sat night game LIVE in Sydney at 20:30 with TenSD still being at 23:00

Strangely Ten's own website shows the game also repeated on HD as a simulcast with SD.

QuoteBrisbane Lions Vs St Kilda

(2½ hr delay)
TEN HD
20:30
(LIVE)

IceGuide only shows the 23:00 screenings. Can this be fixed please?

IceTV EPG Content / Grey's Anatomy - new series
February 11, 2009, 01:37:42 PM
Tonight's (Wed 11 Feb) showing of Grey's Anatomy on 7HD is a repeat of last week's showing but is not flagged in the EPG as a repeat.

This may have been suggested before but how about providing IMDB links as part of movie descriptions in the online guides like Interactive? Links for TV series and other TV shows (where available) would be good.

There's only so much info that your own descriptions can provide. This would give easy access to those who want more.

There wouldn't be much point to sending the links in the PVR EPG info (except maybe those who use XML like WebScheduler) as a PVR would have no way of using the link.  Interactive is where it would be useful.
